With the city of Split only 5km away, you will find Villa Visnja in the Dalmatian village of Kučine. In a peaceful location with beautiful surroundings, this 6-bedroom villa with swimming pool enjoys panoramic sea views and offers a wealth of outdoor space.

The 8.5m x 3.7m pool is just one of the attractions at Villa Visnja – you also have a fully equipped gym and table tennis, plus a spacious terrace with sun loungers, a large barbecue and covered outdoor dining area. There’s another covered seating area just outside the house, and yet more to enjoy on its many balcony terraces.

Inside, you’ll find two living and dining areas, fully air-conditioned and complemented by well-equipped kitchens. The living area on the ground floor has direct access out to the pool terrace, and the kitchens benefit from all the appliances you could need, from a coffee machine to dishwasher.

Two of the six bedrooms are on the ground floor, a triple and a double, along with a family bathroom. On the first floor, a double, twin and two singles can be found, along with another two bathrooms, so there is lots of flexibility for families and large groups.

The grounds of the villa offer plenty of privacy when enjoying the pool, terrace and dining areas. The villa is conveniently located for local amenities too, with the centre of the village 0.2km away.

As Croatia’s second city, nearby Split has a lot to see and do, so make sure you don’t miss Diocletian’s Palace, the Mestrovic Gallery or Cathedral Sveti Duce, to name but three of its must-see attractions.

Culturally rich, there’s art, architecture and opera to seek out in Split, while the coast which stretches out east of the city has some hidden gems of its own, including scenic Stobreč and Jesenice.

The village of Kučine lies inland but only around 10 minutes’ drive from the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. With the large city of Split only 5km away, it’s well-placed to introduce you to all facets of life in the region.

Perched on the Adriatic, the city boasts beautiful sunsets, exciting cuisine, great art and tons of history. Among its big draws is the Split Gallery of Fine Arts, Archaeological Museum and the Mestrovic Gallery, showcasing the work of the country’s most celebrated sculptor. There are great beaches and shopping too, giving this major port city a little bit of everything.

Right on the tip of the peninsula, the expansive green spaces of the Marjan Forest Park are another great reason to visit, while tours out to see the beautiful waterfalls of Krka are also justly famous.

The ancient ruins of Diocletian’s Palace are perhaps the Split’s best-known attraction and guided walking tours of this, Saint Domnius Cathedral and other local landmarks are a great way to get a feel for the place.

If you work your way east of Split, you will find yourself on a scenic stretch of coast. Within a 30-minute drive of the city are Stobreč, Podstrana and Jesenice. All are worth stopping for – as the beauty of the Adriatic is always worth admiring.

Look out for the wooden ships at Jesenice, which can take you on a pleasurable journey, perhaps towards nearby Omis or the island of Brac. If you make it to Omis, just a little further, you’ll be in the adrenaline sports capital of the area, with spectacular zip-wire and water-sports adventures all part of this historic town’s modern-day appeal.

Region

The city of Split, with its magnificent historical sites, scenic coastal vistas, and a welcoming local atmosphere, is a must-visit destination for travellers in search of the perfect balance of culture, relaxation, and adventure. Nestled along the captivating Dalmatian Coast, it’s a vibrant mix of modern life and ancient history, making it a thriving hub for both locals and tourists.

The heart of Split is the historic Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world. Built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century, this massive complex now forms the nucleus of the city. Within the palace walls, you'll discover a labyrinth of narrow streets, charming squares, and historic buildings. The Peristyle, an open-air courtyard, is a central gathering place, and both the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the Temple of Jupiter showcase remarkable examples of ancient architecture. Strolling through the ancient streets, you'll come across quaint shops, lively cafes, and local markets.

The Riva promenade is the city's vibrant waterfront hub. Lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops, it's the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll, sip a coffee, or dine while overlooking the stunning Adriatic Sea. The palm-lined promenade offers a lively atmosphere day and night, with street performers and events throughout the year.

Just a short walk from the from the centre of Split is Marjan Hill, a pristine nature park that offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city streets. The park features lush greenery, jogging trails, and stunning viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea. It's an ideal place for hiking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the Mediterranean.

The Split region offers a variety of beautiful beaches. Bacvice and Ovcice are two popular choices conveniently located near the city centre. The sandy shores are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and trying your hand at the local beach sport, picigin. Exploring further along the coast, you'll find numerous rocky coves and pebble beaches, each with their own unique charm.

For adventure seekers, Split offers a wide array of outdoor activities and water sports. From kayaking and paddle-boarding to sailing and scuba diving, there's something for everyone who wants to experience the Adriatic up close. Split is a great base for taking boat trips to the nearby islands, where you can explore underwater caves and secluded beaches.

Croatian cuisine is known for its fresh, local ingredients and Mediterranean influence. You’ll be able to savour delicious seafood, grilled meats, and traditional recipes. To experience authentic Croatian flavours, visit the local konoba (taverns) that serve traditional dishes like pasticada (a slow-cooked beef stew), and peka (baked meat and vegetables). Pair your meal with local wines and olive oils for a complete gastronomic experience.

Split is a city of remarkable beauty and historical significance. Whether you're exploring ancient streets, soaking up the sun on pristine beaches, or indulging in delectable local cuisine, Split promises an unforgettable experience. Its blend of stunning natural landscapes, ancient history, and a welcoming Mediterranean lifestyle makes it a destination that offers something for every traveller.
