For a stay you will never forget, Bodorgan Railway House is the perfect place. This historic former public house has been immaculately converted, maintaining its former glory, traditions and atmosphere. Located directly opposite Bodorgan railway station on the island of Anglesey and set amongst an acre of mature gardens and grounds, this fabulous holiday home can host up to twenty-four guests across its ten bedrooms.

Throughout the renovations, modern amenities and touches of luxury have been planted among the charm and character of the building. A sleek kitchen, stylish dining area, outdoor barbecue and hot tub are just a few of the updates that make a stay here feel more lavish and special.

As you walk in the original entrance to the pub, a bright and spacious hallway welcomes you in. With 160 years of character to show, every nook and cranny of the building has something to say, and in the hallway, the grand staircase steels the attention! This floor offers useful storage space, a cosy reading nook and the fabulous, modernised kitchen with a breakfast diner. With floor-to-ceiling doors, the kitchen opens to the decking outside, with a barbecue and hot tub sure to delight all of your guests.

On the first floor you will find the main entertaining spaces. To one side is the formal dining room which can be set for all twenty-four guests, ideal for special occasions and big celebrations. Opposite the dining room is the beating heart of this building, the lovingly restored original bar room, offering a fully functioning pub-style bar which can be stocked by the team in advance of your stay if requested. This remarkable room has in-built window bench seating, bar stools, working beer pumps, drinks fridges, log burner, and Sky TV, so you pick who your landlord is and start pulling pints and entertaining in this fantastic space.

The top two floors of the building offer ten good-sized bedrooms. Muted tones and simple styling let the character of the building continue to shine through in every space, with comfy beds and plenty of storage. The second floor has seven bedrooms, with two en-suites and two-family bathrooms. In the attic, there are three bedrooms and another family bathroom; the former publicans’ living quarters.

Completely unique and full of hidden delights, Bodorgan Railway House is a brilliant choice for large family get-togethers and groups of friends that want to explore Anglesey.

A countryside location with serene views across rural farmland, this is the perfect choice for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle, with long walks, great pubs and lovely beaches to explore. Full of historic spots and beautiful nature, Anglesey is an island off the north-west coast of Wales. The island can be accessed by train, or the 19th-century Menai Suspension Bridge and the Britannia Bridge, which was rebuilt in the 20th century.

Bodorgan itself is a historic village in southwest Anglesey. Situated three miles from the nearest beach, and a short drive from larger villages, it is a great location for exploring the area. For fresh produce and store cupboard essentials, there is a great corner shop in the village you can utilise. The village’s Grade II listed railway station located directly opposite the Inn, makes travelling as easy as possible. Local trains cross the Anglesey Island line with onward connections to Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and beyond.

The beaches in this area are lovely to visit all year round. Aberffraw beach is just a five-minute drive away, as well as the popular resort of Rhosneigr and its beautiful beach which can be reached within ten-minutes. Rhosneigr beach is great for swimming, kite surfing, paddle-boarding and has plenty of restaurants and pubs where you can get all the refreshments you might need!

Newborough Forest is another great area to visit, about five kilometres south-east of Bodorgan. An RSPB reserve, Newborough offers endless walks, with birdwatching and long sandy beaches where you can spend the whole day relaxing.

Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in North Wales

Nestled in the bear hug of the United Kingdom, North Wales is rich in history, wrapped in natural beauty and adorned with cultural bling. This land of stunning landscapes beckons you, intrepid traveller, to unravel its treasures. Please take a look at our jaw-dropping properties that will make your holiday a wonderful adventure.

North Wales’ showstopper, the Snowdonia National Park, is a playground for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. Mount Snowdon, the VIP of the scene, towers above, overseeing the fun. Scenic trails, waterfalls that put your shower to shame and lakes are scattered across this magnificent landscape.

If history is your jam, Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a medieval masterpiece that flaunts military architecture. The town of Conwy is a living history book with cobbled streets and ancient buildings. One amazing landmark, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, is a 19th-century engineering marvel. Imagine a soaring aqueduct, the Dee Valley below, and views that make you question if you accidentally stepped into a postcard.

