How long have you owned the property?
The farmhouse is our former family home of over 20 years. My parents first brought the property in 2001, from the moment they first saw it they immediately fell in love with the unique mountain views, and the proximity to the beautifully rugged Brecon Beacons that lie behind.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
I was lucky enough to grow up in this wonderful home and spend over 20 years there, before we later moved to a barn conversion on the farm, offering others the chance to make happy memories in our family home.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The house is steeped in history and dates back to the 17th century, and maintains a number of original features including oak beams and traditional fireplaces.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
My favourite room in the property has to be the spacious living room - it is wonderfully cosy in the cool winter months, where you can draw the curtains and relax in front of the fire and admire the traditional oak beams above, yet also perfect in the summer months when you can swing open the French doors and step out to the oak-framed pavilion and country garden - it really is the heart of the home.
For anyone coming to stay, is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? There are a number of things to see and do in the surrounding area, with many locations offering untouched natural beauty. A 20 minute ramble through country lanes and over stiles leads to the small hamlet of Clodock, home to an unspoilt traditional pub of great character, the Cornewall Arms, full of traditional pub games including table skittles, quoits and darts. It really is the place that time forgot.
Really eat? Included in The Independent ‘The 50 Best Country Pubs’, the nearby 300 year old Carpenters Arms is well worth a visit for delicious home cooked food. The Crown at Pantygelli is another wonderful local pub, their chef-driven menu highlights seasonal ingredients in simple, handcrafted dishes. The Moody Cow is another firm favourite, whilst a little further afield (28 miles, 50 minute drive) than our other local recommendations, the Moody Cow is well-worth the travel time!
Really see? In my opinion, a visit to Herefordshire isn’t complete without a ramble up one of the many local hills, whilst seeming like a daunting task, the views from the top really are exceptional, it is well worth it - trust me! Hatterrall Hill boasts incredible views in all directions, but the Cat’s Back (Black Hill) is another popular local hill walk.

We really enjoyed spending Christmas there
We spent a wonderful Christmas at Hillside Farmhouse. The farm house was the perfect size for 7 of us to spend Christmas, with so much space we could all be in separate reception rooms if we wanted. It was clean, cosy and extremely well equipped. A beautiful place and we really enjoyed spending Christmas there.

We had the best weekend
We had the best weekend and stay here. I would heavily recommend this stay. If you are looking for an escape from our busy lives this is the place. Do nothing and relax and soak in the views and enjoy a home away from home. Our host was incredible and always responsive and helpful.

Another fantastic stay!
Another fantastic stay! It was our second time staying and before we arrived we wondered if it could possibly be as amazing as we remembered. It absolutely was! The host is amazing, incredibly helpful and responsive. We felt at peace the moment we arrived and even tried to extend our stay as we didn’t want to leave! We’re already counting down the days until we can go back! Thanks so much!

What an amazing place
What an amazing place. Fantastic house and garden in a wonderfully peaceful setting. We walked up to Offa's Dyke from the house, which was fantastic. The house was really well equipped, lots of large rooms and places to sit outdoors. We had a great stay!
