Loch Lomond Manor is a unique historic National Monuments house constructed between 1901 and 1902. It was built by a husband and wife team, Alexander and Maggie who were part of the Glasgow boys and Glasgow girls’ group of painters, needle women, architects and artisans. As a result, the house was often filled with artists, their influence is still visible today through the many individual feature artworks and tapestries which adorn the walls of the manor house.

Loch Lomond Manor is located in a truly privileged position, located in the upper part of Helensburgh with beautiful views over the Clyde and beyond to Argyll. Situated at the start of the highland train line it's possible to take day trips to Oban and Fort William or if you fancy, day trips to Glasgow or Edinburgh by train. While Loch Lomond is no more than 5 minutes over the hill.

The house itself boasts buckets of character and charm across its five individual turrets, with beautiful period features throughout from tapestries in the drawing room to some of the largest bath tubs you will ever see! Loch Lomond Manor is both formal and welcoming. Staying in this house you will experience the golden age of British architecture - Edwardian Scotland - with all its charms!

The Manor can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests across its six beautifully-appointed double bedrooms. On the ground floor is the spacious entertaining area, guests will enjoy an after-walk game of chess in the elegant drawing room while the dining room is the perfect space for the whole gang to gather and reflect on all the memorable highlights and adventures of the day! Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs

There is something so romantic about staying in one of Oliver’s Travels luxury properties overlooking Loch Lomond, a breathtaking freshwater lake that spans over 24 miles in length. Nestled within the stunning landscapes of the Trossachs National Park, the loch is the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain and a haven for nature enthusiasts, history buffs and adventure seekers. The Trossachs, often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Highlands,' boasts an enchanting mix of lush forests, serene lochs, and rugged mountains, making it a picture-perfect destination for exploration.

The surrounding hills and mountains strike a pose, creating a mesmerising backdrop. Standing tall and majestic, is Ben Lomond, the loch's very own celebrity peak. Hiking up ends with a reward of panoramic views that will make your jaw drop. The charming towns and villages that sprinkle the shores of the loch like confetti include Balloch, the southern sweetheart and the gateway to Loch Lomond. It throws open its doors to visitors with the flair of a Scottish welcoming committee. You can take a loch cruise or explore the Balloch Castle Country Park, where 19th-century castles, gardens and woodlands play host to leisurely strolls and family picnics.

Further north, the village of Luss is so well-preserved it is like a postcard got stuck in a time warp. 18th-century cottages line the shores, offering a glimpse into Scotland's architectural wardrobe. The Luss Pier is your ticket to a boat tour extravaganza, discovering islands and hidden coves like a true Scottish pirate. Balmaha's got your back with a gateway to Inchcailloch Island. Burial grounds, scenic trails and centuries of Scottish history await.

Loch Lomond isn't just for romantic strolls. It is a water wonderland with sailing, kayaking and fishing on the agenda. Inchmurrin, the largest inland island in the British Isles, is your tranquil escape. Anglers can fish for salmon, trout and perch, while thrill-seekers can dance with the wind on a windsurfing or waterskiing escapade. Loch Lomond is also a golfer's dream. The Cameron House Golf Course offers views that could distract even the most dedicated golfer. Who can focus on putting when the loch is winking at you?

Loch Lomond isn't just a place, it is a romance novel waiting to be written. Whether you are soaking in the tranquility of the lake, enjoying a delicious waterside meal, taking to the water or unleashing your inner highlander, Loch Lomond captures the essence of Scotland's enchanting landscapes with a touch of luxury and a dash of fun.

Ah, bonnie Scotland! A wild and beautiful part of the world, where you can explore the rugged highlands or enjoy the colour and vibrancy of cultural capitals like Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • A magical stay

    Created on 21/10/2024

We had a magical stay in your beautiful house, thank you so much. The kids loved the tyre swing and garden, and the soccer pitch!

  • Wonderful experience at Loch Lomond Manor.

    on 10/10/2023

We had a wonderful experience at Loch Lomond manor. The home is beautiful. Well appointed and perfect location. The owner was wonderful - extremely helpful. My son came down with a stomach bug - and she even managed to send a doctor neighbour over to check on him. She was readily available to answer all questions and gave us great advice on where to go and what to do. We can’t wait to return next summer. Thank you Deborah for a wonderful vacation!

  • A gem for literature and art lovers

    on 16/07/2023

This property is just perfect for literature and art lovers. Very pleased with the friendly and fast correspondence too.

