Region
The quaint coastal town of Rogoznica, situated between the vibrant cities of Split and Šibenik, is a paradise for those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. With its idyllic setting, inviting beaches, and a good dose of history and culture, Rogoznica is the perfect destination for a memorable vacation.
The heart of Rogoznica is its old town, which is a maze of narrow streets and stone buildings that date back to ancient times. A stroll through the cobblestone streets is a great way to get to know the town, taking in the charming architecture, and stopping at local cafes and shops along the way. The town is a seamless blend of old-world charm and modern luxury, and exploring on foot is a wonderful way to experience this.
One of the town's highlights is the Church of St. Nicholas, a stunning architectural masterpiece that overlooks the marina. This 15th-century church is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of the town's rich history. The nearby fortress, Gradina, is another must-visit spot. The fort offers panoramic views across the town and the turquoise waters, making it a fantastic place for photographs and a little historical exploration.
Rogoznica is known for its magnificent Marina Frapa, a world-class yacht marina and a destination in itself. The marina is a luxurious hub for sailing enthusiasts and travellers who enjoy the maritime lifestyle. Stroll along the promenade, have a meal in one of the waterfront restaurants, and admire the yachts in the harbour.
Rogoznica's captivating environment extends beyond the town itself. Its location between the historic cities of Split and Šibenik, each approximately 30 kilometres away, serves as a perfect base for exploring the Dalmatian coastline of Croatia. You can easily reach these culturally rich destinations for day trips while enjoying the peaceful ambiance of Rogoznica as your base.
Nearby, there are several attractions that provide a glimpse into the region's natural beauty. One of the most famous is Lake Zmajevo Oko, or the “Dragon's Eye Lake”, situated just a few kilometres inland. Surrounded by lush forests and rocky terrain, this unique saltwater lake is said to have been created by a meteor impact, and it is both a geological and ecological wonder.
If you're an adventurous traveler, the region offers a variety of outdoor activities that are sure to satisfy your craving for exploration. Hiking and biking trails cover the area, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The Kozja Staza trail is a notable route that leads you through olive groves and vineyards, offering a glimpse into the traditional Mediterranean way of life.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere’s plenty at Villa Valorosa for the kids to enjoy, including recreational facilities such as darts and table football, free WiFi, a sauna and a gym. Younger children will enjoy splashing about in their private pool, as well exploring the spacious rooms - and guests of all ages are sure to be wowed by the incredible sea views. One of the bedrooms features two queen-sized beds, perhaps ideal for parents who would rather room share with the youngest family members, and cots are available on request.
The kids are sure to be delighted to discover that there are plenty of beaches in the area, both pebble and sandy - most with excellent family-friendly facilities such as toilets, showers and changing rooms, and the chance to hire sun loungers and parasols. Sailing and diving are popular pastimes with visitors here, and boat hire and diving courses are available for all ages and abilities. Sporty kids will enjoy visiting the Marina Frapa Rogoznica Sports Centre, where you’ll find a bowling alley, gym, pool and large outdoor chess set, as well as facilities for playing tennis, squash, table tennis and boules.
If you want to venture out of Rogoznica with the kids, the town of Primosten is just 20 minutes away and is particularly child-friendly. The famous Raduca beach is always a hit, thanks to its clear, shallow waters and the attractions often set up here during the summer months. The beach is pebbled, as are most in the region, so beach shoes are a must and are readily and cheaply available in one of the many shops along the promenade.
Eating while in Primosten as a family is stress-free, as you’ll find something to tempt all taste buds, from traditional local dishes and seafood to pizzas, ice cream and everything in between. The streets are quiet and winding, perfect for family walks, and some local sights might impress the little ones - not least of all the Our Lady of Loretto statue - a 17-metre shrine to the Virgin Mary, which is located on Gaj Hill above Primosten and offers incredible views of the town.
