Logan Manor makes a wonderful home for those wanting to enjoy a relaxed Scottish break, in easy reaching distance of Edinburgh and fantastic attractions and amenities. Set in the village of Dalkeith, within three and a half acres of private gardens, it offers complete peace and quiet. When listening to the soothing sounds of the River Esk, which runs through the property, it will be hard to believe you are just a short car journey away from the buzzing capital city.
Originally dating back to 1703, the Manor has been lovingly modernised in recent years by its current owners who have managed to seamlessly blend its original charm and character with updated interiors and contemporary facilities. Logan Manor can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests across five beautifully appointed bedrooms, each of which boasting its very own en-suite bathroom.
On the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen which comes complete with all the tools a budding chef could possibly need as well as a bright sun room, the perfect spot to enjoy some quite time with a good read while enjoying the garden views. Upstairs, on the first floor is the main drawing room, with its cosy fireplace this is a fantastic space to snuggle up and put on your favourite film. Also on this level is the first of the bedrooms, a super-king room with en-suite bathroom. On the second floor is the beautiful master suite with its super-king bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom complete with indulgent roll-top bath and walk-in rain shower. There is also a further bedroom, a twin, which can on request be set up as a super-king, with en-suite shower room. Finally, on the third floor are the remaining two bedrooms, a super-king room, and a twin room, which again on request can be set up as a super-king room, both of which boast an en-suite shower room.
Outside, the gardens are a real oasis, there is no better way to end a day than to enjoy a soak in the hydro pool swim spa. On a warm evening, the whole gang will enjoy gathering together on the terrace for a yummy barbecue al fresco!

Region
Welcome to East Lothian, the land of castles, golf courses, seaside havens and a whole lot of character! Tucked away on Scotland's east coast, this enchanting region sits just outside the vibrant city of Edinburgh. Oliver's Travels has sprinkled a bit of luxury magic all over the place, from snug cottages to elegant manor houses and even the odd castle!
Now, let's talk landmarks. Tantallon Castle is the rockstar of historical hotspots. Perched dramatically on cliffs, it is like the celebrity of medieval fortresses, dating back to the 14th century. Nearby, North Berwick is where golfers go to swing their clubs and enjoy views that are basically a nature-induced spa for the eyes. If you are more of a tranquility seeker, the John Muir Country Park is your sanctuary of natural zen. Named after a Scottish-American nature superhero, this park is like a green hug along the coastline. Belhaven Bay is the beachy haven for birdwatchers, sun-worshippers and water sports fanatics, a sandy paradise waiting for your adventurous footprints. Haddington is like a historic market town dressed in cobblestone couture. St. Mary's Church and Lennoxlove House are 13th-century gems that add cultural glitter. Tranent, the vibrant town in the mix, is party central, hosting wonderful events. Dunbar, the coastal village, is where history meets Mother Nature. Dunbar Castle, perched dramatically on a rocky promontory, is like the wise old storyteller with panoramic views as its tales. It is also the birthplace of John Muir, the nature guy. Dunbar celebrates his legacy with a museum, the John Muir's Birthplace, where you can practically feel the green vibes.
East Lothian's calendar is busy. The Haddington Farmers' Market is the foodie's paradise, showcasing fresh veggies. If you are into culture, the Fringe by the Sea festival in North Berwick is where music, comedy and literature throw a coastal bash.
East Lothian offers culinary wonders. Seafood, including the famous Scottish salmon, is the star on many menus. And let's not forget haggis, the local hero. Traditional Scottish dishes are served with a side of warm hospitality that will make you feel like you never want to leave.
East Lothian is that cool friend who knows all the best spots. It is where history, nature and culture mingle, creating an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful House in stunning grounds
I can thoroughly recommend Logan Manor which is a beautiful house in stunning grounds. Sally, the owner, gave us a very warm welcome and was very helpful if we needed anything. The house was extremely well equipped and we enjoyed a very generous welcome pack. Very convenient for visiting to Edinburgh, we had a fantastic holiday and hope to be back.

Fabulous weekend
Fabulous weekend break for The family. A beautiful place to stay & we were so lucky with the fantastic weather.

The oasis we needed
Thank you so much for your warm and generous hospitality when we visited two weeks ago. We fell in love with the beautiful Logan Manor and the timing of our trip was perfect in so many ways.
We have admiration for all that the owner has achieved and for the exquisite detail applied, not only in the restoration, but also in the interior design and decor throughout.
Our little Scottish respite was just the oasis we needed.
There’s no doubt that we'll be back to visit again sometime, hopefully with our family.

Superior stay
Superior stay at Logan Manor! Our family came from Florida so our teenage son could participate in a Junior World Golf Event. The grounds at the home are amazing! Our 9 year old son enjoyed gathering the eggs and the entire family appreciated the quiet surroundings. Sally is the most welcoming hostess and was a joy to get to know during our stay. We look forward to coming back in the future.

We loved it
Stayed almost 3 weeks & still didn’t want to leave. A house that feels like a home. We loved it & will be seeing you soon.
-
Modern and spacious
We travelled with 4 adults and 2 children. The house was modern and spacious. The grounds were amazing and plenty of room for large parties to spread out. The highlight of the property is Sally who owns and manages the property. She was our concierge for the week and can arrange golf, private chefs and transportation. We highly recommend and will be back.

The fabulous Logan Manor
My family of 7, including our one year old granddaughter, stayed in Logan Manor for 5 nights. The house is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Everything is top notch from kitchen appliances and utensils, to comfy bedding, linens and toiletries. The decor is absolutely lovely. Sally, the owner, was super helpful and responsive and just lovely. We hired personal chef Jesse to prepare our dinner upon arrival and it was one of our best parts of the entire trip! The huge, private grounds are stunning and Sally's dogs, William and Fleur, charmed us with their good manners and adorableness. The house location was a great jumping off spot for visiting Edinburgh, North Berwick and sites to the north as well. We had a beautiful family vacation at Logan Manor and would 100% stay there again and again.

