Overview
Deep in the south of England, you’ll find Cornwall. A quaint and rugged landscape that looks like its flown straight out of a fantasy. As well as the history and culture of the area, Cornwall feels distinctly unique to the rest of the country. It has a wild, untameable spirit that draws likeminded spirits to its shores. It’s dramatic coastline, lush green landscapes, rolling moorland and thunderous waves make it the first choice for free spirits who want to try their hand at surfing, rock climbing or diving.
Beyond it’s ability to rouse adrenaline, Cornwall is also synonymous with cosiness. Here, you can light a fire and listen to the wind roar, the waves crash and the rain patter against the window. It’s a wonderful replace to hibernate and retreat into the comfortable idyll of a snug holiday home with a book, your favourite show, indulgent treats and ending the day easing into a relaxing bath.
Joy Lodge welcomes you to Cornwall. As part of the Retallack Resort, you can enjoy the experiences and the amenities that the resort promises, including dinner at the aptly named Lookout restaurant, surf lessons to prepare you for those wild waves, access to the pool, gym and spa treatments. As a dog friendly property, you can bring your favourite furry friends along with you. You’re also close by to the charming town of Padstow, where there’s a great deal to do.
Ideal for a family or friend group of eight, the space is light, airy and inviting allowing you to take in the surrounding nature. The interiors themselves are brand new, added in 2021. There are some striking pieces here, including fixed antique oars and vast rope lamps, all items that highlight the maritime history and feel of Cornwall, a land that lives to serve the water. The property is ideally situated so that you can easily stroll to the pool, restaurant and neighbouring playground rendering it ideal for those with small children.
The property is ensconced by a lovely new terrace where you can enjoy the sunshine on warmer days or look out at the view all around you.
The hub of the home is its seating area where you can enjoy family time, whether you choose to sit and talk, play games, watch a film or enjoy a drink and a light meal. You can enjoy more formal dining seating or a relaxing rest on the sofas. For a different brand of cosy, head to the snug with a warm cup of cocoa or a book. With a 50 inch screen, you can also enjoy a selection of films and shows. On warm days, you can access the upper terrace and take in the idyllic surroundings.
The bedrooms are designed to be a sanctuary where you can recline after a day of exploring. There are two superking rooms and two twin rooms, as well as two bathrooms. The bedding is comprised of Egyptian cotton and plush plump pillows where you can rest. Your oak wardrobe is the ideal place to store your belongings. Before bed, wash off the day in one of the two bathrooms, and make use of the miniatures which are all paraben free. You can also get snuggled in a fluffy towel or your own Egyptian waffle dressing gown.
The exterior of the lodge is a rich chocolate brown flanked by golden fencing, creating a warm, attractive aesthetic. Get ready to make yourself at home.
