Location
About the surrounding area of Villa BorealisVilla Borealis is located in the Istria region in northern Croatia. Surrounded by open countryside, the whole family has space to unwind and relax to the sound of the birds.
If you want to venture into civilization, Poreč is the place to be. Poreč is a bustling town filled with charm, history and local hospitality. The narrow streets are teaming with history dating back to Roman Empire. The town’s most famous landmark is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Euphrasian Basilica, which dates back to the sixth century. Here, you will see golden mosaics and unique architecture that has been beautifully preserved. The main street in Porec, the Decumanus, which runs through the centre of the old town, was once the main road during the Roman times, letting you walk in the path of the Roman Empire. Cafes and restaurants line the streets, allowing you to sample the local cuisine.
There are serval beaches in proximity to Villa Borealis. Poreč’s main beach is a pebbled shoreline with direct access to the cooling waves of the Adriatic Sea. Here, you can enjoy swimming, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, try one of the many water sports. Other beaches nearby include Parentino Beach, north of the Poreč’s centre, which is close to a sandy section of coastline, great for young families wanting to enjoy the shoreline.
Find adventure and explore the area from the waters. There are plenty of kayaking or canoeing tours along the coastline or down the many rivers that weave their way through the countryside, like the Mirna River, north of the villa. Suitable for all abilities, Mirna River boasts excellent scenery and ideal paddling conditions. The whole family can enjoy this activity and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Another site well worth a visit lies south of the villa, the city of Pula. With a long tradition of winemaking, fishing and shipbuilding, Pula is filled with Roman architecture and surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. The Roman architecture includes the temple of Augustus Cathedral, the Roman Forum, City Hall and, impressively, an amphitheatre. The street beneath the terracotta rooftops is a maze of cafes, restaurants and shops waiting for you to discover. Due to its conflicting past, there are many forts in and around Pula for you to explore.
