You may have sampled every seafood restaurant in your own city or may be in Eagle Cafe, but for produce caught fresh that day and all but swimming onto your plate, the Caribbean is the place to be. Once you’ve booked your stay in one of our Caribbean villas in the Bahamas, read on for six restaurants you won’t want to miss.
The renowned Queen Conch Restaurant on Bay Street is the perfect spot for a memorable light lunch. Try the conch salad, made with sea snails freshly collected and prepared by the restaurant’s proprietors. Situated nearby, our elegant Sea Oats – Coral Sands villa is the ideal place to stroll back to afterwards for a relaxing afternoon on the beach.
If you like your food experimental, Pascal’s Caribbean Fusion Restaurant is the place for you. Chef Pascal makes the most of local resources to assemble tantalising creations including pesto shrimp, spicy conch sushi rolls and baked lobster with plantain.
For locally harvested organic food and a chance to watch the sunset over Rainbow Bay, this restaurant is unbeatable. If you’re in search of a well-made, straightforward fish main, try the locally caught grouper; or for something a bit different, the stone crab pizza is a regional delight.
This cheerfully painted joint is another expert in local speciality conch, which comes served in a brightly coloured Bahamian salad, as fritters, or even in a burger. This is a top spot for a refreshing, simple lunch, along with one of their famously strong drinks – be careful!
The Bahamian-owned Front Porch on mainland Eleuthera is not to be missed. The seafood platter and the stone crab main come highly recommended, with generous portion sizes guaranteed to fill you up! Afterwards, just take a golf buggy along the highway back to our charming Villa Carissa and work off your meal with a light-hearted game of tennis.
Great for anyone who wants to sample a bit of everything, this place serves up a good variety of small plates just minutes away from the beach. Be sure to try creative offerings including shrimp with goat’s cheese, jerk grouper salad and lobster ravioli. Delicious!