  • A place to rest and explore

    on 13/07/2022

Forget the photos. This great work of architecture must be experienced in person. Walking into each room, sensing the light, the proportions, the detail in every corner, you just get an equal sense of awe and calm. But don’t think for a minute that you will be staying in a museum because this a house well-lived in since it was built in 1901 and that warmth is imbued in every room and throughout the grounds, from the Aga stove to the tire-swing out back. It is impossible to recommend Loch Lomond Manor enough as a place to rest and explore.

  • Lovely family weekend

    on 17/05/2022

We had a lovely family weekend. Thank you. We really enjoyed the house, particularly a gorgeous Friday afternoon in the garden. We have lots of lovely family memories! We didn’t venture too far - a visit to Hill House on Saturday (a great way to fill a rainy afternoon) and we had a good Sunday lunch in the Loch Lomond Arms in Less on Sunday. It was a nice place to stop while we explored the Loch. We enjoyed Loch swims from Duck Bay in the mornings. I swim every week in the Irish Sea so it was lovely not to miss my weekend dip and my husband had a fantastic long cycle on Saturday morning. The farm shop was another highlight! We have come back with lots of goodies.

  • Wonderful Weekend

    on 27/04/2022

Just wanted to thank you for going the extra mile to help make my Mum's Birthday weekend at Loch Lomond Manor, so very special.
The hamper and card were a very thoughtful touch and thank you for being so accommodating providing the extra high chair and all the super helpful recommendations. The caretaker was super friendly and helpful and the whole family had a wonderful time and felt like we were staying in a home away from home!

  • Highly recommend

    on 21/04/2022

We spent Easter 2022 at Loch Lomond Manor with our family and friends.
It was the most fabulous experience staying at this beautiful Arts & Crafts house.
The house is so warm and inviting with the most beautiful original interiors, stunning stained glass windows and very comfortable furniture.
The garden surrounding the house is fantastic for children to play and explore.
Endless fascinating books laid out to read, cosy fireplaces and art work decorating the walls so interesting to enjoy.
Loch Lomond Manor has a real sense of a well loved family home, very unique and full of character and so welcoming from the moment you cross the threshold, It is one to experience and not to be missed and we highly recommend it.

  • Many thanks for a wonderful week

    Created on 06/08/2021

Thank you for the wonderful joy of a week in your beautiful home. We had a really special time in your fascinating house and loved every moment. We admired the art work and tapestries and were particularly taken with the beautiful stained glass windows in the music room. We did not notice the bad weather as we just so enjoyed a change of scenery and the beautiful walks around Loch Lomond.
I would definitely recommend hiking up Conic Hill as it is not too long although fairly steep. It takes about 1,5 hours and the views of the region are spectacular. We enjoyed a few more local walks from just above Hill House and along the Loch which were nice options on rainy days.
We spent a day in Glasgow and so enjoyed the vintage shops and botanical gardens and my husband John was thrilled to spend a couple of afternoons fishing in the reservoir up the road.
All in all we had a fabulous stay with so much to do and plenty of time for relaxing at home, reading, playing games and eating delicious meals cooked on the Aga.
Many thanks for a wonderful week in a home that oozes charm and feels like a castle.

  • Very nice

    on 08/01/2020

Very nice manor where you just feel like if you were an artist of the end of 19th century. Good vibes in this manor.

  • Beautiful welcoming Manor filled with history

    Created on 28/07/2017

Our visit was like a great house party where the hosts had forgotten to turn up. A beautiful distinguished house, full of history, art and Edwardian quirkiness. A welcoming atmosphere, immediately comfortable and homely. Generous hosts, despite their absence, leaving a feeling of friendship and true hospitality. Fine helpful and accommodating staff. Great gardens complete with deer who wandered in as we arrived - did Wesley the gardener put them there especially? Great library helpfully displayed to show us the history of the house and its occupants. Beautifully situated with easy access to hiking and historical attractions. A great Aga once you got the hang of it. A fitting five days finale to our 3 week hiking tour of the U.K for nine old friends from 5 countries. Very Difficult to leave the house behind. However, we have hundreds of photos to remind us.

  • A lovely, amazing, warm home!

    Created on 03/07/2017

We all absolutely loved Loch Lomond Manor! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely, amazing, warm home! We loved the links with the Glasgow arts group. We had seen a very interesting programme on the BBC fairly recently about the Glasgow boys!
The house is so welcoming, comfortable, we were so at ease within it. Also lovely to come home to after some long and rather wet walks......
We took the rain in our stride but appreciated the sun when it came out.

