In a beautiful and natural setting, surrounded by four acres of glorious grounds, Château De Fremont is a charming château ideal for family holidays, a reunion with friends or a romantic wedding in an ideal location in rural Burgundy.
The château has a fascinating history; it was built in 1900 for a famous French actress by her lover, giving it a true air of romance. In World War II the château was sold to the Red Cross and it was used as a war hospital for French and British soldiers. In more recent times it has become a delightful and comfortable holiday home as well as an ideal setting for special celebrations.
The vast four-acre estate is wonderful for walks through the gardens and forest, playing tennis with the kids or simply relaxing by the heated swimming pool followed by a barbecue.
Inside, the interiors have been thoughtfully renovated with ample space on the ground floor to chat with friends in the living rooms, watch movies in the home cinema room or prepare meals in the semi-professional kitchen to serve by candlelight in the delightful Orangerie. Twelve bedrooms across the first and second floor offer room for up to 32 guests, including some quad rooms perfect for a gathering of extended family.
Furthermore, the renovated Coach House, available alongside the château, offers three pretty en suite bedrooms with balconies overlooking the countryside as well as two apartments, sleeping up to a further 22 guests. With its own private garden and terrace, it’s a great option for wedding parties or larger groups looking for extra space.
The hospitable yet discreet owners live on the grounds and can arrange a daily continental breakfast or simply deliver croissants and fresh bread to your kitchen every day. They have an extensive wine list that guests can buy from whilst wine-tastings can take place in local wineries across one of the world’s most famous wine regions.
Indeed, you are close to the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune and Côte d’Or where incredible wines can be sampled and landscapes of vineyards can be admired. Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, is just forty minutes away, as is the famous Route des Grands Crus, which will not only appeal to wine lovers but also those who appreciate fine cuisine with many Michelin starred establishments across the Beaune region.
Closer to home, the Roman town of Autun has a wonderful weekly market as well as many historical treasures to discover. Meanwhile, nature lovers will adore the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, a protected nature park where you can pursue all sorts of outdoor activities in an outstanding setting.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chateau De FremontChâteau De Fremont is part of a small commune with just the château and two farmhouses. A small village is around 3km away whilst a village with a restaurant, grocery shop, boulangerie and butchers is just 8km away in Épinac.
The château is an excellent starting point for exploring the local area and taking part in a wide variety of activities. It is located south-east of the Morvan Natural Park between Autun and Beaune.
Beaune (38km), Autun (20km), Nolay (13km), Chalon-sur-Saône (40km), Dijon (80km), and Château-Chinon (60km) are nearby and provide many kinds of touristic and cultural opportunities: museums, festivals and exhibitions. The area also includes numerous châteaux and other historical sites, including world famous vineyards and wine cellars where you can taste and buy excellent Burgundy wines by the bottle or ‘en vrac’. The château has all the information needed to plan your trips.
There are also excellent walks available around the château, with many trips starting there. They range from 4km upwards depending on how strenuous you want the walk to be, but all of them will provide stunning views and sights. The Morvan Natural Park is the perfect place for walking and would be ideal for you to bring a picnic. There are also some great outdoor activities across this region.
The nearest golf course is in Autun, an excellent 9 hole course which is 20 km from the château and 18 hole courses can be found in Beaune at 40km, Chalon at 40km and Dijon. Angling is also very popular in this area and the château can obtain a permit for you should you wish to do this.
There is plenty for children and families to do in and around Burgundy including visiting a zoo, an adventure park, going go-karting or making pottery. There are also excellent restaurants suitable for families. Children also enjoy spending time at the château and making the most of the swimming pool, the tennis courts, the play area and the many ball games that they can play on the lawns.

