Just 10 to 15 minutes away, the party town Ayia Napa offers fantastic evening entertainment as well as amazing beaches.

Villa Caliana is trendy, bright and sparkling, both inside and out. The design is astonishing. It is minimalist and sleek with open plan living. It most definitely makes the best use of the space. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the living and bedroom spaces ensure it is bright and beautiful. Modern, vivid art breaks up the calming white and grey tones. Modern, cool furnishings compliment the stylish design. You will be so happy to wake up in Villa Caliana! This brand new, sensational development is extremely peaceful despite being so close to the centre of Protaras.

The ground floor of Villa Caliana is open plan with a pristine kitchen, a lounge with sofas, a widescreen wall-mounted TV and a modern log fire and the lovely indoor dining. Huge, trendy bi-fold doors open the whole space to the spectacular terrace and pool. The garden area has astroturf and lovely planting which surrounds the delightful swimming pool. You can enjoy your holiday read on one of the villa’s sun loungers. The outdoor shower is very handy. Fantastic alfresco dining can be enjoyed using the villa’s barbecue and small kitchen area. Villa Caliana also has the added advantage of a rooftop terrace with lounge furniture and splendid sea views. A staircase leads directly from the pool terrace to the roof terrace via the first floor. The roof terrace is the perfect spot for early evening drinks and to watch the glorious sun go down.

The villa’s two fabulous bedrooms are on the first floor. One is a double and the other a twin though the beds are next to each other. Villa Caliana boasts a superb location, just minutes from the facilities of Protaras and the town’s breathtaking, idyllic Fig Tree Bay. Like many other beaches, Fig Tree Bay has Blue Flag status and offers a fantastic array of watersports for the whole family. Watersports include parasailing, jet skis, water skiing, wakeboarding, banana boats and other fun inflatable rides. There are numerous lively bars and restaurants serving delicious food, cocktails and frappes. The name of the bay comes from the lone, centuries-old fig tree in the middle of the beach. There is a rock cave at the north end of the beach.

Protaras is a very scenic area with picturesque coastal paths and hiking trails to Konnos Beach, Louma Beach and Lombardi Beach. It is possible to take boat trips, either private or on day trips, to discover the lovely coastline. Green Bay, Cyclops Bay, the Chapel, the Canyon, the Blue Hole and the Nemesis III and Liberty ship wrecks are popular for scuba diving.

Ayia Napa boasts 14 Blue Flag beaches, delightful, charming cobbled streets and a Medieval monastery though it is mostly known for its vivacious and colourful nightlife. There are some lovely tavernas on the harbourside.

Hiking and cycling are popular in Cyprus, particularly around the majestic Troodos Mountains. Fikardou and Machairas are well worth visiting on the trip as well as one of the many vineyards that drape the foots of the hills. The wines are delicious. The cool, pine-scented mountain air is wonderful on a hot day, and you visit lonely, historic monasteries.

If you enjoy shopping, you can head to Nicosia. As well as being very pretty, the pedestrianised Laiki Geitonia area is wonderful for shopping. Within the town’s sandstone Venetian walls there are charming churches, museums and unique jewellery and fabric shops as well as a great selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.

Region

Perched on Cyprus’s stunning southeastern coastline, Protaras is a Mediterranean jewel boasting sky-blue seas, sun-soaked beaches, and laid-back touches of traditional charm. What is more, Protaras’ serrated coastline of coves and promontories means there is no shortage of shallow, serene bays that are ideal for families, swimming, and watersports.

The famed Fig Tree Bay, with its shallow, protected water and golden sands is the most popular beach, and regularly listed among the best in Europe. Named after the lone fig tree set amidst its pristine sands, this quaint inlet is a picturesque retreat for sunbathers and snorkelers alike, but it’s also only the beginning of Protaras’ delightful qualities.

If you’re looking for a slightly quieter spot to sunbathe and dip your toes in the calm, Mediterranean waters, make your way south across the Fig Tree Peninsula to find a series of bays, including Green Bay which is a laid-back and excellent spot for snorkeling where you might even be lucky enough to see a sea turtle!

But snorkeling only scratches the surface of Protaras’ spectacular coastline, as it is a haven for scuba divers of all levels of experience. The region boasts a number of fantastic dive sights including the Green Bay Caves, the wrecks of the Liberty and the Nemesis, and the wonderful submerged gallery of statues which is close enough to shore to be accessible to divers and snorkelers alike. But if getting your feet wet isn’t your bag, not to fear, the coastline is equally wonderful to explore on a private boat tour. Tours explore highlights such as Cape Greco, Konnos Bay and the lovely Blue Lagoon.

Anyone looking to put their hiking boots to good use will revel in Protaras’s sublime selection of hiking options, from the rugged Cape Greco National Park to the unique Paralimni Lake – a natural saltwater wetland area swamped with migratory birds including herons, ducks, and even pink flamingoes. Cape Grego National Park is well known for its breathtaking landscapes and boasts several hiking trails. What is more, the Park offers a bevy of swimming spots so make sure to bring your bathers.

Far from limited to natural wonders, Protaras is also a culinary adventure. The town’s tavernas are brimming with grilled halloumi and souvlaki, and serve as the perfect spots to sit and relax as twilight turns to evening and the strum of bouzouki music serenades the streets and promenades. But don’t get too comfortable, because the night won’t end there. Protaras has a lively nightlife which centres on The Strip where numerous bars and clubs are open until late into the night, offering plenty of music and entertainment to keep the party going.

With its splendid assortment of natural wonders from serene bays to rugged landscapes, and no shortage of activities, attractions, and alluring culinary delights, Protaras is a picturesque location for a perfect vacation whether you’re a young family or a group of firm friends.
