"Agatha Christie meets Sherlock Holmes" springs to mind when initially venturing around this classic French Village House, featured in The Times 50 Best breaks in France for 2016.
The living space is quirky but comfortable. The property boasts 4-Poster Beds, a free-standing ball and claw slipper bath and Henri II revival furniture. All of these combined create the perfect place setting for a “costume drama for up to 8 guests”.
Quirky indeed! The design of this house has been tastefully executed and designed with guests "wanting to feel they have chosen somewhere special" in mind.
The property was fully re-furbished in 2014/15 with William Morris Wall wall coverings complimented by a palette of Farrow and Ball Estate Range colours to accentuate and harmonize with the period details, without attempting too bold a statement!
Located in the heart of Brittany, equidistant from both coasts, you have the perfect opportunity to immerse into French-life during your stay in a small village, rich in amenity and all within pedestrian distance.
Maison Meneac is well situated to discover the popular tourist sites the region has to offer.
Meneac Village has a population of circa 2,000 inhabitants which has the advantage of not turning into a tourist ghost town out of season, making it a great location all year round.
What you should know…
- The village restaurant is usually only open at lunchtimes, but there is a fully equipped kitchen which could rival even professional ones!
- Despite the intimate and secluded location, the property is a short drive from many tourist sites: hire a car and do some sightseeing!
This home is a part of our Great Value Collection!

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The Architecture. I've always wanted a 2nd Empire Napoleon III French Country House.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Built in 1882: Maison Meneac, by structure, complete with its distinctive Mansard Roof and incorporated Dormer Windows, front and rear, was built to reflect the exuberant Paris / Versailles style which, in Vogue, was adopted by wealthy ostentatious property owners at that time. A visual and tangible status reflecting power and success for the few that could afford such luxury within their community.

Wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay. The house was beautifully presented and the local area was lovely. We will be sure to visit again!

Not your typical holiday rental
Wow - Maison Meneac was superb. The description and photographs of the house do not do it justice. The owners have taken care renovating and decorating the house in a unique style that adds charm to the old building.
The house was ideal, giving everyone their own space and something to do (wifi, tv, games, outdoor space). The house was clean and well stocked, more like a home from home than a typical holiday rental.
The enclosed private garden was larger than expected, giving us plenty of outdoor space.
While the village of Ménéac is small, it has all of the things you might need - bakery, shop, bar, chemist and church. Being small also means it is quiet and relaxed, which we enjoyed. Everyone we met in the village was friendly and welcoming. There is a larger supermarket about 10 minutes away in Merdrignac. Ménéac is the ideal location for exploring Brittany. -
Wow!! What an amazing place!!
We could not believe our eyes when we entered La Maison Manoir - the house is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are all stunning and so well equipped. We had everything we could possibly want and more. The attention to detail was superb from the beautiful decoration to the picnic baskets in the regal bedrooms. We will definitely be back. We have told everyone we have seen since our return that they must try to book up and stay here. We will most definitely return. Thank you so much for such a brilliant holiday home. Oh by the way, the garden is beautiful too.

Lovely house in Brittanny
Lovely house, sympathetically restored in French style. Enclosed garden with generous garden furniture. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Very much like moving into a real home rather than a typical holiday rental. Excellent communication from owner and good local support. Meneac very quiet and relaxed town with small supermarket, bars and chemist. Beautiful cakes available daily! Nearby, towns with larger shops and good selection of restaurants. Lovely lake walk 5 mins by car. Local people very friendly and happy to chat. Good base for visiting Brittany. Overall can highly recommend for quiet, relaxing holiday.
