Overview
Stay in the heart of a working vineyard at Château des Etoiles, a sustainable wine estate close to the Gironde estuary. Surrounded by rows of organically farmed vines, this beautifully restored 18th century chartreuse offers a timeless French experience - one where nature, heritage, and understated elegance exist in perfect harmony. Sleeping up to 14 guests, it’s a setting designed for long, laughter-filled lunches, sunlit afternoons by the pool, and evenings spent savouring the château’s own wines on the terrace.
Every corner of Château des Etoiles tells a story. From the original stonework to the cosy fireplace, the interiors balance historic charm with warm, modern touches. Seven individually styled bedrooms, each with a queen-size double bed, invite uninterrupted rest, while the fully equipped kitchen and living-dining spaces create a natural flow for gathering and entertaining. Downstairs, a well-equipped fitness room ensures there’s space for both movement and relaxation.
Outside, the heated swimming pool sits overlooking the vines, perfect for a morning swim or a cooling dip at golden hour. A barbecue awaits for alfresco meals to be enjoyed on a raised stone terrace with idyllic views towards the surrounding scenery.
Château des Etoiles also boasts its own wine-tasting room – tastings and tours of the vineyard and cellar can be arranged. Other services for an extra charge include private chefs or catering, transfers from the airport and/or Bordeaux city centre, and additional cleaning on request.
Just a short drive from the charming village of Bourg and less than an hour from Bordeaux itself, Château des Etoiles offers the best of both worlds: privacy in nature, with world-renowned wine towns and cultural highlights just a short drive away. Day trips to Blaye’s famous citadel, the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, or the elegant streets of Bordeaux are all within easy reach.
Whether you’re here to explore the winemaking process or simply to unwind in a breathtaking setting, every moment lingers just a little longer at this unforgettable Gironde retreat.

What you should know…
- Here you are part of an organic vineyard with staff working on the estate. Wine tastings and personalised tours of the vineyard and cellar can of course be arranged at an additional cost.
- The estate may occasionally host wine tours and tastings to outside visitors (in which case your paths may cross by the wine-tasting room). It is rare but if this does happen, the owners will always inform you in advance.
- Families are warmly welcomed at the estate – if travelling with youngsters, just be aware that there are a few steps, terraces and traditionally low stone walls across the grounds.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chateau Des EtoilesPart of an organic and sustainable 20-hectare working vineyard in the rolling hills of Gironde, Château des Etoiles offers the perfect setting for a relaxing yet enriching French escape. This area, surrounded by gently rolling hills and rows of vines, is a haven for those who love nature, fine wine, and the laid-back pace of life in south-west France.
Part of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, wine-tastings and tours of the on-site facilities can be arranged at the château for an additional cost, as can guided wine tours further afield across your chosen Bordeaux appellation.
Just a short drive from the château, the charming village of Bourg-sur-Gironde (3.5km) delights visitors with its cobbled lanes, ancient ramparts and views over the estuary. Here you will find a small handful of lovely restaurants as well as an award-winning bakery and a good-sized supermarket.
Venture a little further and you’ll reach Blaye (13km), home to the UNESCO-listed Citadel de Blaye, a masterpiece of Vauban’s military architecture with panoramic views and scenic riverside walks. There are also some lovely cycling routes from Blaye passing vineyards and the estuary as well as a greenway between Blaye and Étauliers, part of the Canal des Deux Mers à Vélo.
For a taste of city life, Bordeaux (41km) is less than an hour away — an elegant city famed for its classical architecture, buzzing quays, and world-class museums, restaurants and boutiques. Furthermore, don’t miss the lively town of Libourne (39km) with its fantastic open-air market three mornings a week, brimming with regional produce, perfect for assembling a gourmet picnic.
Wine lovers are perfectly placed to explore the vineyards of the Bordeaux region and beyond. From Blaye, take the car ferry across the Gironde to reach the prestigious wine villages of Pauillac (33km) and Margaux (28km), where iconic châteaux and grand crus await. Or venture to the UNESCO World Heritage listed vineyards surrounding the medieval hilltop town of Saint-Émilion (47km), one of France’s most famous wine destinations.
For a change of scenery, you’re within easy reach of the Atlantic coast — whether it’s a family beach day in Royan (90km) or surfing the waves at Lacanau (95km via Bordeaux or slightly closer via Blaye), both make for unforgettable day trips.
