From wine connoisseurs and history enthusiasts to Francophiles wishing to experience authentic south-western France, Le Domaine Des Vignes is a wonderful family home close to historic villages and market towns, only an hour from Bordeaux and Bergerac.

Next to vineyards of the Entre-deux-Mers wine region, this traditional Gironde house dates back to the 19th century and welcomes up to 7 guests across its five bedrooms. The owners have a keen eye for interior design and have worked hard to create a welcoming and genuine home with the perfect blend of old and new décor and furnishings.

The lounge features a Smart TV alongside a wealth of books and a pool table whilst the spacious dining area and open-plan kitchen has everything you need for family feasts. There is a small double bedroom downstairs with an en suite shower room and access to one of the terraces. Upstairs there are four further double bedrooms with Smart TVs, two with queen-size double beds including the master bedroom and its en suite bathroom.

There are many spots to relax outside with space for al-fresco dining, lounging in the sun, playing boules and even practising your golf on the mini pitch and putt! There is a sauna and a small outdoor exercise area as well as the fantastic swimming pool for long summer afternoons in the sunshine. The vast grounds are glorious and there are beautiful vineyards just across the road.

It's wonderful being just a short drive from Monségur, a historic hilltop village overlooking the Dropt valley. There’s an award-winning boulangerie in the village as well as restaurants and a pretty market hall with a weekly Farmer’s market. If staying in July and August, be sure to experience the atmospheric marché nocturne where you can enjoy good local food accompanied by wine and music.

Furthermore, nearby La Réole hosts a Saturday morning market, recently voted one of the most beautiful in France. A little further afield, visit other idyllic gems of south-western France from the Dordogne’s Eymet, Issigeac and Bergerac to other wine destinations including Duras, Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion. Closer to home, tour local vineyards and purchase AOC Entre-deux-Mers wine to enjoy back home on your picturesque terrace.

In the Gironde countryside, close to the Lot-et-Garonne border, Le Domaine Des Vignes is set in a vast estate surrounded by vineyards, a short drive from pretty villages and historic towns. Fly into Bergerac or Bordeaux Airport, both just under an hour away, or take the fast train service from Paris to Bordeaux with onward connections to nearby La Réole (9km).

The house is set off a country road - pass vines as you drive to the small local village around 4km away, home to the nearest bar-restaurant, or continue to historic La Réole by the banks of the Garonne for a wider range of amenities and a delightful Saturday morning market, recently voted one of the most beautiful markets in France. Indeed, savour the regional cuisine across nearby restaurants and markets – you are near the ‘orchard of France’ with so many fruit and vegetables grown across the region, not to mention foie-gras, ham, beef and seafood including Arcachon’s famous oysters.

To the north is Monségur (7.5km) overlooking the Dropt valley, with an excellent bakery, restaurants, a weekly food market as well as canoeing and fishing along the Dropt River. In the height of the summer the marché nocturne usually takes place on a Wednesday evening (July and August) – a great way to try good local food accompanied by wine and music.

This is an ideal location for wine-tasting with Entre-deux-Mers produced across the area, the largest wine region of Bordeaux. Follow a guided wine route allowing you to discover up to 16 AOC Entre-deux-Mers wines nearby or venture further afield to explore the vineyards near Duras, Bergerac, Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux itself.

Make the most of walking and hiking routes across the region whilst the Canal Latéral is loved by cyclists with its voie verte. Pass vineyards, sunflowers, orchards, farmland and corn fields as you walk, cycle or drive through the surrounding scenery. There are also canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Garonne, Dropt and Dordogne Rivers.

Appreciate the rich heritage of this region as you visit medieval castles along historic villages and towns. As well as nearby Monségur and La Réole, other historic highlights include Sauveterre-de-Guyenne (21km), Duras (17km) and the incredible Abbaye de La Sauve-Majeure near Créon.

The Dordogne River is also within easy reach with Castillon-la-Bataille (36km) and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande (33km) just over half an hour away for more wonderful markets, history and nature. Some of the Dordogne region's most idyllic villages make fantastic days out including Issigeac (58km) and the bastide village of Monpazier (82km), officially classified as one of France's 'Plus Beaux Villages'.
