The villa is perfect for a family or group of six, with one person sleeping on the couch in the living area.

A villa full of colour and character, on the ground floor you’ll find your own private parking garage, a fitness room for those who want to stay fit and fabulous – especially when the food and wine in the area is so delectable jacuzzi, infrared sauna, bathroom and shower and many forms of entertainment, including a dancing pole, billiard table, football table, dartboard, and television. Your villa is packed to the rafters with fun.

On the first floor you’ll find the kitchen and dining area, designed to be communal so you can prep, eat and be together. The living room is a lovely and lively place to lounge and boasts satellite TV and a nearby bathroom. You’ll also find two bedrooms, each with their own balcony, an ideal way to greet the day. Each room has Wi-Fi, air conditioning and satellite television.

The outdoor terrace boasts a pool with shower, sun loungers and parasols so you can shield from the summer sun, and an outdoor dining area with a fire grill.

With gorgeous sea views, the glimmering Adriatic will make your stay mellow and miraculous. You’re also free to bring pets (on request) to make this a truly enhancing family experience.

A huge assortment of appliances are included for your convenience including a coffee machine, oven, fridge, freezer, toaster, microwave, stereo, and pool table.

The villa itself is hard to miss – surrounded by vivid green, you’re in the heart of Croatia’s beauty, and your sunshine yellow home is ready to greet you. Its traditional red top nestles there nicely. Inside, you’ll find minimalist décor with a touch of summer – yellow curtains are ready to ensconce you in darkness at bedtime and to be parted in the morning to welcome in the day. The burnt-orange curtains in the living room mimic a sunset.

Simple, but with elegant and personality, this is a beautifully modern but comfortable harm which will quickly charm you and your party.

It’s not hard to see why people choose to come to Croatia. It’s popular but still a classic remnant of the old world, and achingly beautiful.

You’ll be based in the village of Kotisina, with its sleepy and gentle pace of life – a great energy for those who wish to replenish themselves far from reality. An easy-going village, here you can experience a taste of traditional Croatia. There are many sights on your doorstep including the Kotisina Botanical Garden and the medieval castle of Veliki Kastel which sits beneath the Biokovo mountain. From here, you can see unadulterated views of the beguilingly blue Adriatic Sea and the many islands that adorn it – most of which you can visit.  Don’t forget the skywalk – it’s a thing to experience and offers a tiny taste of adrenaline.

The centre of Makarska is 3.5km away and the beach a further 4km. A port town, the area is famed for its beaches, delightful seafront promenade (ideal for people watching) and its thriving nightlife which attracts a youthful brigade. It’s a brilliant place to be settled, as you’ll find yourself cornered by woodland, the sea, and its islands and the towering Biokovo mountain, a great site to see golden eagles. Wind your way to the summit for a taste of adventure. The Riviera is a wonderful place to hike, bike and enjoy endless water sports, as well as delicious food.

From the harbour of Makarska, you may wish to visit the islands of Brac and Hvar. Brac is favoured for the famous Zlatni Rat (golden horn beach) and is a sublime spot for swimming and snorkelling – it teams with marine life. Hvar is a popular summer resort and notorious for its 13th century-walls, fortress, and gorgeous square. Here is the place to go to experience old Croatia at its best. You can also explore some exquisite lavender fields inland or venture further out to the Pakleni Islands for more private beaches and coves.

Further afield, you may wish to explore the village of Blato na Cetini for a trip to the Cetina River and beach. Here, you can partake in rafting, canoeing and take to the water with a skipper by boat which is one of the best ways to enjoy the water. It goes without saying that diving, swimming, and snorkelling shouldn’t be passed up here either – Croatia’s water is famously clear in many areas.

Of course, it goes without saying that you must see Split – a UNESCO world heritage sight with so much to offer in terms of history, culture, food, and beauty.

Croatia is much like a Russian doll – with every new twist, you’ll find a new turn. The only limit is your imagination.

Region

Makarska, perched between the Biokovo mountain range and the glistening waters of the Adriatic Sea, is a stunning destination where nature's grandeur takes centre stage. The imposing mountains rise dramatically behind the town, creating a striking backdrop for the entire region. With its distinct Mediterranean climate, visitors can expect warm summers and mild winters, making it an ideal year-round destination.

