Location
About the surrounding area of Villa KlementinaThe small town of Skradin lies at the entrance to the Krka National Park, famed for its magnificent waterfalls. The town packs in some impressive sights of its own, and the view from the bridge which crosses the River Krka is one. The whole town is designated as a protected cultural monument, and it will be easy to understand why as you potter around its charming centre.
The town lies close to the river where a marina and a host of waterside restaurants can be found. This is perfect country for walking or cycling, and it’s easy to take a boat trip too. The river will eventually lead you south to the stunning town of Šibenik, around 20km away. This is a trip you should definitely make, with its medieval centre the part of town to see. Make the climb up to St Michael’s Fortress to get a bird’s eye view.
Also in Šibenik, the elaborate St James’ Cathedral holds World Heritage Site status, and was constructed entirely from stone sourced from nearby islands such as Brač and Korčula. Worth a visit too are the Mediterranean Monastery Gardens, a fun aquarium and the Šibenik City Museum. In summer, the town hosts some great festivals, including the International Children’s Festival, which brings music, dance, children’s theatre and film to Šibenik.
It’s a little over an hour to Split and Zadar – Šibenik lies roughly halfway between the two. In Split, there’s Diocletian’s Palace and much more of historical note, while Zadar is becoming known for unique attractions like the Sea Organ and the Sun Salutation – both truly memorable experiences.

Region
Cradled along the shimmering shores of the Adriatic Sea, Šibenik is an ancient coastal city that sits equidistance from the larger and busier cities of Zadar and Split. By contrast to these larger destinations, Šibenik offers a glimpse into a more local way of life. With its well-preserved medieval core, magnificent fortresses, and the ethereal beauty of Krka National Park at its doorstep, Šibenik is a destination that captivates the hearts of travellers seeking an authentic Croatian experience.
Šibenik's Old Town is home to one of Croatia’s ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the iconic Cathedral of St. James. The cathedral is a true masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, a testament to human ingenuity and craftsmanship. The intricate frieze that adorns the cathedral's exterior tells stories from the Bible and local history, leaving visitors in awe of the skill and artistry of the craftsmen who dedicated their lives to this grand project. Stepping inside, the awe-inspiring interior of the cathedral continues to leave visitors breathless with its intricate stone vaulting and a serene atmosphere.
A visit to the Šibenik City Museum reveals the rich maritime history of the region, showcasing ancient ship models, navigational instruments, and artefacts from the city's seafaring past. Šibenik's maritime heritage is also celebrated during the annual International Children's Festival, a tradition that dates back to 1958 and unites children from all over the world in a cultural exchange of art and music. Children from around the world participate in various artistic and cultural activities, making it a unique experience for young travellers.
Šibenik’s calendar comes alive with festivals and cultural events throughout the year. The Šibenik Evening of Dalmatian Chanson is a tribute to the region's musical heritage, where local and international artists perform the soulful songs of Dalmatia. For those seeking a more contemporary cultural experience, the Terraneo Music Festival brings renowned musicians and electronic music enthusiasts to the city. This eclectic blend of events ensures there's always something happening in Šibenik, from lively street performances to classical concerts in historic settings.
Just a short drive from the city, Krka National Park is a haven of cascading waterfalls, lush greenery, and crystalline rivers. The park's centrepiece is the Skradinski Buk waterfall, a stunning series of cascades that plummet into a serene pool. The park is not only a feast for the eyes but also a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including various bird species and aquatic life. Hiking trails and wooden walkways wind through the park, allowing visitors to explore its beauty at their own pace.
A boat trip along the Krka River offers a unique perspective on the park's natural wonders and historical sites, including the Visovac Monastery, a peaceful island sanctuary that has stood for centuries.
Šibenik is a gateway to the stunning Dalmatian islands that dot the Adriatic Sea. Day trips or longer island-hopping adventures are easily arranged from the city's port. Islands like Kornati, Prvić, and Zlarin offer pristine beaches, clear waters, and the opportunity to experience the tranquility of island life. Kornati National Park, also known as the "nautical paradise," is a sailor's dream, with its rugged islands and countless coves. Charter a boat or join an organised tour to explore this unique archipelago, which is a protected natural wonder and a playground for divers and snorkelers.
Whether you're wandering the picturesque cobbled streets of the Old Town, basking in the natural splendour of Krka National Park, or savouring traditional dishes in local eateries, Šibenik promises an unforgettable journey through history and the magic of the Mediterranean.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesAll the family are sure to love Villa Klementina, because they have thought of pretty much everything. From the magnificent pool terrace and covered play area to an amazing sauna and all the tech you could wish for, it’s a magical place for a family holiday.
The region is particularly great for nature lovers, with the vast Krka National Park to explore, and the gorgeous coastal town of Šibenik has some wonderful sights to see, as well as plenty of entertainment.
Those looking for aquatic fun should head to Solaris Aqua Park, which is home to six exhilarating water slides, a wide range of waterfalls, pools and, of course, the relaxing Lazy River. If you are looking for some respite from the sun, the Aquarium is a perfect escape. There is a notable reptile and lizard section too, if you’re looking to scale back on the fish displays!
The Sibenik Falconry Centre is located further inland. This organisation’s aim is to care & rehabilitate injured birds and educate people about wildlife conservation. Demonstrations and interactive exhibitions are held during the day, so check out the timetable.
If the children are more interested in playing the sun, Happy Horse Farm will be an exciting prospect. Horse and pony rides can be arranged, as well as cart rides. If you and your children haven’t been riding on the beach before, this would be an experience the family wouldn’t forget.
If you are travelling around June & July, keep your eyes peeled for The International Children’s Festival, which is held in Sibenik. Workshops, open air theatres and performers fill the streets for a few weeks and kids are captivated.

A beautiful villa!
A beautiful villa, perfect for a luxurious and relaxing break and what a fantastic stay! The villa is beautiful inside and out. The kitchen was so well equipped, the best we've experienced on our travels. The outside space makes for a relaxing holiday, we loved using the sauna once the sun went down. Set in beautiful Bicine, it's just a short distance from Skradin with it's picturesque marina, restaurants and small supermarkets. We appreciated the personal touches and Josip's warm welcome, looking forward to coming back!

Exceptional
Villa Klementina more than exceeded our expectations. The villa is fully equipped and very luxuri-ously furnished. The pool area is breathtaking! The hostess Maya was always there to help us and provided us with immediate help when the car broke down and surprised us several times with homemade delicacies. We can only recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to relax away from the hustle and simply enjoy life. Trogir, Split and Zadar are in the immediate vicinity and there is a lot to discover!
