Location
About the surrounding area of Villa SperanzaVilla Speranza is located on the seafront in the beautiful village of Rogoznica, near to the famous Frapa Marina and promenade and between the popular tourist destinations of Sibenik and Split. The area is nestled within a cove, protected from strong winds and is one of the safest harbours on the Adriatic coast. The village has a rich tradition of fishing and farming, and there are still many fishermen here today, so fresh seafood is always on the menu - as well as the region’s famous Rogoznica stew.
The Frapa Marina is one of the most beautiful in the Adriatic, and is bursting with cafes and restaurants as well as a sports centre, swimming pools and a nightclub - so you’ll always find plenty to do here. Rogoznica has a long coastline with a number of both rocky and sandy beaches, including Sepurina beach, a pebble beach with a Blue Flag award for cleanliness and quality of service. The beach is ideal for families with small children thanks to the ease of access and available facilities that include showers, toilets and changing rooms, umbrellas and sun loungers. There’s no shortage of taverns and restaurants in the area, all offering a variety of locally-sourced fish and meat dishes. Local favourites include octopus salad and three-fish carpaccio.
Sailing and diving are popular pastimes here, and boat hire and diving courses are available in spades along the coast. Fishing excursions are another big draw to the area, with anglers of every ability hoping to land tuna, Marlin and wild sea bass - ask along the marina if you’re interested in a big game fishing excursion, and someone will be happy to ‘hook’ you up. Sports lovers will enjoy visiting the Marina Frapa Rogoznica Sports Centre, where you’ll find a bowling alley, gym, pool and large outdoor chess set, as well as facilities for playing tennis, squash, table tennis and boules.
If you’re self-catering during your stay, you’ll have no problem finding everything you need in Rogoznica. There are good-sized supermarkets in the area and a fish market, pharmacy, post office, and souvenir shops.

Region
The quaint coastal town of Rogoznica, situated between the vibrant cities of Split and Šibenik, is a paradise for those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. With its idyllic setting, inviting beaches, and a good dose of history and culture, Rogoznica is the perfect destination for a memorable vacation.
The heart of Rogoznica is its old town, which is a maze of narrow streets and stone buildings that date back to ancient times. A stroll through the cobblestone streets is a great way to get to know the town, taking in the charming architecture, and stopping at local cafes and shops along the way. The town is a seamless blend of old-world charm and modern luxury, and exploring on foot is a wonderful way to experience this.
One of the town's highlights is the Church of St. Nicholas, a stunning architectural masterpiece that overlooks the marina. This 15th-century church is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of the town's rich history. The nearby fortress, Gradina, is another must-visit spot. The fort offers panoramic views across the town and the turquoise waters, making it a fantastic place for photographs and a little historical exploration.
Rogoznica is known for its magnificent Marina Frapa, a world-class yacht marina and a destination in itself. The marina is a luxurious hub for sailing enthusiasts and travellers who enjoy the maritime lifestyle. Stroll along the promenade, have a meal in one of the waterfront restaurants, and admire the yachts in the harbour.
Rogoznica's captivating environment extends beyond the town itself. Its location between the historic cities of Split and Šibenik, each approximately 30 kilometres away, serves as a perfect base for exploring the Dalmatian coastline of Croatia. You can easily reach these culturally rich destinations for day trips while enjoying the peaceful ambiance of Rogoznica as your base.
Nearby, there are several attractions that provide a glimpse into the region's natural beauty. One of the most famous is Lake Zmajevo Oko, or the “Dragon's Eye Lake”, situated just a few kilometres inland. Surrounded by lush forests and rocky terrain, this unique saltwater lake is said to have been created by a meteor impact, and it is both a geological and ecological wonder.
If you're an adventurous traveler, the region offers a variety of outdoor activities that are sure to satisfy your craving for exploration. Hiking and biking trails cover the area, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The Kozja Staza trail is a notable route that leads you through olive groves and vineyards, offering a glimpse into the traditional Mediterranean way of life.
Rogoznica is a place of timeless beauty, with history, culture, and natural wonders working together to create a truly memorable vacation experience. From its charming old town and enchanting marina to the delectable cuisine and a plethora of outdoor activities, this coastal haven has it all. Immerse yourself in the magic of Rogoznica, and you'll leave with cherished memories and a longing to return to this Croatian paradise.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Speranza is beautifully spacious and private, making it a good choice for families with children. Caution will need to be exercised with little ones in the pool and bbq areas, near the indoor fireplace, and around stairs and balconies. One of the bedrooms features two queen-sized beds, perhaps ideal for parents who would rather room share with the youngest family members, and cots are available on request.
With so many beaches, activities and attractions available in Rogoznica, it’s no wonder that this is a popular destination with families with children. The brightly coloured Dragon’s Eye lake is a top attraction here, fascinating for children and adults alike. This oval-shaped lake is flanked by cliffs ranging from 4 to 24 meters in height, making it a spectacular sight. The lake contains layers of water painted by nature. The water near the surface appears green and blue, with yellow and green at the centre, and the high concentration of sulphur and lack of oxygen in the bottom layers, making the water appear pink, red and purple. Legend has it that a fearsome dragon sleeps within the lake, and the changing colour of the water signals his awakening - so get the kids to keep a lookout!
There are plenty of beaches in the area, both pebble and sandy - most with excellent family-friendly facilities such as toilets, showers and changing rooms, as well as sun lounger and umbrella hire. You’ll find no end of ice-cream and souvenir shops, bicycle and boat hire along the coast either, and plenty of places to eat and drink that cater to all tastes - however fussy!
If you want to venture out of Rogoznica with the kids, the town of Primosten is just 20 minutes away and is home to the popular Raduca beach. It is a pebble beach rather than sand, which isn’t unusual in the region, but the whole family are sure to enjoy splashing about in the clear, clean water, which features plenty of shallow areas. During the summer months, you can often find attractions set up on the beach here, such as bouncy castles and trampolines - ideal for letting the kids burn off some energy while you sit back and enjoy the sea air.
