Maison Bourguignonne is the ideal family home in the heart of Burgundy. It sits in a peaceful setting surrounded by lush countryside and stunning views over the Morvan National Park, yet within a 25-minute walk to a charming market village.
The village is one of the largest in the Morvan. It has all amenities including good local restaurants, various boulangeries, a butcher, an excellent cheese shop, antique shop and a small weekly market, as well as a large monthly market which takes over the whole village. There are also other pretty walks in the area which lead to the village. It even has a Lido with tennis facilities.
This 200-year-old barn has been restored with care and features many rustic and charming features like exposed wooden beams, stone walls, terracotta floors and a large stone fireplace with wood-burning stove. Modern creature comforts have not been forgotten and include flat screen TV with Bose Home Cinema with I-Pod docking station and Sky TV.
Maison Bourguignonne was created for memorable family holidays. There is a billiard table, board games books, boules court, children's swing, Weber gas barbecue and a lovely terrace with outside speakers for alfresco dining.
New for 2021, a walled garden has been lovingly created with over 20 different types of herbs as well as soft fruits. You may also be lucky enough to taste cherries from the orchard (so divine!) or the many grapes from vines trailing over the beautiful new arbour.
The local area not only offers plenty of typical Burgundian gastronomic delights, but lots of adventure too, from white-water rafting to lazy cycle routes along the Nivernais Canal and rambles in the National Park. The spa town, St Honoré les Bains, with Spa and indoor pool is only seven kilometers away.
This lovely home in the heart of Burgundy is the ultimate family retreat which combines tranquility, charm and modern comfort in an idyllic setting.

Little Sustainability Gems About the Property:
In terms of the maison itself, most of the furniture has been upcycled or sourced locally from the local brocant, and they use local artisans for all the renovations in the property. A no-chemical cleaning system has been implemented for the cleaning staff, and Ecover products are provided for the guests to use. In terms of the local community, the owners pay tax de sejour for the community of communes Bazoir, Loire and Morvan, and the revenue from this tax is reinvested in the local area, as the house is located in the Morvan National park. They have also voluntarily contributed funds towards the renovation of the local Chateau in Moulins Engilbert throughout the restoration period.
Please note that all extras are subject to availability and must be requested in advance of the holiday (prices on request). Due to some rural/remote locations, not all services will be available at all properties. However, we will always do our best to fulfil your requests.

We had a very relaxing week.
We had a very relaxing week. The house was well equipped but the highlight was the pool. The children spent many hours playing in it.

I hope we will be back next year!
What a lovely house! Great pool, and perfect for families with small children as it has a fence around it. The sound system is great for sitting on the terrace, and the evenings are so peaceful - stars and crickets. We saw a lovely red squirrel bouncing across the lawn, and so many gorgeous lizards. Really recommend it for a relaxing family holiday. I hope we will be back next year!

Lovely location & good facilities for a family holiday
Lovely location & good facilities for a family holiday. We all loved the pool, which is safe & adequately fenced off for young children. Large garden for games & plenty of shade during the whole day.

Reunion holiday
Lovely rural place for a family reunion. Well appointed home, lots of crockery, glass and good kitchen equipment. Great BBQ and a really lovely pool which was hugely important as a means to keep cool during the extreme heat we experienced while there.

Fun in the sun
We had a week here at the end of July 2020 and had a great time - the house is terrific, lots of space, a great pool and garden. We all enjoyed the stay. The main challenge for us was a heatwave, and the property did get very warm. Worth bearing in mind if you are coming at the height of summer. The main highlights were the pool and the wonderful outside spaces for eating & relaxing - the space under the willow was particularly good on a hot day.

Fantastic week in a great place!
We spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is well appointed and furnished both inside and out. The pool was loved by the children and there was plenty to do nearby.

Luxury barn-conversion located inside the Morvan National Park; French equivalent to The Lake District in UK
We had one of the most relaxing weeks ever in this sympathetically converted barn with huge roaring fire. Great walking and mountain biking routes on the doorstep and village nearby with good sized supermarket and various boulangeries too. Our favourite was the immense collection of local cheeses. Wine-shopping half way between Beaune and Sancerre, we were spoiled for choice!
Planning another trip back in the Autumn. -
Could not have asked for better
No complaints whatsoever. Large comfortable house, large garden (great for dog). Location excellent - near a small hamlet with quiet lanes but supermarket only 5 minutes away by car and the Canal du Nivernais only 10 minutes by car, giving good flat walking along the towpath. A house we were sorry to leave and to which we plan to return.