The charming village of Portmeirion is a colour explosion. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, this place enjoys vibrant buildings, lush gardens and seaside vibes. It is like a Welsh-Italian love affair that birthed a unique destination. Bangor is not just a university town. It is where Penrhyn Castle stands tall, a neo-Norman masterpiece surrounded by gardens that put Versailles to shame. The majestic Snowdonia mountains are the backdrop, adding drama.

North Wales is a theme park for thrill-seekers. Hiking, mountain biking, water sports, it is a playground of outdoor delights. Zip World Velocity in Bethesda takes the cake with the fastest zip line globally, making you feel like Superman over dramatic landscapes.

The coastline comes up trumps too. Llandudno boasts Victorian elegance, a historic pier and a Great Orme headland with cable cars and tramways making you feel as though you have stepped into a period drama. Aberystwyth brings the seaside charm while the nearby charmer, Betws-y-Coed is the tranquil village nestled in lush woodlands, inviting you to escape the chaos.

North Wales, with its blend of natural wonders, historic landmarks and adventure galore, is a love affair waiting to happen. Pack your bags, because each step in this magical land unfolds a new chapter in a story that has been brewing for centuries.

While the image of lush valleys and a laid-back lifestyle are right at the heart of a holiday in Wales, don’t think stunning landscapes and a bit of relaxation are the only thing on offer in this beautiful country. Don’t believe us?

  • Sooo many lovely spaces

    on 22/04/2023

Me and my family of 17 had such an amazing time in the accommodation. The second floor bar area is perfect! Sooo many lovely spaces that I didn’t know which one I wanted to spend my time in more! Great for all types of weekends!

  • Really impressed

    on 04/04/2023

What a brilliant stay we had at Bodorgan Railway House! As a group of 16 adults, 2 children, 2 toddlers and 1 baby (plus furry friends) there was ample space for us all to spread out, relax and enjoy the beautiful house and it’s surroundings. We were really impressed with all the facilities and small touches that the owners have thought of that made our trip as easy and enjoyable as possible. From the soft play equipment, toys and highchairs for the younger members of our party to the very well equipped kitchen and lovely toiletries in each bathroom. The house was spotlessly clean and beds/linen very comfortable. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were great sizes and the ‘pub’ inside the house was a real hit, a really lovely original feature! Jon and the team were superb and always responded extremely quickly before we arrived as well as when we were there. A really great place with lots of wow factor, would highly recommend.

  • Had everything we needed.

    on 11/02/2023

Perfect stay for a birthday weekend. Absolutely loved the bar and the host provided kegs. Beds were super comfy and the house had everything we needed. Already looking to book again!

  • As described

    on 08/11/2022

Jon and his team were great with prompt effective and helpful communication throughout the process. Bodorgan is as described, well equipped and serves well for larger groups. We were a group of 20 celebrating a family birthday and the pub was a great place to get together. The kitchen downstairs is also a great space to get together .

  • The views from the hot tub are great

    on 11/10/2022

Hosts were great at communicating and gave us the option of an early check in which was a great extension to the weekend. The house was lovely and big and there was enough room for all the party. The house is set in lovely grounds and the views from the hot tub are great! The hosts were good at accommodating elderly relatives and making the snug into a ground floor bedroom which enabled them to join the rest of the family on the weekend stay and not miss out - thank you :-)

  • Finished to a high standard

    on 20/09/2022

Used the property for my brothers stag do and can’t fault it at all. Was just like having our own pub for the weekend. Finished to a high standard. Would definitely use it again. Jon and his team have done a very good job renovating the place

  • Loved the in-house bar

    on 06/09/2022

Wow what a fabulous & unique place!! Had the most amazing few days celebrating my husbands birthday. We especially loved the in-house bar, games room & hot tub! The owners were very helpful & responsive. Also recommend a chef who we booked to cook a special birthday meal on the Saturday night. Thank you - We hope to visit again soon!
