Where’s Hot in April? 6 Places to Get Your Sun Fix

April showers getting you down? The cold and wet British winter may seem to last an eternity with spring taking its time to arrive. If, like us, you’re ready to runaway from it all and book your first warm-weather break, you’re in luck: we’ve chosen 6 sizzling destinations so you can scout out where’s hot in April.

1. Turkey

Weather: Max: 22 degrees (approx.)  | Min: 13 degrees (approx.)

What to do: Turkey’s Mediterranean climate provides a sunny and pleasantly warm April that’s perfect for tourists. Home to two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, ample beautiful beaches, hiking trails and indulgent cuisine, you can expect a trip full of cultural enrichment.

Where to stay: Our ever-growing collection of luxury villas in Turkey is designed to suit family holidays and couples retreats alike. With many of them situated close to the beach, you can swim and sunbathe to your heart’s content. Be warned, though – the sea won’t be quite as warm at this time of year!

2. Kos, Greece

Weather: Max: 20 degrees (approx.)  | Min: 13 degrees (approx.)

What to do: April marks the start of the warm season in Kos and rainfall dramatically decreases. From sandy beach paradise to fascinating ancient ruins, this harbour town is not one to be missed. The rolling vineyards are a key attraction for wine aficionados, while the rugged wilderness is carved with walking trails. Kids in particular will love the wandering peacocks and getting involved in numerous water-sports activities, making this the ultimate Easter holiday destination!

Where to stay: We’ve handpicked our delightful Kos villas so you can enjoy a luxurious and stress-free holiday. Minimalist and stylish, these villas feel like a home away from home.

3. Paphos, Cyprus

Weather: Max: 20 degrees (approx.)  | Min: 16 degrees (approx.)

What to do: You could get away with visiting Paphos at any time of year if you’re into your history – this ancient port city is steeped in Greek mythology, serving as the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite. However, visit in April and you’ll be able to enjoy its palm-fringed seafront and bustling restaurant scene as well, spending as much time touring monuments as you will wandering beaches.

Cypriot cuisine is a key draw here: aromatic and flavoursome, it draws influences from the Middle East, Turkey, and Greece. To get an authentic dining experience, we’d suggest sharing various mezze plates before enjoying classic dishes such as souvlakia (grilled meat kebabs) and kleftiko (slow-cooked lamb).

After all of that, it’s time to try the local cuisine, encompassing fresh seafood and indulgent desserts aplenty. For something different, try the colourful local parrot fish – an opportunity not to be missed!

Where to stay: Our elegantly stylish villas in Lanzarote are perfect for afternoons spent splashing around the pool and quiet evenings dining alfresco. With their sun terraces, barbeques and sea views, you’ll forget all about the unpredictable weather back home.
