Pool Villa/House Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Walk to Village

The fabulous, newly renovated, Colonial-style Villa Milord offers beachfront heaven. It is a fabulous dreamy property located on Barbados’ coveted platinum west coast in Fitts Village, between Sandy Lane and Bridgetown. The villa is stunning, mostly in white and natural calm tones and with the odd colour splash. Luxury linens, sumptuous furnishings and incredible attention to detail ensure you will leave this special holiday home with blissful memories. The sparkling sea views and soft ocean breezes will invite you to embrace the calm, slow down, and relax. Included in your stay is an excellent housekeeper and cook who will provide you with yummy breakfasts and lunches six days a week. She will also prepare dinner for an additional fee.

Fitts Village in the parish of St James takes its name from the man that initially owned the land, Benjamin Thomas Fitt. It was originally a fishing village, and you will still see plenty of fishermen here and in the neighbouring Paynes Bay, where there is a fishing market. Several reefs make the beach perfect for snorkelling. It is a favourite release spot for sea turtle hatchlings rescued by the Barbados Sea Turtle Project. The beach is a real beauty, with picnic benches sprinkled among the Casuarina trees that line the shore. Fitts Village has an excellent Italian restaurant in a romantic seaside setting and several rustic rum bars. If you decide to leave this little slice of paradise, there are lovely dining opportunities, golf courses, horseback riding, scuba diving and surfing, all just a short drive away.

The main living area of Villa Milord is bright and airy, with doors opening fully to the terrace and mesmerising sea views. A sofa and chairs sit opposite a large wall-mounted television alongside some lovely handpicked accessories. The dining area is very elegant in its simplicity, and the kitchen is beautiful with stainless steel appliances. The bar area enjoys a generous wine and beverage fridge. One of the bedrooms sits downstairs too, with access to the terrace, a gorgeous dreamy and romantic space with a beautifully dressed king-size bed and a wall-mounted television for lazy lie-ins.

Upstairs, the final two bedrooms both enjoy Caribbean Sea views, beautiful ensuite bathrooms, ceiling fans and televisions, and air-conditioning. They share a shaded balcony with astonishing sea views, a perfect spot to start the day with a cup of coffee. There is also a small space that can be used as an additional lounge or sleeping space. You could always borrow one of the villa’s many books and head off for a quiet read.

Though the interiors of Villa Milord are wonderful, the magic happens on the outside terrace. You can dine alfresco, sunbathe on one of the six luxury loungers and cool off in the plunge pool. In moments you can be swimming in the turquoise waters or wandering along the glistening sands. It is simply magical!

Villa Milord is a fabulous holiday home that sits right next to the beach at Fitts Village. The beach is calm and tranquil, ideal for picking up your holiday book and enjoying the sunshine. The nearby village boasts several shops, bars, restaurants, and its Church of The Good Shepherd.

Holetown, Sandy Lane, Gibbes Beach and Mullins Beach are close to Fitts Village. These west coast beaches are spectacular, with a colourful array of marine life and coastal birds. The Folkestone Marine Park in Holetown spans several kilometres along the coast and was set up to preserve the coral and shallow areas inhabited by turtles. The marine park is separated into various zones, including two sports zones where motorised aquatic sports are permitted, a scientific zone and a recreational zone where you can snorkel in peace and discover the fascinating underwater world. Holetown was the site of the first British landing in Barbados in 1625 and the first settlement by the British two years later. The Holetown Monument commemorates the landing. There are many good snorkelling opportunities in the mellow waters and reefs at Holetown Beach. Fine dining is also impressive in Holetown. First & Second Streets boasts some quirky bars that embrace the spirit of the Caribbean.

Paynes Bay has a fabulous beach and a fabulous fish market where you can buy fresh local fish or watch as the fishermen bring their catches in. You can buy freshly grilled fish from the vendors with delicious Bajan side dishes and Bajan rum to wash it down every Friday.

As well as visiting the impressive beaches, Barbados boasts a gorgeous, rolling interior sprinkled with atmospheric plantation houses and wonderful lush botanical gardens. You must make sure you take a tour to visit some of them.

Barbados is famous for sports, including cricket, polo and golf. Prestigious golf clubs include The Royal Westmoreland Golf Club and the three excellent courses at Sandy Lane. Holders Hill is the main polo venue on the island, where you can spend a very civilised afternoon watching the polo while enjoying a superb afternoon tea at the same time. Cricket fans will enjoy a trip to Kensington Oval, the oldest, prime sports venue in Barbados, established in 1882. Aside from cricket, Kensington Oval is also the venue for soccer, hockey, concerts, music festivals and the summer festival of Barbados, Crop Over.

