Overview
Maison Breton is a charming and relaxed holiday home close to some wonderful Brittany beaches and within walking distance to the exquisite town of Morlaix.
Set in an attractive residential area, this traditional maison has been renovated in recent years to create a contemporary and very comfortable place to stay. On the ground floor the living and dining space is brilliant with its parquet flooring, cosy sofas and an elegant modern kitchen with everything you may need. Upstairs, just off the stylish mezzanine landing, are three double bedrooms and a twin, offering great options for a family or group of friends.
Outside, summer hydrangeas and verdant trees create a lovely atmosphere in the garden with its pleasant terrace for al-fresco dining and lounging as well as a portable barbecue. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or glass of French wine and there are even some deckchairs too.
Head out of the gates of your Maison Breton and just a short walk away is the picturesque River Morlaix. Stroll by the banks of river, admiring boats and historic buildings as you approach Morlaix’s grand viaduct and the heart of the town. Wander along its narrow and sometimes steep lanes and look out for magnificent architecture including the unique 16th century Maisons à Pondalez. It’s a town filled with history, art and character and it’s a joy to explore.
You also have some beautiful beaches close by, the nearest being the bays around Carantec, just 15km away, ideal for sand-castles, seeking shells and rock-pools. When the tide is out you can walk out as far as the glorious l'île Callot for the most stunning coastal scenery. For a change of scene, drive to the marine town of Roscoff with all its character and charm, then hop on a boat to the serene L'île de Batz, a paradise for walkers, cyclists and lovers of nature.
From art and history to natural coastal beauty, Maison Breton is such a superb holiday home for exploring the very best that this part of Brittany has to offer.

Location
About the surrounding area of Maison BretonMaison Breton is in a superb location in Brittany, under half an hour from Roscoff ferry port and within walking distance to the historic town of Morlaix.
The house is situated in an elevated residential area, just a short stroll (around 600m) from the banks of the Morlaix River. You can wander into the heart of Morlaix in around twenty minutes – it’s an extraordinary place with beautiful historic houses (including the half-timbered ‘maisons à pondalez’ dating back to the 16th century), picturesque narrow lanes and the impressive viaduct. The port is a lovely spot for a coffee or local beer and there is a fantastic market on a Saturday morning. It’s a great town with so much local character and it has a reputation for its art as well as its history.
For a day by the sea, start off at some of the beaches near Carantec, around 15km away, perfect for sand-castles and rock-pools. Check the tides and in the right conditions you can walk out to l'île Callot and yet more stunning beaches and scenery. Plage du Kélenn has a sailing club whilst Plage de Tahiti is an idyllic place with gorgeous views.
The beaches around Locquirec and Plestin-les-Grèves, both around 20km away, are also brilliant and this is a wonderful area for walking. Keen walkers should also discover the Voie Verte trails near Morlaix, also popular with cyclists (bike hire is available in Morlaix).
Roscoff is another charming place to spend some time, well famed for its thalassotherapy spas and excellent restaurants serving local specialities of seafood soup and dishes made with Roscoff’s delicious onions. Boat excursions depart from Roscoff, either touring the coast in traditional vessels or heading to L'île de Batz, a beautiful island with walking paths, an abundance of nature and beaches.

Region
Brittany is famed chiefly for its beaches, and with so much coastline to explore it’s certainly one of the best reasons to visit the region. But there’s more to Brittany than sun, sea and sand, and while a good chunk of our villas and chateaux in Brittany are found next to the coast the ones further inland are just as tempting. Want to get the inside scoop on Brittany before you book? You’ll find our full Brittany travel guide below, full of tips, inspiration and great things to do.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesIt’s great being so close to Morlaix with the kids – it’s an enchanting and historic town which is a joy to explore. Youngsters will enjoy a ride on the little road train that tours around the town in the summer and look out for the carousel.
The beaches around Morlaix are simply superb, whether you head to Carantec, Plouigneau or Plestin-les-Grèves and Locquirec. The shores are fantastic for sand-castles, rock-pools and hunting shells when the tides are out. Some of the bays have little playgrounds whilst watersport enthusiasts should look out for sailing clubs and surfing schools.
Boat trips are also popular – take the short journey to the fascinating and dramatic Château du Taureau in the sea or catch the boat from Roscoff to the wonderful L'île de Batz with its cycling and walking paths as well as nature and beaches. There are also other exciting sea excursions departing from Roscoff.
There is horse-riding, pony-trekking and plenty of lovely family walks nearby, especially along the Voie Verte, also popular with cyclists (you can hire bikes in Morlaix).
On very rainy days, just a short drive away you will find a bowling alley and soft-play to keep young guests amused.
