Location
About the surrounding area of Ocean View SuiteThe nation of Antigua and Barbuda encompasses its namesake sister islands and several smaller islets, all located in the heart of the beautiful Caribbean. While Antigua is the largest of the nation’s islands, it remains a remarkably small corner of paradise at just 281 km², making it the perfect place for a relaxed Caribbean getaway. With 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to your next dip in the ocean!
Thanks to the superb location of Tamarind Hills on Antigua’s stunning south-west coastline, you will have the silky soft sands of Ffryes Beach and Darkwood Beach right on your doorstep. Overlooked by green hilltops and the occasional historic windmill, Ffryes Beach is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. You can swim and snorkel in the crystalline waters here, before indulging in a long lunch at a local restaurant. Don’t forget to bring your camera down to Darkwood Beach, known for being one of the most picturesque places on the entire island, for a sunset stroll and a cocktail at one of the laidback open air beach bars.
Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring an eighteenth-century British naval dockyard. As well as being a site of great historical and cultural significance on the island, this is also a popular venue for maritime events. Antigua Sailing Week was founded in 1967 and attracts hundreds of yachts every year. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, you can charter a sailboat for the day or arrange an excursion out on the water.
Nelson's Dockyard also offers adventure-seekers plenty of activities on dry land, including a number of fantastic trekking trails. Consider hiking to Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout with panoramic views, which happens to be one of the island’s most popular destinations. Shirley Heights is well known for its famous Sunday afternoon party, where visitors are welcome to take part in the festivities. Listen to live Caribbean steel drum bands, try some of the local food and rum punch and take in the out-of-this-world panoramic views as the sun begins to set on Antigua.
Blissful beaches are only the beginning of all the natural beauty and cultural vibrancy this friendly island has to offer. With hiking trails, watersports, culinary delights, museums, exotic birds and rainforests, visitors will be enchanted time and time again by Antigua’s breathtaking landscape and rich culture.

Best Suited For: All AgesWith a choice of two beautiful beaches below and WiFi in every suite, you may find that there is more than enough on your doorstep to keep younger visitors endlessly entertained. However, should you wish to venture a little further afield, Antigua’s amazing landscape has plenty of exciting activities to offer the whole family.
Drive along the coast before heading inland via Fig Tree Drive and within twenty minutes you will reach the incredible Antigua Rainforest Canopy Park, where a day of ziplining and rainforest adventure awaits! There are a range of fun and friendly eco-activities available here, with options to suit all age groups. With knowledgeable and experienced instructors to guide you at every step along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and rope obstacles whilst ziplining your way above the tree-tops and crisscrossing a stunning gorge. Not for the faint-hearted, this exhilarating day out varies in intensity, with ziplines throughout the rainforest at various heights and lengths. Don’t forget to take a break in the magical twin tree houses tucked away in the dense rainforest.
The hiking and trekking trails of Nelson’s Dockyard are another great way to get closer to nature, this time with your feet planted firmly on the ground! Make your way from the marina at Nelson’s Dockyard up to the panoramic views of Shirley Heights on a quiet weekday afternoon, for a scenic hike that everyone will remember. This is a relatively easy hike but do make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and pack plenty of water. There are handy downloadable trail maps available online.
Back down at Nelson’s Dockyard, there is plenty of fun to be had out on the water, with sailing excursions for beginners and more experienced sailors available. Watersports are widely available throughout the island, with sea kayaking and kitesurfing among the most popular. On land, horse riding enthusiasts can saddle up by arranging a visit to a local riding club. Horseback tours can be booked to suit a range of age groups and abilities, taking in gorgeous valleys and pristine beaches with the help of new friends. For an introduction to a truly important facet of Antiguan culture, why not take the family to watch a local cricket match? The island is fiercely devoted to its national sport, which is played everywhere, though official matches tend to take place on weekends.
Younger visitors to the Antiguan capital of St. John’s will be delighted by the vivid colours and sounds of this lively port city, where the whole family can visit any of the local restaurants to sample some of the island’s delicacies. From here, head back to one of your local beaches for another relaxing swim together, before you make your way up to the suites to prepare for the starry night ahead.
