Whether you are looking for a first-rate round of golf or simply to relax in comfort and style, the Country Club Lodge provides the perfect rural retreat for up to six guests. Set on the grounds of the Cambridge Country Club, these wooden-fronted lodges benefit from their own private terrace and hot tub, whilst guests are welcome to enjoy a range of facilities available during their stay.

The lodge holds a large open-plan living area complete with comfy sofas, an oak dining table and a modern fully, fitted kitchen. Bi-fold doors allow you to step out onto your own terrace facing the course, where you can watch the balls fly from your very own al fresco dining spot. Better still, slip into your private hot tub and relax in the bubbles as you look up to the stars with a glass of fizz in hand.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all you need for your stay with modern fittings and fixtures, including a Rangemaster oven and hob, Rangemaster double fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the utensils you will need right down to the wine glasses. Pour yourself a coffee from the machine in the morning and take in the fresh morning air through the double doors.

Sleeping accommodation is spread between a delightful master suite with a super-king bed and an en-suite boasting a deep sunken bath for a luxurious morning soak. A double and twin bedroom share a lovely bathroom with shower and WC, and all bed linens and towels, even the toiletries, are included!

On the grounds of the club, guests are welcome to use the facilities, with the 18-hole course and treatment rooms bookable for an extra cost. Why not work up a sweat in the gym, then unwind with a relaxing swim at the club pool and finish up with a sauna and steam? Take a stroll through the lovely village of Bourn or get on your bike and explore the stunning Cambridgeshire area with a wealth of architecture, shopping and natural beauty to explore.

Set in the pretty village of Bourn, nestled in Southern Cambridgeshire, the lodge benefits from a peaceful rural setting. Keen walkers and cyclists will find themselves spoilt for choice on routes and pathways; we recommend trying the King College cycle Route from Lower Cambourne, a fantastic way to discover the local area and don’t forget to stop off at the village coffee shop and village pub for refreshments both on the way there and back!

Just half an hour’s drive away is the Bourn Pottery Centre, filled with local artists at work. It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and you and the family can get involved by trying a throwing session yourself at the wheel. If you want to soak up some local history, a trip to Duxford Imperial War Museum is a must-see. There you will find a fascinating display of aviation through the ages, getting up close and personal with gigantic aircraft and spitfires.

The historic university city of Cambridge is just twenty-five minutes away and has endless medieval and gothic architecture to explore and discover. There is a fantastic shopping selection if you want some retail therapy, or if you prefer to have a more relaxing day, then why not stroll through the stunning flora and fauna at the Cambridge University Botanical Gardens?

A trip to Cambridge shouldn’t go amiss without taking a punt on the picturesque River Cam; hire a boat at the river or allow someone else to do the steering while you sit back and bob along the water by taking one of Scudamore’s Punting Company tours for an informative trip. Pack a picnic and enjoy a lovely lunch riverside to complete your day.

While in the city, check out more local history with the Fitzwilliam Museum, which is full of art and antiquities from around the globe from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, plus amazing exhibits of European pottery, glass and furniture.

Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in Cambridgeshire

Welcome to wonderland of Cambridgeshire! Tucked away in the heart of East Anglia, this county is like a storybook come to life, brimming with history, academic wizardry and nature's own masterpiece. Oliver's Travels has just the ticket for your adventure, a splendid array of dreamy properties to make your exploration extra special!

The crown jewel of Cambridgeshire, the University of Cambridge, was founded way back in 1209. This place, the scene of continuous genius lightbulb moments, boasts the characterful, historic colleges of Trinity, King's, St John's and plenty more, each with its own spellbinding charm and academic legacy.

Cambridge city itself is a treasure trove of delights. Behold the iconic King's College Chapel, a Gothic masterpiece shouting, "Look at me, I'm fabulous!" A leisurely stroll along the River Cam offers scenic beauty and pure serenity. Fairy tale punts glide under bridges while the Fitzwilliam Museum offers a treasure chest of art and antiquities. Cambridge Market is a carnival of flavours, a gastronomic rollercoaster with vibrant stalls offering everything from fresh produce to artisanal crafts and international delights.

Beyond the bustling university town, you will discover the charm of Cambridgeshire's villages and towns. Ely, with its cathedral reaching for the skies, is an historical gem and Grantchester, the village that will get you loading up your Instagram account, offers pretty thatched cottages and meadows that could make a poet out of anyone. In Duxford, The Imperial War Museum is your time machine. Offering Spitfires, Concorde and a wonderful array of aircraft, you will experience a flight through history that will make your inner aviator do loop-de-loops!

The Cambridgeshire Fens are your ticket to outdoor adventures! Wicken Fen, the oldest nature reserve in the country, is a birdwatcher's haven. So grab your binoculars, hop on a bike and pedal through the Waterbeach Fen Railway Path for a picture-perfect countryside escapade.

Cambridgeshire's festivals are the glitter on this magical canvas. The Cambridge Folk Festival is a foot-stomping celebration of folk and acoustic music that will have you dancing while The Midsummer Fair, a lively jamboree dating back to the 16th century, is like a time-traveling carnival with fairground rides, stalls and an atmosphere that will make you want to join the party!

Academia, history and nature throw the best party in Cambridgeshire. Whether you are donning a wizard's robe in Cambridge, frolicking in charming villages or soaking up the Fens' tranquility, this county is the English experience that will enchant you, captivate you and leave you with a tale to tell.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Country Club Lodge is set up to provide a fantastic holiday for young and old to relax, unwind and play. Kids will love splashing in their own private hot tub or hitting the club pool for a daily swim, whilst the surrounding facilities and beautiful local area have something to keep all ages occupied.

Why not pay a visit to the Wimpole Estate, a sprawling parkland which houses an 18th Century farmyard, Home Farm, with shire horses, sheep and pigs aplenty?

Daily activities in the yard are available for kids to muck in and try their hand at a farmer’s job. Make sure you explore the many woodland walks available and cycle routes on the grounds, or take an informative tour through the house itself to discover the history of the families that lived there.

Crafty kids can get hands-on at Jazzy Jewlz in Cambridge, which hosts drop-in sessions where you can craft your own jewellery or craft projects with a wide selection of beads and jewels to choose from, and refreshments served too. Whilst the laser tag centre, Si5 Spy Missions, is a great place for older kids to make like James Bond on board a ship's mission with sixteen different rooms to run around and blow off steam in.

Shepreth Wildlife Park offers a great day out with a wide range of animals to go and see, from tigers, red pandas, birds of prey and otters. There are daily animal talks and feeds, with fish feeding at the jetty, creepy crawlies in the bug house and even a sloth in the Nocturnal room. For little ones, a soft play area and Safari train mean there is plenty to keep all ages entertained and busy.
