Are you dreaming of your very own destination wedding at a luxury villa, but feel like you want to know a bit more about what it’s really like? If so, our Weddings blogs are exactly what you’ve been looking for! We’ve been talking to lucky brides and grooms to get the scoop on tying the knot abroad, all so you can make sure your big day is as perfect as you’ve always imagined it!
Goda and Bill got married in Summer 2014 at the magnificent 12th Century Chateau De St Jean. They had big ideas concerning exactly what their big day should be, and Goda brought us up to speed on the run-up to the wedding and what brought them round to choosing one of our magnificent properties.
“After our spring engagement we decided to get married in only a few months, meaning we had limited time to decide on where we wanted to get married. With France being a country of love, however, we had no doubts we wanted to have a destination wedding in France!
We found Oliver’s Travels via Google as we were looking for a luxury villa or a French-style chateau which could accommodate up to 50 people. We had shortlisted a few places which were within our budget and suited our requirements, and after our visits kindly arranged by Stephanie [our wedding consultant – why not read this eye-opening interview with her?] the Chateau De St Jean stood out thanks to its rural beauty and well kept gardens, as well as the beautiful on-site church, which was one of the most important aspects to us since we wanted to have a church wedding.
Other important benefits of the chateau were its accessible location from London and other European countries, which played an important role to us when planning a destination wedding, since all of our guests had to travel from abroad.
One of the best decisions we made when planning a wedding was to choose a destination wedding! Our amazing venue made our wedding one of the most memorable life events to us and our family and friends. We all felt very relaxed throughout the long weekend, as there was so much to do, and we wished we could have stayed longer than three days, as it all felt more like a mini-break away rather than a stressful wedding.”
If you like the sound of Bill and Goda’s plans (and who wouldn’t – a mini-break where you get married sounds pretty much perfect to us!) visit our Destination Wedding page for a quick browse, check out our blog for heaps of Wedding info and inspiration and if you’re ready to take the plunge, our Wedding Consultant Stephanie is always happy to hear from new couples looking for their dream wedding venue.