The Limegrove Lifestyle Centre is one of the most stylish, upmarket places to shop, and you can enjoy a delicious meal simultaneously. It is home to the world’s leading retail brands, including Armani, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Gucci and Ralph Lauren. The open courtyard oozes a beautiful ambience and boasts a stunning waterfall feature.

About the Island & Getting There

About Barbados

At first glance you could be mistaken for thinking that Barbados is purely a beach holiday destination, but you're urged to reconsider this common belief. The island of Barbados is peppered with astonishing landscapes (both coastal and inland), enchanting locals, sublime cuisine, intriguing rums, fascinating wildlife, symbolic architecture and a selection of striking holiday villas.

Delve deep into the history of the island and start your holiday by visiting Sunbury Plantation House & Museum. This former plantation was built in 1660's and the premises are scattered with antiquities that delicately detail a recent history of Barbados. St. Nicholas Abbey also provides an insightful representation of Sugarcane production, Bajan artefacts and a wonderful observation point at Cherry Tree Hill. If you’re keen to visit one of the oldest Parliamentary buildings within the Commonwealth and appreciate the democratic legacy of Barbados, drop by The Parliament Buildings. This neo-gothic congress can be found in Bridgetown and act as a representation of Barbados’s Independence. There is so much history present throughout the island and as a result, Bridgetown and its Garrison has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, which the locals are very proud of.

Great efforts have been made to persevere the natural beauty of Barbados, so if you’re drawn to the exploration of National Parks and multicoloured gardens, it won’t take you long to realise that Barbados is a haven for such paradises! Within the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Farley Hill National Park, Flower Forest, Hunte's Gardens and Welchman Hall Gully - visitors, and Botanist alike, will be lost for hours admiring these astonishing botanical parklands. Keep an eye out for the Dwarf Poinciana, or Peacock Flower…it’s the national flower of Barbados.

Bajan’s take their food very seriously! If you and your fellow travellers are enticed by the gastronomic aspect of holidaying, we believe you’ve selected the right island. With every aspect of cookery mastered; from pickling to freshly prepared dishes, sweet & savoury, fragrant & spicy and of course, the bountiful choice of seafood. Check out the food stalls in Paynes Bay Church – where vendors exhibit locally made dishes & street food that will scintillate the taste buds. At the end of every working week, locals and tourists both flock to Oistins, for 'Fish Fry Day'. This is a must for those who haven’t undergone the experience! The evening starts with barbecues and then ascends into a joyful party. This caps off a busy few days of work for locals as well as the 'strains' associated with serious holidaying.

Barbados is of course iconic for its Beaches & Rum…so why not bring them together? You will have to go out of your way not to be able to find a beach bar along the west coast of the island, as well as the countless Rum Shops. Yes, you’ve read correctly, Rum Shops! These small and locally run businesses embrace the Bajan spice of life, in liquid form. Very delicious! If you’re searching for something a little more special, take a trip to the east coast and visit Sand Dunes Bar and Restaurant at Windy Hill, for an unforgettable experience.

Barbados is a distinct and striking part of the Caribbean. It’s a great fit for all types of travellers, as the island really does have it all. For a little more information about this delightful island, check out our guide to a remarkable stay!

Reviews

  • We will definitely be back to this property

    on 02/04/2023

This is a great property. You cannot get any closer to the beach or the ocean. Lots of loungers and a plunge pool make it the perfect place to spend the day. You can walk the beach for about 15 minutes each way as long as it is not high tide. I would suggest water shoes to get in and out of the water out front as it is a little rocky. Ocean is gorgeous so worth the effort. House is well stocked, very comfortable, well maintained and VERY clean. It has all the amenities you can want or need. You will need a car to get to the many restaurants and shops in the Holetown.

  • Thank you for such a memorable stay

    on 12/12/2022

We had the most amazing time at Villa Milord, from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Kaysha to the time we left everything was perfect. The villa is spacious and well equipped, nothing is left wanting. The sea couldn't be any closer, lapping up the beach to the back gate where you can stand on the soft sand and watch turtles swim by. There is a fabulous large 1st floor balcony, perfect for a morning coffee or for watching the sun go down. There's private secure off road parking where you are minutes from great restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Everyone we met was helpful and friendly and you can't help slipping into the lovely relaxed way of life.
