Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
Since September 2021.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We fell in love with the Georgian architecture and the scale of the property, we knew it had loads of potential.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Yes! It dates back to the 1700's and is reported to have once been the home of the Mayor of Bath. There are shrapnel marks on one corner of the building from a world war 2 bomb which dropped very close by, but the building remained intact!
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
The landings on the first and second floors, which have been restored from bedrooms and cupboards to their former glory as spacious seating areas, are now such a lovely place to stop and relax with a book.
For anyone coming to stay, is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
- Really do?
There is so much to do in and around Bath, the obvious ones are the Roman Baths and Royal Crescent, but this year is the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen so a visit to the Jane Austen museum is a must. There are also some wonderful walks, the 6-mile Skyline walk which has many spectacular views of Bath is a highlight.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
There's no need to struggle with parking in the city centre, a 15/20-minute downhill walk from the house takes you to the heart of the action, stop for a coffee or lunch at the Bear cafe on the way! If you don't want to walk back uphill grab an Uber or take the bus to just outside the house.