The Riva - the town's seafront promenade - is a focal point of the community, where locals and visitors alike gather to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Lined with palm trees and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, the Riva is the perfect place to unwind, take in the scenic views of the sea and settle into the Croatian pace of life. As the sun sets over the Adriatic, Makarska comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene. The Riva transforms into a lively hub of entertainment, with street performers, live music, DJ sets, and a chance to mingle with locals and fellow travellers.

If you're a history enthusiast, Makarska's rich heritage and historic sites will surely pique your interest. The Church of St. Mark, built in the early 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's strong Catholic tradition. The Baroque architecture and stunning altarpieces make it a notable religious landmark.

For a deeper dive into the past, the Makarska Franciscan Monastery, founded in the 16th century, houses an impressive collection of artefacts including ancient manuscripts and artwork. The monastery's cloister and church are architectural marvels in their own right. Within the complex, the Malacological Museum showcases an extensive collection of seashells, a testament to the region's maritime heritage.

The Makarska Riviera boasts a series of blue-flag beaches and crystal-clear waters, ensuring a perfect setting for relaxation and water activities. The most famous is the Makarska Beach itself, stretching for almost 2 kilometres and offering a plethora of water sports, sunbathing spots, and beachfront cafes. While sunbathing and swimming are the primary draws, you can also indulge in snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and jet skiing to experience the vibrant underwater world of the Adriatic.

Heading north along the Makarska Riviera, you’ll come to the town of Brela, famed for its pristine beaches. One of the best, Punta Rata, is often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. The crystal-clear waters and the iconic Brela Rock jutting from the sea make it a picture-perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming.

The Biokovo Nature Park, often overshadowed by the coast, offers a different but equally wonderful experience. Here, the rugged mountain terrain allows for hiking, trekking, and adventure in the heart of nature. There are several well-marked trails that lead you through lush forests, up to the highest peak of Sveti Jure (St. George), providing breathtaking panoramic views of the Adriatic and the surrounding islands.

Day trips to nearby destinations are also a great way to explore the broader region. The islands of Hvar and Brač are easily accessible by ferry and make for fantastic day excursions. Hvar is known for its beautiful old town and lavender fields, while Brač is famous for the stunning Zlatni Rat beach.

This enchanting coastal region, characterised by its stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and vibrant atmosphere, is undoubtedly a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the diversity of the Dalmatian region. Whether you're a nature lover, history buff, or simply in search of a relaxing coastal escape, Makarska offers something for every traveller.

Many families pick Croatia because its both beautiful and secure – a perfect combination for a family holiday. It also holds a certain vintage glamour and is almost unspeakably pretty. It’s a great way to enjoy culture, nature, and fun all in one.

Based in the village of Kotisina, you can enjoy the botanical garden and medieval castle immediately. These are your closest sights. You’re right under the Biokovo mountain here and something you absolutely must do is explore and see the sights from the mountain’s heights. The sea, its many islands and the gorgeous coastlines look astonishing from here. You may also catch sight of a golden eagle. Makarska is not far from you and is your main hub – its great for beaches, restaurants, and a delightful promenade as well as its daring glass walkway. There’s a great nightlife scene perfect for older kids and very family friendly should you go as a clan. Croatia is family oriented so you can embark on all things together. You could easily spend much of your time here eating, swimming, biking, hiking and of course, enjoying water sports for which the area is famed. Perhaps a jet ski jaunt deep dive or paragliding might make your list?

Something that’ll excite adults and children alike are the wonderful islands of Brac and Hvar, which you can easily visit from Makarska’s harbour.

Brac holds the gorgeous Zlatni Rat (golden horn) beach and is a famed golden slice of heaven carved into a triangular shape by nature itself. The water here is translucent and flourishing with life.

Hvar is a very popular place and a great spot to explore old squares, churches, fortresses, and lavender fields. You can also use it as a springboard to take the children to the more remote and less populated Pakleni Islands to explore private coves and long swathes of sandy coastline.

The Cetina River and beach is not far, and you can enjoy rafting, canoeing and your own boat tour of the gorgeous area. With Split being your nearest airport, you won’t want to miss this splendid part of the world. Consider Marjan Park, a walking tour of Old Split, the Klis fortress for awe-inspiring views, Froggyland for a quirky and curious experience, the Game of Thrones Museum, and don’t forget to pick up some things from the Green Market for an impromptu picnic. There’s also a mall if you want to get the kids out of the sun and into a different type of fun.
