Every morning at Bay House, you will be drawn outside by the blue skies and the warm ocean breeze. Take a dip in the cool waters of the villa’s large swimming pool, just a few steps from the main house, before enjoying a long, leisurely breakfast on the stone terrace. There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers here, with a poolside gazebo and an outdoor shower, providing you with every opportunity to take a break from the heat of the sun.

The vast garden has been designed with laidback Caribbean living in mind, featuring mango, papaya, banana, coconut, sea grape trees, and many more indigenous plants. Leafy palm and almond trees provide cool, shady spots throughout the garden, with a large, sunny lawn area giving families the perfect place to play together.

The villa’s dreamlike gardens lead down to the gently lapping sea. A secluded outdoor dining area with a barbecue grill, a gazebo, rustic benches and a hammock can be found where the garden meets the beach. This is a peaceful spot where everyone can gather for a delicious meal at sunset, lingering over a cocktail as the stars begin to shine.

A spacious verandah provides another relaxing area where everyone can socialise. With colourful décor inspired by the Caribbean landscape, this area is furnished with comfortable seating and includes another large dining area. A bright, well-equipped kitchen on the ground floor provides you with modern appliances and everything you might need to prepare a fantastic meal with the fresh local produce you have discovered.

There are three bedrooms located on the ground floor of the main house. Each of these charming bedrooms can be arranged as a double or a twin room and features either en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower or has a bathroom across the corridor. One of the bedrooms also includes a truckle bed for a third guest if required. French windows are a beautiful feature of the Seaview Room, which boasts its own private verandah.

Upstairs, guests will find the villa’s spacious master bedroom, with delightful contemporary décor, stunning lofted ceilings, a private lounge and an expansive sea view terrace, with a rear balcony overlooking the courtyard. An abundance of natural light flows into this beautiful room thanks to dual-aspect windows. There is a king-size four-poster bed and a modern en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower.

Another bright double bedroom on the first floor features a canopied four-poster bed and an en-suite bathroom. This bedroom includes its own private balcony with sun loungers overlooking the garden and the sparkling sea beyond, providing breathtaking views for you to enjoy with your morning cup of coffee.

Ideally situated on Antigua’s idyllic southern coastline, Bay House is nestled between the beautiful Turtle Bay and the horseshoe-shaped inlet of Falmouth Harbour. The villa’s excellent location perfectly encapsulates the stunning natural beauty of Antigua. Encompassing peaceful bays, coral reefs and magical blue lagoons, the island allows visitors to explore the ocean’s wonders whilst soaking up the Caribbean sunshine!

Antigua and Barbuda is a nation made up of two namesake sister islands and several smaller islets. Antigua is the nation’s largest island at just 281 km². The fact that you can easily traverse the island by car makes it the perfect place for a relaxed Caribbean getaway. Each day you will be tempted to stay close to home, on the silky white sands of Turtle Bay Beach. Secluded by dense green hilltops, Turtle Bay is a hidden beauty spot where you can swim and snorkel to your heart’s content before making your way to Falmouth Harbour for lunch. With 365 beaches dotted along the island’s coastline, one for each day of the year, you will always be spoiled for choice when it comes to your next dip in the ocean.

Blissful beaches are only the beginning of all that this vibrant, friendly island has to offer. A fifteen-minute drive away, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five fantastic national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island and a popular venue for maritime events and activities. Nelson’s Dockyard offers visitors plenty of fantastic trekking trails with breathtaking sights along the way.

Consider visiting Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout with panoramic views and the home of a famous Sunday evening party, where visitors are invited to participate in the festivities. Listen to live Caribbean steel drum bands, try some of the local food and rum punch and discover fantastic sunset views of the island.

Located on the other side of the island, Devil’s Bridge is another Antiguan national park that is sure to make an impression. The bridge is a natural arch composed of limestone rock, formed over many thousands of years. With geysers and blowholes surrounding the bridge as the waves of the Atlantic crash against the rocks, this bracing adventure will leave you in awe of the serene beaches you have just left behind.

The colourful gardens at Bay House, complete with a large swimming pool and sparkling sea views, will be sure to capture the imaginations of younger visitors, encouraging them to spend lots of time outside in the fresh air. With cosy nooks and crannies throughout the villa, there are plenty of spots for an afternoon spent reading in the shade or a quick nap before dinner on the verandah. Should you wish to wander further afield, you will find a diverse range of activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Watersports are widely available throughout Antigua, with sea kayaking and kitesurfing among the most popular. Numerous boat tours are also available, including tours to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda. Some ninety minutes across the water, one of Barbuda’s highlights is the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, home to thousands of exotic red-throated birds. Back in Antigua, you can visit the island’s wonderful donkey sanctuary, where children are encouraged to feed friendly animals.

A day spent hiking around Nelson’s Dockyard is another excellent way to get closer to nature. Ascend to the stunning panoramic views of Shirley Heights on a quiet weekday afternoon for a scenic hike that everyone will remember. This is a relatively easy hike, but make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and pack plenty of water. You will find handy trail maps available to download online.

For something different, why not take everyone to watch a local cricket match? The island is devoted to its national sport, played everywhere, though official matches tend to take place on weekends. Later, drive to St. John’s, where older children will enjoy the vibrancy of the island’s capital. Here families can visit local restaurants to sample some of the island’s delicacies.

If you are in the mood for an exciting island adventure, drive along the coast before turning inland towards Fig Tree Drive, where you will pass open fields of bananas and other colourful fruits. Within twenty minutes, you will reach the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Park, where a day of thrilling activities awaits! With experienced instructors to guide you at every point along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and rope obstacles, ziplining above the tree tops and crisscrossing a stunning gorge. Don’t forget to take a break in the magical twin tree houses tucked away in the dense rainforest. This is an exhilarating day out that varies in intensity, with options for all age groups.

Later, head back to Turtle Bay Beach for a relaxing swim at sunset before a delicious dinner together at Falmouth Harbour. Once the stars have come out, everyone will be sure to sleep soundly after another day of fun and adventure!
