Welcome to Snowdonia, the wild, beautiful wonderland tucked away in northwest Wales! This place is a total jackpot for nature lovers, adventure junkies and anyone in desperate need of a serene escape. Covering a whopping 823 square miles, Snowdonia National Park is like a giant, nature-themed quilt with stunning landscapes stitched together and dotted with soaring mountain peaks, zen-inducing lakes and ancient forests. Oliver’s Travels properties sprinkled across this captivating landscape include charming cottages and characterful farmhouses that will make your heart sing and turn your weary body into a puddle of relaxation.

The pièce de résistance of Snowdonia is none other than Mount Snowdon itself, the heavyweight champ of Wales and England. Standing tall at 3,560 feet, this mountain boasts panoramic views that will make your jaw drop. Nature enthusiasts enjoy hikes from the leisurely Llanberis Path to the hardcore Crib Goch Ridge while thrill-seekers can zipwire until their hearts are content. If you are not feeling the leg workout, you can hop on the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a scenic ride that will have you reaching the summit in style. Bala Lake is a water sports haven with sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and leisurely boat trips on offer.

Betws-y-Coed, the "Gateway to Snowdonia," is a village straight out of a fairy tale surrounded by lush woodlands and waterfalls. It is the perfect launchpad for your Snowdonia adventures, complete with charming shops and pubs that practically beg you to pop in for a pint. For a touch of magic, Betws-y-Coed’s Fairy Glen is a secret fairy hideout with mystical gorges, bubbling cascades and rocks covered in fairy-approved moss. You can take a stroll, have a picnic and let the enchantment wash over you. History buffs should get ready to geek out in Conwy, a medieval town dominated by the epic Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site that makes you think of a Game of Thrones set. You will wander through cobbled streets, explore castle nooks and soak in marvellous views. Portmeirion, a village straight out of an Italian daydream, courtesy of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis offers quirky buildings, subtropical gardens and spectacular views of the Dwyryd Estuary.

Snowdonia is a jackpot of nature wonders, historical stunners and villages straight out of fairy tales. Whether you are chasing mountain highs, lakeside tranquility or village enchantment, Snowdonia is amazing!

Reviews

  • Love this property!

    on 08/06/2024

We absolutely loved this property and would highly recommend.

    A few things to note…

The track to the property is an adverse camber, steep track which low to the ground cars would have difficulty with, especially when wet.

The building is so old and wonderful, with exposed beams, wide walls and flag flooring. It was so full of history but there are two open fireplaces that even when we didn’t use, leaves the property with a faint smoky smell. We didn’t find it an issue, it added to the charm, but it may be for people with breathing difficulties or very small infants.

The heating/hot water went off several times during our week but the contact was able to come out and sort it for us.

If you like properties with character, history, charm, warmth, space, peace & quiet, this is the place for you.

Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

    Diolch yn fawr!

  • Peace and quiet in the Welsh Hills!

    on 31/10/2022

Our stay was lovely in the very old traditional Tanat Valley Farmhouse - it was clean and cosy. The only small thing that was a little bit of a pain was the 3 gates and the muddy access lane. But it is a perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet in the Welsh hills.

  • Beautiful.

    on 14/09/2018

Absolutely beautiful house with stunning views, a little bit out the way and the track up to the house is a bit tricky (you wouldn't be able to do it in a low car) but so worth it when you get there.

  • One of my favourite places.

    on 05/07/2018

One of my favourite places in the world. Beautiful hills, burbling brooks, enchanted forests, big roaring fires and remote enough to forget about any worries!

  • Perfect

    on 01/05/2017

Lovely holiday cottage, very well equipped for large groups. Fantastic scenery but quite secluded. Take everything you might need with you as you can't pop to the shops. Perfect if you want to get away from it all.

  • Picturesque Farmhouse

    on 03/12/2016

5 stars - A fantastic place for a weekend getaway with family or friends. We hired the cottage for my Gramps' 80th birthday. He had a lovely surprise when he arrived to a picturesque farmhouse in the wonderful Welsh countryside. The farmhouse is beautiful and very well stocked with everything you will need for your stay. A great choice, even just for the comfy beds and soft bedding!

  • A relaxing rural Welsh escape

    on 20/11/2016

This gorgeous farmhouse was the perfect hideaway for a weekend spent celebrating a birthday with family. We especially loved the welcoming kitchen with everything thought of right down to the plastic bowls for the little ones and the baby cham glasses for adults – perfect for our celebratory champagne!
Sarah, the caretaker had left a lovely selection of jams along with local welsh cakes and fruit cakes – simply scrummy with a cuppa tea! If you can drag yourself away from the cosiness of the open log fire and comfy couches, or if you’re just a little desperate for some phone signal, then head to nearby Lake Vyrnwy which was very pretty. I would also recommend The Eagles Inn pub, a little further away but right next to Lake Bala, for a dog-friendly pub with the most welcoming and hospitable staff. Try the delicious locally bred homemade steak and ale pie but be aware – huge portions!

  • Beautiful farmhouse

    on 06/11/2016

Thank you Oliver’s Travels for such a wonderful find! We have had the best time ever!
We hired the farmhouse for my dad's 80th birthday surprise. What an amazing place! Not only for the most exquisite views of the roaring hills of Wales, but for the most well equipped house with every amenity you could wish for. From the beautiful fresh bedding and sumptuous towels to the many board games for everyone's entertainment, I could go on and on! Having no phone coverage or wifi was a blessing as we were all able to enjoy our own company with no distractions. Playing the piano and games were a real treat! I would highly recommend a stay here at this beautiful farmhouse and give a rating of five for the wonderful service at Oliver's Travels.
