Villa Grand is an exceptionally beautiful villa in Barbados. Built as a "labour of love" twenty years ago, it has Mediterranean style architecture with stucco walls and terracotta tiled roof that encompass terraces, balconies, patios and courtyards.
The villa extends over two wings affording plenty of privacy to guests. There is the Main House with six bedrooms, the Garden House with another two bedrooms and finally the Pool Cottage that is home to bedrooms. Each wing has adjoining gardens and its own special terraces and lounging areas. All together, there are ten en-suite bedrooms that sleep twenty people.
Between the main house and the east wing is a freeform swimming pool adjoining an inviting covered patio furnished with deep sofas, board games and a bar.
The in-house chef likes to pamper guests, turning each meal into an adventure by serving different dishes atop different crockery in different locations. After remaining closed for a year for refurbishment, the villa has only just re-opened. Designer Lynne Pemberton has done an exquisite, top-of-the-line makeover using Louise Bradley chandeliers, Ralph Lauren furniture and Missoni accessories, turning the interiors into stunning yet inviting spaces. The chef, housekeeper and gardeners take pride in making Elsewhere a home away from home.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa GrandVilla Grand has the ability to magically transport you, with treetop views, that lead to the heaving ocean beyond. The garden was designed by the Venezuelan landscape architect, Fernando Tabora who has interwoven a series of gardens in varying shapes and sizes to form a continuous whole. In the process, vistas have been created. There are shaded nooks and crannies, and features such as a Japanese bridge over a waterfall and a running stream that flows into a lily pond full of koi-carp. At night, tree-uplighters and subtle fairy lights wreak their magic, and the garden becomes a perfect place for a party.
When visiting Barbados, the first thing you are sure to notice are the gorgeous and renowned flat white sand beaches. On the west coast of Barbados, miles of coral shore beaches and fine white sands stretch along a hypnotising turquoise sea. The West Coast of Barbados is also fringed with countless breath-taking Coral Reefs to provide excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The South Coast also offers something for everyone, and is a curious mixture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can swim in calm waters, snorkel over the inshore reefs and tidal pools, and at the southernmost tip of the island, you can windsurf.
Whilst on Barbados, a taste of the island’s rum is a must! The isle has been producing rum for over 350 years, and it is recognised internationally for its quality. Many tours and taste sessions are available at the local distilleries.

About the Island & Getting There
About Barbados
At first glance you could be mistaken for thinking that Barbados is purely a beach holiday destination, but you're urged to reconsider this common belief. The island of Barbados is peppered with astonishing landscapes (both coastal and inland), enchanting locals, sublime cuisine, intriguing rums, fascinating wildlife, symbolic architecture and a selection of striking holiday villas.
Delve deep into the history of the island and start your holiday by visiting Sunbury Plantation House & Museum. This former plantation was built in 1660's and the premises are scattered with antiquities that delicately detail a recent history of Barbados. St. Nicholas Abbey also provides an insightful representation of Sugarcane production, Bajan artefacts and a wonderful observation point at Cherry Tree Hill. If you’re keen to visit one of the oldest Parliamentary buildings within the Commonwealth and appreciate the democratic legacy of Barbados, drop by The Parliament Buildings. This neo-gothic congress can be found in Bridgetown and act as a representation of Barbados’s Independence. There is so much history present throughout the island and as a result, Bridgetown and its Garrison has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, which the locals are very proud of.
Great efforts have been made to persevere the natural beauty of Barbados, so if you’re drawn to the exploration of National Parks and multicoloured gardens, it won’t take you long to realise that Barbados is a haven for such paradises! Within the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Farley Hill National Park, Flower Forest, Hunte's Gardens and Welchman Hall Gully - visitors, and Botanist alike, will be lost for hours admiring these astonishing botanical parklands. Keep an eye out for the Dwarf Poinciana, or Peacock Flower…it’s the national flower of Barbados.
Bajan’s take their food very seriously! If you and your fellow travellers are enticed by the gastronomic aspect of holidaying, we believe you’ve selected the right island. With every aspect of cookery mastered; from pickling to freshly prepared dishes, sweet & savoury, fragrant & spicy and of course, the bountiful choice of seafood. Check out the food stalls in Paynes Bay Church – where vendors exhibit locally made dishes & street food that will scintillate the taste buds. At the end of every working week, locals and tourists both flock to Oistins, for 'Fish Fry Day'. This is a must for those who haven’t undergone the experience! The evening starts with barbecues and then ascends into a joyful party. This caps off a busy few days of work for locals as well as the 'strains' associated with serious holidaying.
Barbados is of course iconic for its Beaches & Rum…so why not bring them together? You will have to go out of your way not to be able to find a beach bar along the west coast of the island, as well as the countless Rum Shops. Yes, you’ve read correctly, Rum Shops! These small and locally run businesses embrace the Bajan spice of life, in liquid form. Very delicious! If you’re searching for something a little more special, take a trip to the east coast and visit Sand Dunes Bar and Restaurant at Windy Hill, for an unforgettable experience.
Barbados is a distinct and striking part of the Caribbean. It’s a great fit for all types of travellers, as the island really does have it all. For a little more information about this delightful island, check out our guide to a remarkable stay!

