Great Value
Ideal for Kids Walk to Village

Set in a village in southern Brittany, this holiday home is all about inviting interiors, a fantastic private pool and being a great base for exploring the beautiful town of Vannes and the incredible Morbihan Gulf.

Having undergone a recent renovation, Maison Marjolaine and its annexe offer elegant furnishings and ample space for up to 12 guests across six bedrooms. In the main house, the lounge is modern in style whilst the open-plan kitchen-diner is light and airy thanks to the garden windows and doors. Find four attractive bedrooms alongside two shower rooms whilst the contemporary-style annexe, right next door, offers two further doubles and more characterful living space making this home ideal for an extended family or group of friends.

Relax in the large garden by the swimming pool and play a game of boules before gathering together to feast by the barbecue on the south-facing terrace. Throughout the day the garden is a wonderful space to spend time with loved ones, perhaps before wandering out to the local restaurant in the village.

There are walks straight from the village whilst within a short drive you will find a golf course, or head to the Base de Loisirs, usually open in July and August, for summer watersports and fishing. Yet one of the greatest draws of this region is the historic town of Vannes, a jewel of Brittany. Visit on market day to pick up all sorts of regional produce, seek out fresh fish including oysters from the Morbihan Gulf or simply stroll around the town with its medieval lanes, 13th century ramparts, elegant gardens and atmospheric port.

There is so much to discover across the Morbihan Gulf whether you explore by boat, bike or foot – come across tiny islets, rare wildlife and the most beautiful scenery including gorgeous beaches by the ocean. Take a ferry to two of the largest islands, hire canoes or kayaks and visit oyster farms – whatever you do you’ll be surely mesmerised by this incredible part of Brittany.

Set in a rural village in southern Brittany, Maison Marjolaine and Annexe is around a 40-minute drive from the historic town of Vannes and the stunning Morbihan Gulf.

The small village has a bakery, pharmacy, butchers, bar and restaurant and there is also a playground within a short stroll. You will find further amenities including a large supermarket in the nearest town, Malansac, around 6km by car. Historic Rochefort-en-Terre (10km) is also a pleasant local town to visit with its museum and château.

As well as a 9-hole golf-course around a 5km drive away, you can enjoy attractive walks straight from the village. A little further afield, families will love Parc De Préhistoire De Bretagne, between Rochefort-en-Terre and Malansac, where you can enjoy large model dinosaurs set amongst the trees whilst the Moulin Neuf Base de Loisirs, usually open in July and August, has fishing as well as kayaking, canoeing, pedalos and other watersports. For older children and adults, the Moulin Neuf Escape Game centre may be a good option for rainy days out.

The historic town of Vannes, the capital of the Morbihan, is about forty minutes by car. It’s a wonderful place to spend the day whether wandering along its picturesque Promenade de la Garenne following the town’s ramparts, relaxing in the pretty Jardin des Remparts, exploring the charming medieval lanes or soaking up the atmosphere by the port at Place Gambetta. Visit on a Wednesday or Saturday morning to experience the fantastic market or look out for the indoor markets including one specialising in fish from the Morbihan coast (from scallops and spider crab to oysters, depending on the time of year).

A boat tour is a fine way to get to know the beauty of the Gulf of Morbihan and there are ferries out to the two largest islands - Île-aux-Moines is perfect for cycling whilst Île-d'Arz is a walker’s paradise.

Discover wild shores such as Plage des Granges, Plage de Bétahon and Plage des Barges or spend time by the beach at the seaside resort of Damgan, about a 30-minute drive away. Look out for a wealth of watersports, a great way to admire the scenery whether by paddle-boat, canoe or kayak, and there are ample fishing spots, bird-watching opportunities and of course the famous oyster farms of the Morbihan Gulf.

Region

Brittany is famed chiefly for its beaches, and with so much coastline to explore it’s certainly one of the best reasons to visit the region. But there’s more to Brittany than sun, sea and sand, and while a good chunk of our villas and chateaux in Brittany are found next to the coast the ones further inland are just as tempting.
