How long have you owned the property?
It has been in our family for over 100 years. My great grandfather PJ O'Driscoll Snr purchased Kilraven Mansion in 1919!
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
As you step into Kilraven Mansion, you’re immediately greeted by a sense of warmth and relaxation—truly a home away from home. While it boasts all the luxuries of a Georgian manor house, it still feels like a family home. Nestled on 30 acres of private land, Kilraven Mansion offers complete privacy, yet it’s only five minutes from Bandon town, where you’ll find all the amenities you need.
The property’s location is another major highlight. Just a 25-minute drive from Cork City Airport, Kilraven Mansion serves as the perfect gateway to the stunning attractions of West Cork. You’re also conveniently close to Kinsale, only 25 minutes away, with Killarney an hour’s drive and Cork City just 40 minutes away.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Kilraven Mansion, originally part of the Duke of Devonshire's estate, has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The Sullivan family owned it for about 70 years, with notable residents including the Duchess of Westminster. In 1919, the O'Driscoll family purchased the property, which has remained in their possession for over a century. Today, it is run by Miriam O'Driscoll and her children, who continue to celebrate its heritage while offering hospitality to guests.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
Every room at Kilraven Mansion holds its own charm, but the drawing room is often a guest favorite. This inviting space, connected to the dining room by a sliding door, is a perfect spot for family gatherings. Guests enjoy cozy moments by the woodburner stove before transitioning to the dining room for an intimate private dining experience.

Wonderful
Thankyou so much for your wonderful hospitality. From your kind communications before we arrived to your warm welcome when we arrived, you've been wonderful. You've truly thought of every detail and have made your home into a very special place that lives up to its name, Kilraven Mansion. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to stay here, we loved every minute and will always look back fondly on the time our family spent together here. Thank you for looking after us so well with delicious biscuits, fresh towels and warm fires and more... we are so grateful

Gorgeous, elegant, warm, inviting and comfortable grand home
Only problem: We did not stay long enough! Gorgeous, elegant, warm, inviting and comfortable grand home in an idyllic setting with beautifully maintained grounds. But Kilraven Mansion’s charm is surpassed by gracious, attentive owner, Miriam and her daughters. Truly, the epitome of Irish hospitality, generosity and gracious living. Some of our favorite memories will always be the kids playing cards on the floor while the adults relaxed in front of the nightly lit fire. But the most amazing highlight was the spectacular dinner created by private chef, Shane, on our final night. Beautiful memories to last a lifetime. Our party of 10 with ages from 7 to 83 all left with full hearts and memories to last a lifetime. Looking forward to returning.

The incredible historic home
Chance brought me to Kilraven Mansion at Laurel Walk, and I’m glad it did. I booked the incredible historic home to be the center base for a work project, and Kilraven Mansion indeed served as our “center.” It was a place we could gather easily, and we found its joyful warmth restorative for our long days. Miriam, the owner, has everything you need to feel comfortable. If not, she’ll have information close at hand, including a personal chef who made us an unforgettable local gourmet meal. The home and grounds are incredibly gorgeous and capture country life lived the right way. In the days following my visit, I wished I had booked one more day to enjoy the home without work on my mind – to read a book curled up on the couch, to enjoy a glass of wine on a chaise lounge out on the lawn, and such. I hope chance brings me back to Kilraven Mansion, but this time, for fun and family time.

Lovely, comfortable, ...
Lovely, comfortable, exciting from the standpoint that everywhere we looked...the walls had personality, the bookshelves intrigued, the paths in and outside entertained. We had spectacular visits to Bandon, Blarney, Cork, Kenmare, Beara Peninsula, Kinsale - enjoyed by an 8 year old, 13 and many 40+ year olds and 70+ year olds! We appreciated you, your family and friends and your lovely home. Thank you for your kindness. Our dining experiences were lovely but our dinner with Shane, Dylan and Conor exceeded our expectations. P.S. Hailey surely danced better than Conor!
