The stunning Pelican House is a palatial property encompassing two neighbouring three-bedroom villas and a private swimming pool. Situated on the verdant grounds of Antigua’s renowned Blue Waters resort, Pelican House can be reserved in its entirety as a sprawling six-bedroom property with an exclusive pool for the sole use of its guests. Alternatively, the flexible property also offers guests the opportunity to reserve one of the three-bedroom villas whilst sharing the swimming pool. With spectacular views over the turquoise waters of Soldier’s Bay, the villas boast private beach access via a flight of steps, with silky white sands right on your doorstep.

Blue skies and the warm island breeze will draw you down to the idyllic terrace each morning, where you can spend the day sunbathing by the swimming pool, dipping in and out of the cooling water as you please. The dreamlike views of the Caribbean Sea framed by gently swaying palm trees instill a true sense of tranquility, providing the perfect backdrop for an afternoon spent unwinding on a sun lounger with a good book or an evening spent sipping coconut cocktails. Each of the villas also features a verandah with comfortable outdoor seating, where guests can enjoy a leisurely breakfast of fresh fruits or a romantic sunset dinner. From the terrace, you can always stroll down to the secluded beach below, for an invigorating swim in the ocean.

The serene ambience continues within each of the Pelican House villas, with an elegant open-plan living space benefitting from an abundance of natural light thanks to wide patio doors and tall windows. Each expansive living space comprises a relaxing lounge area with sumptuous sofas and a flat screen TV, the ideal place for you to rest after a day spent exploring the wonders of Antigua. The lounge area flows seamlessly into the villa’s traditional dining area, located a few steps away. Here, everyone can gather to discuss the day’s adventures and enjoy a delicious meal prepared in the villa’s well-equipped kitchen, featuring a breakfast bar and modern appliances.

Pelican House has been designed with laidback Caribbean living in mind, with effortless contemporary furnishings and understated décor echoing the natural colours and textures of the island. Each villa features an ample master bedroom on the first floor, with a four-poster bed, a private lounge area and a private balcony affording dazzling sea views. Another double bedroom with a balcony is also located on the first floor, while the villa’s third double bedroom is on the ground floor, boasting direct access to the terrace. Each bedroom features a modern en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a luxurious bathtub. Fitted ceiling fans ensure that your nights are as restful as your days are relaxing.

With superb vistas at every turn and a swimming pool and sandy beach to enjoy, you may not wish to venture far from the peace and solitude of Pelican House. However, guests are also welcome to make use of the excellent facilities at the Blue Waters resort, with freshwater swimming pools, secluded beach coves and acres of astonishing tropical gardens within an easy distance. Boasting a private location within the expansive grounds of Blue Waters, Pelican House offers guests luxury and seclusion in a blissful corner of paradise, with the resort’s first-class facilities only a short distance away. Here you will find plenty of activities that will ease you into the relaxed pace of Antiguan island life. From rejuvenating morning yoga classes to clifftop Pilates sessions at sunset, you will feel refreshed by your wonderful surroundings and the careful attention to detail that gives this resort its well-deserved reputation. After a dip in your own private swimming pool, you may wish to wander towards one of the resort’s quiet beach coves, taking in fabulous green gardens along the way.

If you fancy venturing further afield, the stunning landscapes of Antigua lie waiting to be discovered! The nation of Antigua and Barbuda encompasses two namesake sister islands and several smaller islets. Local Antiguans are understandably proud of the island’s 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. Here, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to your next dip in the Caribbean Sea!

Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park can be reached within forty-five minutes by car. One of five national parks in Antigua, this cultural treasure is located on the island’s southern coastline. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available.

While taking in the sights at Nelson’s Dockyard, don’t forget to visit Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout known for its bewitching views and community feel. With a popular street party happening every Sunday evening, visitors are welcome to enjoy the music of live Caribbean steel drum bands, taste some of the local food and rum punch and take in the breathtaking sights as the sun begins to go down on the beautiful island of Antigua.

Antigua boasts a variety of fantastic trekking trails, situated around the island and taking in sandy beaches, lush rainforests, and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging day out, put on your hiking shoes and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic vistas of the island, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean.

Visitors of all ages will be delighted by Antigua’s breathtaking landscapes and crystal-clear waters. While the fantastic facilities at Blue Waters and the amazing beachfront location of Pelican House may tempt younger visitors to stay close to home, the beautiful Caribbean Island around you offers an array of exciting activities to discover.

A popular destination for watersports, sea kayaking and kitesurfing lessons are widely available along Antigua’s coastline. Boat tours are also possible, including day tours to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda. Some ninety minutes across the water, one of the highlights of a trip to Barbuda is a visit to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, which is home to thousands of exotic red-throated birds. Back in Antigua, you can visit the island’s wonderful donkey sanctuary, where children are encouraged to feed the friendly animals.

A day spent hiking around Nelson’s Dockyard is another great way to get closer to nature. Ascend to the stunning panoramic views of Shirley Heights on a quiet weekday afternoon, for a scenic hike that everyone will remember. This is a relatively easy hike but do make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and pack plenty of water. You will find handy trail maps available to download online.

For an introduction to a truly important facet of Antiguan culture, why not take everyone to watch a local cricket match? The island is devoted to its national sport, which is played everywhere, though official matches tend to take place on weekends. Later, drive to St. John’s, where older children will enjoy the colourful vibrancy of the island’s capital. Here, families can visit any of the local restaurants to sample some of the island’s delicacies.

Drive inland towards Fig Tree Drive and within forty minutes you will reach the incredible Antigua Rainforest Canopy Park, where a day of ziplining and rainforest adventure awaits. There are a range of fun and friendly eco-activities available here, with options to suit all age groups. With knowledgeable instructors to guide you at every step along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and rope obstacles whilst ziplining your way above the tree-tops and crisscrossing a stunning gorge. Not for the faint-hearted, this exhilarating day out varies in intensity, with ziplines throughout the rainforest at various heights and lengths. Don’t forget to take a break in the magical twin tree houses tucked away in the dense rainforest!

Back at the resort, the Kids Club is open from Monday to Friday, for children aged between five and twelve. Here, the experienced and enthusiastic staff will supervise whilst the kids enjoy a wide variety of fun activities, from arts and crafts to sports days, with pizza and movie nights or dance parties come the evening time. For older children, an afternoon spent swimming and snorkelling along the resort’s beach coves is always popular. Later on, children aged twelve and over can pay a visit to the resort’s dedicated games room, before a night of stargazing on the terrace at Pelican House.
