Overview
"Sleeping up to eight people in its generously proportioned four bedrooms, the three-story property, which has been in the owner's family for generations, is so well equipped it would be easy not to leave..." Read a full review of Hiza Histria on Mailonline >
Hiza Histria is a striking illustration of Istrian architecture, where the locally renowned Pietra d'Istria, a hardy limestone, was used to build this fine holiday villa over 200 years ago. Renovated in 2014, Hiza Histria is particularly well suited to a large group of friends or families with children. As you enter this Hiza, some of the original features have remained intact. The original wooden ceiling beams allow guests to fully embrace this rustic Hiza’s design.
There are four amply sized bedrooms scattered amongst the ground, first and second floors; each with wonderful views of the Istrian countryside. Due to the recent restoration, the bathrooms are totally fitted out with superior features like quartz countertops, non-slip ceramic tiling and even a hot tub.
The ground floor is the perfect area for relaxation! A serviceable stone wine cellar & bar area can be found directly next to a well-equipped kitchen, with a raging chimney firepit. Make yourself a drink and pop into the billiards room, where a pool table awaits. Next to this room the living and dining areas can be found, which have terrace access to the poolside and garden for some outside fun.
The exteriors grounds are an ideal place to enjoy meals and drinks. A thatched pergola stands above a stone alcove, where outdoor furniture can be found. Both of these areas are ideal for either al fresco dining or some intimate drinks. The overflow swimming pool is a great for a refreshing dip, during those warm summer months. After a quick swim, grab a drink from the bar and recline on the sun loungers surrounding the swimming pool and absorb some Croatian rays!

Istria's diverse and unspoiled landscapes will be the first thing to capture your attention! The region is renowned for its lush green hills, rolling vineyards, and enchanting coastline: the stunning scenery is a playground for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and beachgoers alike.
Offering a remarkable 445 kilometres of pristine coastline, including tranquil coves and sandy beaches, visitors can find plenty of secluded spots to soak up the sun. The clear, azure waters of the Adriatic are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and scuba diving, making it a fantastic choice for those who enjoy an active day of water sports.

The Učka Nature Park, in particular, stands out as a hiking and nature lover's paradise, offering waterfalls, historic villages, and breathtaking panoramic views of Istria's outstanding scenery.
Istria's rich history is woven into the fabric of its towns and cities. An ever popular choice for tourists is the impressive port city of Pula, full of quaint town squares and local restaurants, and home to one of the most well-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. This ancient arena, known as the Pula Arena, is a testament to Istria's Roman heritage and hosts numerous events, including concerts and film festivals.
The medieval towns of Rovinj and Motovun enchant visitors with their cobbled streets and historic charm. The Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a stunning example of early Christian art and architecture.

Wine and olive oil lovers will find joy in Istria's vineyards and olive groves, offering tastings and insights into traditional production methods. Fresh seafood, often served with a Mediterranean twist, is a staple that you can enjoy at quaint waterfront eateries along the coastline.
One of the most enduring memories visitors take away from Istria is the warmth of its people. The locals are known for their friendly, welcoming nature and their willingness to share their traditions and stories with tourists. You'll find yourself immersed in the local way of life, whether you're exploring ancient towns or enjoying a meal in a family-run tavern.
Istria is easily accessible, with Pula Airport serving as a major gateway. Once you arrive, navigating the region is a breeze with well-maintained roads connecting major towns and villages. Language barriers are minimal, thanks to the widespread use of English, Italian, and German, alongside the local Croatian language.

A Beautiful Villa
It was a beautiful villa, just a little bit to far away from coast otherwise, it would have got five stars.

We will go back!
The pool is gorgeous, the perfect sun trap with enough shade to get away from the heat. All of the bedrooms are a good size and the kitchen, with its central island, is great for preparing family meals. We would definitely go back.

A fantastic find
Quite simply the best villa we have stayed in in the past 10 years. The property itself was absolutely stunning having been completed to the highest of standards. Plenty of room both inside and out, a great swimming pool and a pool (snooker not swimming) room which was well used! We spent days in the pool and evenings on the terrace watching the sun go down. All rooms had air conditioning, which was good as temperatures during our stay were between 35 and 40 degrees! Nearby was a great restaurant called the Borgonja in the lovely settlement of Visnjan- just 5 minutes away. Last, but not least, the property’s owners Suzanna and Sandy were just great. Always helpful and going that extra mile to ensure our enjoyment and relaxation. Thanks so much to you both for making our holiday in your beautiful villa exceptional. We fully recommend it and hope to be back soon.

A beautiful villa
A beautiful spacious villa for multiple couples and their children to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We especially loved the pool table in the cellar and the lovely outdoor eating areas. This villa is a home from home and has everything a family needs to relax and have a brilliant holiday. It's a 25-minute drive from the Aquapark Istralandia, voted one of the best waterparks in Europe and a short drive from the pretty seaside town of Porec with its water inflatables for kids, restaurants, quad biking and other activities.

Full of character!
This villa is simply outstanding. It's full of character and we thoroughly enjoyed the owners telling us about the history of it belonging to their grandmother and how they have tastefully decorated it but retained its original charm and tradition. It had everything we wanted, and more, to enjoy our time away. Loved the addition of an honesty bar wine cellar and pool table.

Amazing
This is the most beautiful house I have ever seen in my life and it was one of the best vacations I have ever spent. It is well and calmly situated. And it absolutely looks like it can be seen on the photos. We were very kindly and warmly welcomed by Susi and would like to thank the whole family for this unique experience.
