You don’t have to go all the way to the Caribbean to find pristine family-friendly shores – Europe has more than its share of picturesque beaches to keep little ones happy. Here’s Oliver’s pick of the top five European beaches for children.
Sprawled along the coast overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Marbella is home to some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol – but none are more child-pleasing than the aptly-named Funny Beach. Part beach and part amusement park, Funny Beach has a huge choice of water activities for kids, including pedal boats and para-sailing. Anyone who feels a little more comfortable on dry land can take their pick from go-karts, trampolines and bouncy castles.
Our Villa Ricco in Corfu is ideal for anyone who loves villas with pools. Located on the coast in the charming fishing village of Agios Stefanos, the swimming pool has gorgeous views of the surrounding olive groves and the sparkling Ionian Sea. Avlaki Beach is just 2km away, and its calm waters, quiet sands and sheltered location make this a great choice for kids.
Located on Tuscany’s Monte Argentario Peninsula, this sandy beach is great for families with its warm shallow waters and array of water sports. The surrounding pine forests make for an idyllic setting – and there are plenty of tiny coves for mini adventurers to explore.
Most of Croatia’s beaches are stony, but the water is warm and shallow and there are plenty of child-friendly beaches to choose from. We like Copacabana Beach at Lapad Bay just outside Dubrovnik, for its inflatable playground and fruit and ice cream stands. The water is shallow enough for little ones, with beautiful views of the Elafiti islands.
Oliver’s Travels offers a wide range of options when it comes to finding the perfect family holiday. Our concierge team is here to help you to choose from various Italian villas , French chateaux, Spanish properties or British cottages! Have your pick!
