Owner Profile

Owner
Liesha

How long have you owned the property?
We have owned High Weald House since 2000, and over the years, it has become a cherished retreat for family, friends, and guests alike.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
From the moment we set foot here, we were captivated by the breathtaking views, the expansive garden, and the house’s unique adaptability. The way the landscape changes with the seasons is something truly magical, and there’s always a new perspective to appreciate, whether it’s the early morning mist rolling over the South Downs or the golden hues of autumn.

Do you have a favorite room in the property?
The open-plan living room, kitchen, and dining area is the heart of the house. With its stunning views over the garden and the South Downs, it’s a space that feels both welcoming and ever-changing with the light and the weather. Whether it’s sipping coffee in the morning sun, watching the birds in the garden, or gathering for a cozy evening meal, this space truly brings people together. As an artist, I find endless inspiration in the changing light over the South Downs, the colors of the garden throughout the seasons, and the wildlife that makes this place so special. The vast skies, the rolling hills, and the golden glow of the sunsets have all influenced my creativity, making this home a truly magical space.

For anyone coming to stay, is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? Explore the enchanting Ashdown Forest, famous as the inspiration for Winnie-the-Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood, and enjoy the endless walking trails and panoramic views.
Really eat? Try the local pubs we’ve recommended in the house book. Each has its own charm, offering everything from hearty Sunday roasts to seasonal, locally sourced dishes.
Really see? Take in the beauty of the South Downs, visit historic Hever Castle, or enjoy the atmosphere of The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells, a charming Georgian colonnade with boutique shops and live jazz in the summer.

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Take a moment to slow down and soak it all in—the peace, the wildlife, and the open space. Whether it’s an early morning coffee in the garden, an evening around the firepit, or a countryside walk right from the doorstep, High Weald House is all about creating special moments and lasting memories with loved ones.

Fabulous location, the view is spectacular. The house has a used feel to it, which meant we felt relaxed to feel at home and settle in for a wonderful weekend.
Perfect for a day visit to the seaside for a swim and back in time for a BBQ, There are some wonderful outdoor seating areas, with little fairy lights at the end of the garden too. Felt like a fabulous location for all seasons as there were snug rooms for quiet escape from the main group. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the perfect place for my 50th Birthday weekend away.
The highlights: Great view and Romantic
Rooms were perfect, great size for all and loved the views.