Amazing stay
Our family had an amazing stay at the Logan Manor. A stunning property located just minutes from Edinburgh and decorated to perfection. Our host Sally could not have been more accommodating and accessible for us. She graciously arranged for provisions prior to our arrival and made our life so easy. There are not enough Thank You’s for the opportunity to stay in such a lovely, peaceful property during the Christmas holidays. We hope to make it an annual trip!

WOW!
Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Marvelous
Ten of us booked the Logan Manor via Oliver’s Travels and had a marvelous time. The house was spotless, and the representative (Johanne) was exceptional. She did everything, booked our local excursions, arranged for tickets and transportation, and helped with securing local chefs for three of our in-house meals. The house is stunning and was the perfect setting for our group. The grounds are meticulous, and there’s no sense of being near a city. Each of the rooms is well-furnished and extremely comfortable. The call was to Johanne whenever we needed anything, who made us feel right at home. Our group doesn’t usually go back to the same places, but we may make an exception for the outstanding treatment we received at Logan Manor from the staff, chefs, drivers, and locals. Definitely a five (six?) star adventure.
-
Perfect
The house was perfect for our party every thing was as described in the brochure and was exceptionally well equipped. Sally was very helpful with recommendations especially for the local wine merchant and butcher.

Experience of a lifetime!
I do not have words to accurately describe what a beautiful home and gracious and friendly host the owner Sally is. Our time in this beautiful home was just about as perfect as it could be.
The home is super spacious with 5 large bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. The kitchen is fantastic for preparing large meals, we ate there almost every night with more than 8 people at each dinner, and the Orangery is very cosy. The weather was perfect while we were there and so we spent hours at the outdoor dining table, sitting around the fire late at night and enjoying the swim spa. My children spent hours in the garden with the chickens and just generally running around the high, safe and quite grounds, and we even hired a local fisherman to help the kids fish for a couple of hours.
The owner, Sally was amazing. So friendly, so helpful. Available when we needed her but left us alone at other times. We absolutely loved you Sally. Book this home, you will have an experience of a lifetime. Wonderful. -
Fantastic
Logan Manor was an absolutely fantastic experience for my family and my in-laws. We were a group of ten and couldn’t have been happier about staying here. The property and house are both immaculate. The kitchen is absolutely fantastic for big meals or just a lazy Sunday morning cup of tea. The owner Sally and her son Patrick could not have been more accommodating and helpful during our stay. We will most definitely be counting down the days until we are able to have another family gathering here!
-
Absolutely beautiful home
Our family of 9 adults (3 generations) could not have asked for a more perfect stay in Scotland. Logan Manor is beautifully appointed with all the comforts of home. We were greeted by the owners, Sally and Terry who could not have been more welcoming and gracious. This beautiful country home provided a relaxing retreat after a long day of sightseeing. We thoroughly enjoyed the chickens who live on the property and the eggs they provided. The property offers over 3 acres of privacy yet it is only a 15 minute walk into the town of Dalkeith or to the beautiful Dalkeith County Park. Edinburgh is a short 20 min taxi drive away or you can do as the locals and take the bus. Sally was so helpful with assisting us in making transportation arrangements, providing dining and online grocery recommendations. We highly recommend staying at Logan Manor, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Sally and Terry for a wonderful stay in your home.

Very special
A fabulous house, a gorgeous setting and incredibly welcoming hosts made this a trip of a life time for my wife and me, our four adult sons and their four girlfriends. Many thanks to the owners Sally and Terry for making an idyllic retreat even more heavenly. Fabulous.

Furnished to an exceptional standard
Everything about the Old Millhouse was just perfect for a multi generation family holiday, the location made it the ideal base for visits to Edinburgh and the surrounding coastal beauty spots.
The babies loved the outdoor space where they were amused Sally's chickens, and the huge garden provided the ideal place to let off steam before settling in for cosy dining and a proper family evening together.
The house is on three floors which we found to be an advantage as we all had plenty of room to spread out and have some quiet time, or not feel cramped if we wanted to be all together cooking in the family kitchen or relaxing in either of the two sitting rooms.
Everywhere was stylishly furnished to an exceptional standard well above the norm for a rental property. This is truly a home from home experience which we have recommended to other families who appreciate nice things. The Levack Family

An Idyllic rural retreat
“An idyllic rural retreat set within extensive grounds yet amenities 5mins walk away.”
Perfect house for a large family gathering, with top class furnishings giving a home from home atmosphere. During our stay the charming owners were available to offer local knowledge and to tend the large garden complete with free range chickens and a beautiful river.
Would highly recommend for a holiday any time of year, the open log fire makes it a cosy winter retreat

Great attention to detail
I have visited The Old Mill House a number of times - to stay and as a venue for drinks parties. The house has been beautifully restored and retains many original features as well as having more modern touches. Great attention to detail has been paid by the owners and it is literally perfect. The house is spacious and beautifully appointed but the main memory for me is the surprise you get as you enter the gates and go down the drive. You just do not expect to see such a beautiful house, and the grounds with the river, tucked away in the centre of Dalkeith. On top of this you are not overlooked and feel miles away from everything. Chris S.

This house would be hard to beat
This house exceeded all our expectations! A very well maintained and beautifully equipped property with great space and facilities for all 10 of us. All rooms were very clean with spotless en suites excellent personal service from the owners - nothing was too much trouble. The chilled glass of Prosecco on arrival was very welcome. This house would be hard to beat!! S Maitland
