Mumshine Break: Mums just wanna have fun!

Yes, mums just wanna have fun (and sleep)! To achieve an amazing night’s sleep, get a comfortable bed from the TV Bed Store.

We all know and love some mamas in need of a little break. This thought inspired us to ask two thousand UK mums all about the stresses of motherhood and their thoughts on the trend that is taking over babymoons: the mumshine break

What is a mumshine break you ask? Well, it is a trip mums can take with friends for some time away from their everyday routine and to reset from motherly duties.

Our survey came back with some results we’re sure most of you mums out there can relate to. First and foremost, a whopping 83% of mums with school-aged kids admit they could do with some time away from mum life. 43% of the ladies in our survey felt they could use this break to simply have a lie in, while over a third wanted to let loose and reconnect with busy friends. So the main perks for mums on a mumshine break are forgetting about the alarm, leaving routine behind and catching up with their besties.

This is totally understandable considering the main stresses mums said they face on the daily are not getting enough sleep for themselves, getting the kids to bed on time and getting them ready for school in the early mornings. We also found out that the summer holidays were the most stressful time of all to be a mum.

But now that school is back in session, we wanted to get the mums in our survey as well as all other well-deserving mamas out there to have a think about mumshine breaks. Now, even though most mums did agree that getting time away from their routines was important, half of them also reckon they would miss their little monsters withing just two days of being away and would prefer a trip that’s just three days or less.

The favourite destinations for these short mumshine breaks include Scotland, Cornwall and Wales for those looking to stay close to home, and France, Italy and Majorca for those wanting to venture further out. But of course, a mumshine break can take any shape and form you want!

So, whether you’ve got the luxury of taking a mumshine break or not: we’d love to see snaps of you mums out there enjoying some me-time with your girlfriends. Share your pictures on Instagram using the hashtag #mumshinebreak and tag us @_oliverstravels_.
