Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
I've owned Emley Woodhouse for just under five years but I always used to see it as a child and wonder who lived there, it was a kind of childhood dream to own it!
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The house itself has gorgeous proportions, and I love the Georgian architecture, but it has to be the view that drew me to it.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Apparently, Emley Woodhouse was the Dower House for Bretton Hall.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
My favourite room is the snug, one of the smallest rooms in the house, its so cozy and peaceful and has such a relaxing feel to it especially when the fire's roaring!
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? To anyone visiting the house, I would recommend visiting the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, it has some amazing sculpture by really famous artists and is also a place of extraordinary natural beauty.
Really eat? I would eat at the Three Acres pub up the road if I fancied a lovely dinner out, or visit The Woodman for a cozy pint.

Perfect property and beautiful grounds for a multi generational family celebration
Information sent thoroughly described the property well and the local area with details on the localities attractions. House was immaculate, comfortable beds and beautifully furnished. We had an issue with the electrics tripping during our final breakfast which was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Clear instructions on route directions from all directions was helpful also.
We have previously visited this house and knew the layout of bedrooms and leisure areas would suit our family well. The grounds are ideal for our eight grandchildren and the views magnificent. Electric gate makes it a secure location. Nearby local attractions were available. -
5 stars stay
We had a 2 yr old and an 85 year old and everyone was accommodated and catered for. The rooms were comfortable and spacious; our requests for cots, high chairs, scooters were all there. The kitchen was very well stocked and supplied and the children loved all the toys and the trampoline.

This place is amazing
This place is amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay together and be able to eat together or separately it’s got it all. It’s a beautiful place with character whilst having modern appliances to make your stay easier. The beds are so comfy & the welcome pack was such a thoughtful gift. The garden is beautiful too & being enclosed so safe for children & dogs.

Amazing!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the booking at Emley woodhouse.
We had the most amazing time time there and the place is stunning!! My hen weekend was made so special and it was everything I ever wanted. My girls loved it there and we are already planning a reunion next year.. The pictures on the website don’t do the house justice at all. Lee met us on arrival and she was wonderful. The place was everything that any one could ever need and the spacious rooms made our stay so easy. Once again thank you. -
One for the memories!
Well, it's not easy turning 60, but this house really lifted the load! Impeccable house, can't fault! Great weekend, lots of fridge room for alcohol and lots of room to crash.
Thank you for making this weekend one for the memories! Will recommend to EVERYONE. -
Amazing time!
All families had an amazing time. The toys were incredible and the rooms all so beautiful. Also, I need more candles in my home now. Thank you!
-
Beautiful!
A truly beautiful house - very comfortable and extremely well appointed (particularly the kitchen and entertainment for all ages in the living room). The owners were very friendly, informative and made us feel welcome. The outside space is expansive and would be great in the summer (we visited in the winter), and walking access to a local wood is ideal for dogs. Highly recommended.
-
Wow!
A very memorable 50th birthday weekend!! Thanks for your help to make it a wonderful celebration. Emley Woodhouse is very thoughtfully filled with lovely touches - you have thought of everything for adults, kids and dogs alike.
We all enjoyed the weekend and would love to come back. We will recommend you to our families and friends. -
Perfect for large family get-togethers
"What is not to like about Emley Woodhouse?" It was my first time renting a house like this in the UK and we were pleasantly surprised. I wanted to pick somewhere quiet, and tranquil for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and it was both those things.
The challenge when your traveling with a large group, 8 adults and 6 kids is to find a place where your not on top of each other. The house is very well spaced out with lots of different areas if you wanted some quiet time. The décor is modern and the artwork is something that just makes the property. All rooms are good and spacious.
One of the wow factors of this property is the garden and the walks straight from it onto the fields. Kids loved the freedom! While we were there the weather was beautiful which just made our stay there such a memorable one. We had a lovely party for my parents 40th anniversary and we wont be forgetting this house in a hurry. -
Something magical...
There’s something magical about Emley Woodhouse. I’ve returned a few times now with my daughter, friends and their children and the house is a joy. Plenty of room for the kids to run free and then quieter, more peaceful rooms for the adults to convene. Each room has its own quality that makes you feel really at home and spoiled. On top of all that the decor is sleek and modern but homely and welcoming. There are wonderful walks and pubs nearby, plus the Three Acres restaurant just down the road who do delicious food. And Leeds is only a short drive away should you fancy a day of shopping or a movie. The only downside of Emley is having to leave. I genuinely couldn’t recommend this house highly enough...
-
Wish could stay here forever!
I'd love to stay here forever! Not often do you get an gorgeous old pile of a house that's not stuffy and old fashioned. This is cool and luxury! Will be booking again. Barely left. Kitchen really well stocked, had lovely hospitality and the whole process relaxed and classy! Well done.

Wonderful House
Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay in such a wonderful house. The amount of thought that has gone into the decor makes it truly special. We loved having a TV room for the kids and one for the adults!! So peaceful and relaxing, all high end luxury. I hope to come back one day with my own side of the family. Missing Emley already.