5 stars is not enough - I would give more if I could!
We spent our 10th wedding anniversary at the chateau with almost 50 of our friends and family. Everyone had a fantastic time, and they were blown away by the majestic chateau and it's beautiful grounds.
The swimming pool and the tennis courts were a big hit, but for me what made the experience even more special was the warmth and generosity from the owners Renche and Geert.
Our chef (from an agency recommended by a 3rd party) who was confirmed over 3 months in advance pulled out 5 days before our anniversary dinner. However Renche and Geert saved the day by finding us a replacement who they know well and have worked with in the past. As as result we were still able to enjoy a lavish three course dinner which was cooked and served with perfection, despite the short notice. I wish I lived locally so I could invite them over for dinner to say thanks!
Geert also organised a wine tasting for our group, and demonstrated a great local knowledge of the well-selected wines. This was one of the weekend highlights for all participants, and Renche shared some of her homemade products with us. They also organised a local chef to cook paella one evening (highly recommended, the paella was delicious), and a pizza truck on another evening.
The cherished memories of the weekend will be talked about with friends and family for years and years to come. -
Would highly recommend.
I went to the chateau for a friends daughters wedding. Beautiful chateau, lovely ornate rooms, swimming pool and picturesque grounds with lake. Wonderful hosts. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful and calm chateau
In 2019, I discovered this beautiful, calm and warm place, Chateau de Fremont where I did a photo shoot of a wedding couple. Thank you to the kind owners for opening their doors to me and for their kindness.

The setting is beyond beautiful
I can't recommend the chateau enough for a wedding celebration. They helped me execute the most magical wedding. We had a shabby/chic wedding there on Saturday and I had the most beautiful wedding I think I've ever seen to date. It was a complete dream and Renche is just superb at organization. She planned and executed everything with me and I thank her so much for her organization and hospitality. Who knows - maybe we'll have our 10 year anniversary party there too! The setting is just beyond beautiful - it was something from a fairytale. The atmosphere is very romantic, excellent services provided, attention to little details were good.

Nice big property!
A large family party of 24 spent 10 days in July at Chateau de Fremont. We have spent several intergenerational family holidays together in France and Italy and so are used to the sort of properties available for large parties. An honest review follows:
- The location is fabulous, with beautiful grounds, a tennis court and lovely swimming pool, which was much appreciated as it was unusually hot there.
- The caretaker/manager lives at the restaurant/ chambres d'hotes on site and she was really helpful. We ate at the restaurant on two occasions and the food was delicious. They even catered for our vegan member, I would recommend eating there.
- The bedrooms were fine, the beds were comfortable.
- The kitchen was a great communal space, with a huge dining table.
- There were two downstairs sitting rooms and another smaller dining area, these were great to escape to, when you needed some peace and quiet. The tv with satellite channels was useful.
- There are plenty of tables and chairs outside and a couple of small BBQ's for your use, it is a pretty place to sit and eat.
It was a great holiday and there aren't many properties of this size and price to rent. -
Three days of laughter and smiles
My booking with Oliver's Travels was for a weekend at the Château de Frémont in Burgundy. I discovered the place on their website and it seemed a divine intervention when I discovered that the only weekend free of bookings coincided with my 80th birthday. Without further fuss I was able to invite the fifty of so persons in the three branches of my family spread through France and England to come together for the first time in 23 years. Three days of laughter and smiles. Not a tear, not a grump !

We had a great stay at Chateau de Fremont
I booked Chateau de Fremont with you and stayed there at the beginning of August this year (6 - 13th). The gathering was for my father in laws 70th and the whole family (24 of us) got together and had a great time.
Chateau de Fremont was great because of the facilities also and would like our next holiday home to have similar to entertain energetic children and adults! Swimming pool, golf, tennis, fishing - close to small town, markets - not too far from airport. Thanks so much!

Wonderful environment
Un marriage, mais pas comme les autres...
We wanted to have special wedding with the theme 'A room with a few'! A special 3-day festive program with 40 of our closest friends and family
in a wonderful environment in one of the niciest areas of France... and that's what we've got in Chateau! -
Successful and memorable holiday
Firstly, to let you know we had an excellent week at the Chateau; the weather was pretty good and the proprietor, catering and caretaker's teams all really kind and helpful. The catering service was just right and was used most nights by some 18-20 people. Everyone had a good time and full use was made of the tennis court and swimming pool. We would recommend it to others. Thank you Oliver and the Chateau personnel for all the help in arranging this successful and memorable holiday.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
