Celebrate Your 50th Birthday in Style

The big 5-0 may be fast approaching, but we refuse to sweep this milestone under the carpet. Fifty is no longer what it used to be, and although age is just a number, we are ready to go all out. We’ve organised our fair share of birthdays so we know exactly what it takes to make it one to remember. From epic party houses, dancing bonanzas to low-key soirees, we’ll help celebrate your 50th birthday in style.

1. Adults-only

The two words that can make some parents cringe out of their skin, but it’s your birthday and you can do what you want to. If you’re eager to celebrate 50 in style, you should consider a party house that will instantly leave your guests gobsmacked but coming away with a bucket full of memories. Thankfully, our portfolio of hand-picked holiday homes make outstanding party venues.

But don’t worry, if that doesn’t float your boat, we have party houses to suit all tastes. And if hosting a shindig is a task you can’t face alone, our concierge team can help you arrange entertainment, catering and even cleaning up.

2. Eat your heart out

Pairing cake with a bottle of champers is hands down our favourite birthday combo. But for this milestone, you’ll need to pull off all the stops. A Michelin-star restaurant is always a prominent option, and always a hit with foodies but if you’re looking for something different you can organise a cookery class with your nearest and dearest that will get hands dirty but more importantly keep bellies happy. The Jamie Oliver Cookery School in London is great for groups of 20-odd and classes are both extremely witty and delicious. But don’t worry, there’s an abundance of cookery schools across the UK, so you’ll be sure to find the right one for you.

3. A romantic escapade

You may not be feeling the birthday palaver, and if that’s the case with you then we totally recommend a romantic getaway for you and your partner. We have some knock-out options that will help get you started. For a romantic Italian setting, check out Trulli le Mandorle, for an intimate French spree, discover Le Cocon or for a sizzling UK break fall in love with Brooks Cottage.

If that’s left you feeling warm and fuzzy, we have even more boltholes that will make the 5-0 one to remember.

4. Set the dancefloor alight

If you can’t have a boogie on your 50th, then when can you? So, treat yourself to a pair of sumptuous heels, pack the plasters and start channelling your inner ‘dancing lady’ emoji. The where is entirely up to you, you might fancy an 80s night down at the local bar, a sassy salsa session with your girls, or for those who simply can’t get enough of Strictly Come Dancing, sign up to a couple of ballroom lessons. The only rule is to let your hair down and have fun.

5. A family affair

It’s not a birthday without the fam. And if your family are in desperate need of a recharge then make the most of this milestone and turn it into a week’s holiday. The whole clan will finally have some time to relax, but you’ll also get to drag out the celebrations. It’s a no-brainer!

Mallorca has always been a phenomenal villa holiday destination for families but as for the villa itself, we recommend Villa Es Costes. This villa will cater for all generations. It boasts a children’s play park (that the kids/grandkids will adore), it’s under an hours drive from the airport, comes with outdoor games and the heated pool has a mountable pool fence.

6. Tick off your bucket list

Or as much as you can! Your bucket list is extremely personal, so no matter the contents it’s time to rally the troops to help tick off as many as you possibly can. It could be as trivial as joining a book club or taking up regular meditation – or it could be as extreme as visiting the Grand Canyon or hot air ballooning. If you want to make it a little bit more special, get a friend or your partner to film you ticking them off, that way you’ll have the memories to look back on.

7. Keep it low key

At the opposite end of the spectrum, you might decide to have a quiet celebration. But that doesn’t mean it needs to be any less fun. You can invite everyone round to yours, order a takeaway (or if the weather permits, a nice BBQ), buy a few crates of beer and all the bottles of prosecco and all that remains is to create a cheesy Spotify playlist with your favourite songs from the last 50 years.

We hope our ideas have left you enough to ponder on. To ensure your 50th birthday goes down without a hitch, get in touch with our concierge and they’ll get this party started.
