Location
About the surrounding area of Villa BihacLocated a short walk from Ugrinci Harbor, on the beautiful island of Pasman, just south of Zadar, Villa Bihac offers the perfect escape from the busy tourist town of Croatia, while still sitting you close enough to explore the stunning landscapes, beaches and historical cities that draw everyone here! With just 2,000 inhabitants, the island feels quieter than the mainland, perfect for a relaxing holiday. To get there, you need to make your way to Zadar, taking the regular ferry to the island. It usually takes about 25 minutes.
Forming part of the Zadar archipelago and separated from the mainland by the Pasman Channel, Pasman is known as the island with the biggest green surface in Croatia. The rapid stream of the channel, which changes its course every six hours, makes the sea one of the clearest in the Adriatic, and the beaches some of the most pristine. The coast is dotted with public beaches, most offering sandy shores and crystal-clear seawater. With shallow waters on several of the beaches, they are particularly good for families, with kids being able to swim and play safely. Matlovac is a common favourite, less than a 20-minute drive from your front door and famed for its tranquil beauty.
For those who enjoy a bit of history, the island was inhabited during the pre-historic period, leaving behind relics of times gone by. There are still remains of Roman architecture to be seen as well!
With it located so nearby you, you must visit the vibrant and historic walled town of Zadar during your stay. The town is overflowing with sights to see, from medieval churches to the well-visited Sea Organ, where several stairs descend to the sea with pipes and whistles playing various chords and tones! The town has a vibrant, bustling energy to it, the perfect balance from the tranquil setting of the villa. You can revel in its busy restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as nightlife spots for lively evenings out, before returning to the peace and quiet of your villa. The town is also a transport hub, with ferry connections to all the nearby islands, ideal if you want a day trip away from the villa to explore somewhere different.

Region
The stunning islands of Ugljan and Pasman sweep along the North Dalmatia coastline just south of the bustling city of Zadar. With their lush natural beauty and warm hospitality, these islands are a captivating destination for those seeking a tranquil getaway.
Ugljan, often referred to as the "green island," is characterised by its ever-green Mediterranean vegetation, olive groves, and pine forests. Its historical significance dates back to ancient times, making it a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
The main town on Ugljan, Preko is an utterly charming coastal village boasting a picturesque harbour and a lovely promenade. Take leisurely walks along the seafront, indulge in local cuisine at the waterfront restaurants, and immerse yourself in the town's welcoming atmosphere. A visit to St. Michael's Fort is a must! This well-preserved medieval fortress has sweeping panoramic views of
the island and its surrounding waters, making it an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts and great for a bit of historical exploration!
Ugljan boasts numerous beautiful beaches, each with its unique character. Sabusa Beach and Muline Beach are both popular choices for sunbathing and swimming, but there are numerous secluded spots to be discovered along the coastline.
Pasman, connected to Ugljan via Ždrelac Bridgebridge, is known for its pristine nature, crystal-clear waters, and a slower pace of life that means you can really switch off. Pasman is especially famous for its idyllic sandy beaches, as well as secluded natural bays - it’s a real slice of paradise, and still relatively untouched.
Tkon is the largest town on Pasman, and it's a delightful place to explore. Take a wander through the charming streets lined with stone houses, and visit the town’s Church of St. Thomas, a historic monument with more stunning views not to be missed. St. Damian’s Monastery is 12th-century Franciscan monastery, with beautiful gardens and a panoramic view from the bell tower. The monastery houses a museum featuring religious art and artefacts.
Some of the best coastal spots on Pasman include Crljina Beach, Suha Punta, and St. Damian's Bay. They’re often less busy than the beaches on the mainland, making them perfect for relaxing days soaking up the sea and sun. Ugljan and Pasman islands offer a fantastic base for a bit of island hopping. You can easily explore the neighbouring islands of Dugi Otok, Kornati, and Zverinac. Each one offers distinct experiences, ranging from national parks to secluded coves, allowing you to embark on your own unique voyage of discovery.
Immerse yourself in the local culture by attending traditional festivals and events that take place throughout the year on Ugljan and Pasman. These include seafood festivals, cultural exhibitions, and religious processions, providing a glimpse into the island's rich heritage and traditions.
Ugljan and Pasman are a captivating destination for travellers seeking a unique and off-the-beatenpath experience. With their stunning landscapes, traditional cuisine and outstanding hospitality, these islands offer a serene slice of paradise that will leave you in awe of their natural beauty.