A once in a lifetime experience
What can we say that hasn't already been said? 14 of our closest family & friends have stayed here for 9 days over New years. The house, has completely exceeded our expectations. Fantastic space, giving lots of privacy, with every essential item thought of.
We have partied, dined like kings and queens, swam in the pool, had massages, gone marlin fishing, used the Sandy Lane beach & the cabana, visited all the cricket grounds, met the current West Indies cricket team, met some of the all-time West Indies cricket legends, swam with turtles, and of course, have drunk vast quantities of rum.
The whole team has been SPECTACULAR!! They have absolutely been the icing on the cake of our amazing holiday. All of them have been amazingly friendly, professional and of course superb in their roles. We cannot thank you enough for your help in making this holiday a once in a lifetime experience. -
The Best Villa
When I was at Villa Grand, I had a really good time with my family. We played, explored the pond, went swimming and visited the nature reserve and Harrison's Cave. I had a wonderful time in Barbados. I think the best villa in Barbados is Grand!

The Perfect Place
We had the most wonderful week at Villa Grand. On the most special of occasions (Dad/Grandpa's 80th Birthday!), it was the perfect place to get the entire family together (kids, grandkids, everyone). The villa was an exquisite setting in every way and the memories will be unforgettable! Such an amazingly beautiful home and we were so well taken care of for our entire stay. We hope to return!

THANK YOU
Thank you everyone for a perfect vacation! We loved the views, the food and most of all the company! Fell in love with Barbados and hope to see you all in the near future. THANK YOU from your new friends in NEW YORK, STOCKHOLM & COPENHAGEN!

I would love to come back!
This place is absolutely amazing! The house is beautiful and so is the garden. We all loved exploring outside and playing on the golf course. We loved it so much that every morning my family and I would walk past all the fishes and monkeys! The house was really airy and spacious, which is what I liked most about it. Next to the television, there was a big shelf filled with a selection of movies and books, so we all loved to watch them! There were also many board games by the pool, which we loved to play. My favourite part about this house was the table-tennis room, and the pool. The staff also made our stay even more enjoyable! Overall, I really enjoyed staying at this house, and I would love to come back!

A Special Experience
Our visit to Villa Grand on the Beautiful island of Barbados was nothing less than amazing! The house was traitor up and the staff were fantastic. There was plenty of room both in the main house and in the beach house for family, fun, and fellowship. The staff were all full of joy everyday and the house was full of peace! Orville made sure we were safe each day, Roger was kind enough to transport is to the beach and to the campuses Oistins for Friday night live. Jalisa kept the place spotless, Judith kept our laundry and beach towels freshly washed and pressed daily, and we could never forget Deborah who took our dining experience to the next level. She prepared the most delightful meals everyday - from flying fish to breadfruit coocoo; from French toast to vegetable inlets; from pumpkin fritters to fish cakes- and ever sent us to the beach with gourmet sandwiches. It was certainly one of the best vacations my family has ever experienced! God bless you all!