We went all around Loch Lomond, to Luss, Falloch Falls, Crianlarich on to Kilchurn castle, and of course Inveraray. We had a great day at Doune castle and beautiful area all round the loch near there.
We had another truly lovely walk around Ardkinglas gardens the waterfalls, poetry in the gazebo, rare trees etc!
Hill House was splendid, loved seeing an identical table outside your drawing room. We also went into Glasgow on the last day to the Mackintosh museum.
My little niece loved the garden, the swings etc.we drove up to the base of ten highlands and all of us just loved the dramatic scenery, the space. So many great memories.
My sister (with a little help from all) completed a very difficult jigsaw puzzle of the world in the evenings when we all had some quiet, reading, relaxation time.
The DVD player came in handy for the little one, once or twice ( she's not yet three) for half an hour or so when she was tired but not tired enough for bed! Thank you so much again for organising that.

Helensburgh is a truly nice town, some beautiful houses and everyone was so friendly and helpful, it has a good feel. Thank you for all your recommendations, we availed ourselves of them, tea at PJs, Wee Kelpie fish and chips, especially the great Fish! Unfortunately there was no chocolate cake at Hill House! Disappointing! Next time!
Altogether it was such a lovely week, great family reunion from far and wide.
Wesley the gardener and co-house keeper was very helpful and friendly as was the housekeeper.
I truly hope we will be back again, not too far away. We are telling all our friends and relatives. Thank you for your very helpful messages and going out of your way to help, very much appreciated.
    Warmest wishes
    MM

  • A beautiful and enchanting home

    Created on 30/05/2017

I am struggling to find the words to eloquently put how much of a wonderful time we had at your beautiful and enchanting home.
4 days was not long enough to take in all the character and feeling the house contains. From the moment we entered the house it felt like home and we drew many similarities between our families. Not 15 minutes would pass without us finding something that would get our brains creating stories and trying to distinguish where in the blend of history the original house story would end and your family's story begin.
Emma has been emotionally drained by the house. The house smell (in a good way) and its contents instantly reminded her of her Grammy and the loving time she spent at her house. Her Grammy was a history & art enthusiast and surrounded herself in books new and old. She loved the Glasgow Boys. Emma never thought she would discover these senses that would generate such reaction. I know she would have loved her Grammy to have seen the house.
My brother David loved sitting in the front room reading the books as his Wife Asani played the piano. My boys loved the outdoor space playing football on the lawn and down at the swings and the burn. Oliver liked pushing the old Silver Cross pram.
We are a family with 4 children, 3 close in age and the 4th a lot younger. We are 4 boys ranging 24-32-34-36. The kitchen garden is very similar to our family home.
My Mum loved all the original Taps etc throughout the house this is the look that she has spent her time replicating throughout the house. The amount of times I heard her say O Bob look at this, Look at these.
Sorry I seem to have rambled on. I just didn't feel it was doing your wonderful home justice just to say we had a pleasant stay.
I thank you for allowing us to create a lasting memory that we will cherish and review for years to come.

Hi,just to say Thank you so much for all your help and for letting us use your wonderful house. We had a great time! Did Hill House (inc the choc cake) on weds and been on lots of walks and boat trips. The boys were very fond of your garden and we played lots of hide and seek! Such an interesting house with all that history. Rob and I had dinner at river hill last night. Left you a bottle of wine. Many many thanks x

  • It really is beautiful

I just wanted to say thanks for a wonderful time at your house. It really is beautiful and very easy to understand why your family has loved it so much.

  • Thank you for a most wonderful stay

    on 29/08/2016

Thank you for a most wonderful stay at your gorgeous house in Helensburgh. It was a lovely ending to our two month holiday in Scotland.

  • An amazing building!

    on 18/08/2016

Thank you so much for letting us use your house - what an amazing building with so many stories within it. I imagine your family had a wonderful time growing up there. It was pretty apocalyptic weather when we arrived but we had a good time on the seafront. The Glengoyne distillery is fantastic and we really enjoyed our tour there.
Thank you again, particularly for Charlie who was a trooper ferrying us around at times!

  • Your house is absolutely amazing.

    on 19/07/2016

I just wanted to say we had a fantastic time. Your house is absolutely amazing and I am so pleased I came across it. The kids absolutely loved the garden in particular the tyre swing. Wesley was very helpful and recommended a great place to go for Sunday lunch. My mum and dad really enjoyed it too and made our trip extra special. Would happily recommend your home to all my friends and family. I hope we are able to come back one day.
    Thanks LL

  • Beautifully designed house

    on 30/12/2015

We've had the most wonderful Christmas in this beautifully designed house. Our kids are 7 and 8 and so the little house outside, the rope swing and the open fires have been perfect for them - even in the rain! We've also had Grandparents staying who can't walk too far so they have enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere of the sitting room. Mrs S
