Overview
Cornwall is the ideal destination for those seeking adventure, the great outdoors, a grand gastronomical scene and a peaceful trip to the bottom of England. Cornwall, situated as it is at the south of the UK, has a very distinct energy and atmosphere of its own. It’s the perfect place for free spirits, adrenaline junkies, foodies, animal and nature lovers, hikers, cyclists and those who are young at heart. The beauty of the area is legend – dramatic coastlines, a sea that’s a surfers paradise, verdant green villages and meandering moorland.
It's also a wonderful place to venture if you’re seeking cosy hibernation, thanks to its comforting interior options, a trip to the Eden project for example, or a peaceful night in curled up on the sofa with a good book. If you’ve had a strenuous year, Serenity Lodge is the ideal environment to let your stresses soar away.
The Serenity Lodge is situated in Padstow, Northern Cornwall and forms part of the Retallack Resort and includes free access to the gym and pool. You can also enjoy dinner at the Lookout restaurant and indulge in sophisticated and soothing spa treatments. A playground is included on the grounds, ideal for young children, and there’s opportunities to learn to surf too, a staple in Cornwall that you simply must experience.
The lodge is dog friendly so you can bring your pampered pooch with you to join in on the adventure. A spacious lodge which sleeps 12, this is the ideal destination for a large gathering of friends or family seeking a peaceful escape or celebrating a special occasion. The lodge contains a whopping six baths, a luxurious outdoor hot tub and allows you to book a talented chef who is happy to prepare a special night of cocktails, canapes and dinner for guests. For those who prefer seafood, you can order pre-prepared lobster, or enjoy preparing your own BBQ outside and eating on the terrace with views of the lake.
The spacious and joyfully decorated living room is bright, warm and inviting. You could say it forms the hub of the home. It makes for a wonderful gathering point to luxuriate and enjoy time together. Open the doors to let in the light and enjoy the scenic view. The neighbouring lake is the perfect place to try course fishing if you’ve a rod license. You can also take a walk around the lake and bird watch. The second sitting room available is situated on the first floor and has its own balcony and snug. This is the ideal place to sit and watch a film or let the world gently pass by as you truly unwind and relax.
You can also enjoy the contemporary kitchen with its vast breakfast bar island where you can enjoy dining, drinking and entertaining. You could also have a more formal dining experience in the dining area and enjoy views of the lake and garden. The kitchen itself comes kitted out with all you could need including an American fridge freezer, ice machine, washing machine, tumble dryer, and an adjoining utility room with WC cloakroom for storage.
The bedrooms are a wonderful refuge after a day of exploring and decorated with harmonious bold colours. The various suites stretch across two floors. Some of them contain balconies and others jacuzzi baths. You may have to amicably agree as to who should get which room! The beds are kitted out with Egyptian cotton bedding and wonderfully soft pillows to help you drift off for a good night’s sleep. You can also enjoy a selection of paraben free miniatures to help you feel right at home and get changed into your Egyptian waffle dressing gown before heading out to the hot tub!
What you should know…
- If you’ve not travelled down by car, we’d recommend a rental as there’s so much to explore in the area. But if you decide to stay close to the lodge, you certainly won’t be missing out. The resort has everything you need for an enjoyable trip.
- Particular parts of Cornwall are on the map such as Truro and Newquay but we’d recommend looking further afield to. Sennen, Portloe and Veryan are all intriguing and equally beautiful options for a day trip
- If there’s an experience that’s unmissable for you, such as the Minack theatre, Eden project or dinner at Rick Stein’s make sure you book in advance as these are popular pastimes for visitors and for good reason
