Region
The wonderful county of Surrey is where time-travel meets the modern day, where you can escape the chaos of city life and dive headfirst into a world of rolling hills, charming villages and a dash of Tudor elegance! Take a look at Oliver’s Travels’ portfolio of manor houses that make you feel like you have just stepped into a Jane Austen novel, cute cottages that practically scream 'Instagram me!' and other houses that redefine the meaning of countryside luxury. Surrey is a living, breathing tapestry of fabulousness waiting for you to explore.
Surrey is sprinkled with gorgeous ancient buildings including Hampton Court Palace, the famous home of King Henry VIII. You can stroll through opulent gardens, get lost in the maze or channel your inner noble in the Great Hall and Chapel Royal.
For all you nature enthusiasts out there, the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is your personal playground. Box Hill, the superstar summit of Surrey Hills, boasts superb panoramic views like few others. You can hike or bike through ancient woodlands, conquer open heathlands and soak up the tranquility with a side of outdoor adventure. Green thumbs and flower fanatics, brace yourselves for the stunning RHS Garden Wisley. It is a horticultural haven where plants live their best lives. You will meander through themed gardens, attend events and leave with a head full of ideas for your own green paradise. The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park is another green gem within easy reach with beautifully landscaped gardens that make you will make your heart sing.
Guildford, the county's cool cat of a town, is all about history and culture. Guildford Castle, perched on a high mound like the crown jewel of the town, is your VIP pass to medieval vibes. The town centre is a shopper's paradise, a mix of high street glamour, indie boutiques and a market that is practically bursting with life. For a double dose of rural charm, Shere and Godalming are the dream team. Quaint cottages, traditional pubs straight out of a Tolkien novel and cobbled streets come together to charm your socks off. Shere, a film and TV star, radiates timeless charm, while Godalming goes all out with a riverside setting and a historic market town vibe.
Windsor and its majestic castle are practically Surrey's next-door neighbours. With over nine hundred years of royal residence, Windsor Castle offers architectural splendour and a dash of fairy tale magic.
Whether you are after a leisurely escape or an active adventure, Surrey has your back. It is the destination where England's heritage and natural beauty come together for a party, and you are invited!
