Overview

Pool Villa/House Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Parking Space

Villa A Spiaggia is a fantastic Corsican villa with gorgeous views of the gulf of Porto Vecchio from its swimming pool and a little beach just 200m below. Close to a prestigious hotel with a gourmet restaurant and lounge bar, you are also well positioned for driving to one of the island’s most iconic beaches, Plage de Palombaggia.

Watch ferries and sailing boats glide by as you sit out on the pretty stone terrace by your inviting holiday home. There is ample room to lounge al-fresco with a glass of Corsican rosé and a view of the sea or cook up a feast on the barbecue by the dining patio. Wander down the steps, admiring the Mediterranean plants around you, and find the sparkling swimming pool and its spacious poolside terrace.

Inside Villa A Spiaggia, the living and dining space is bright and airy whilst the contemporary kitchen is well-equipped. There are three bedrooms with space for 6 guests, including an en suite double and a twin with a mezzanine sleeping level above for two additional guests, bringing the total capacity to 8 guests. At the very top of the house, admire yet more vistas of the sea as you step out on to the master double’s balcony and indulge in the bedroom’s freestanding bathtub on a raised platform.

There’s a little beach around 200m below the villa whilst some of Corsica’s most famous coastal spots are within easy reach by car - Plage de Palombaggia is 7km away with its pine trees, white sands and turquoise coloured sea, so idyllic for scuba-diving.

Soak up the ambience of bustling Porto Vecchio with its natural harbour, marina and warren of charming lanes in the old quarter, and don’t miss the exquisite town of Bonifacio, home to a historic citadel perched above the limestone cliffs.
The rugged interiors of the island also await whether you choose to follow the winding lanes towards Zonza and the Col de Bavella, spend the day hiking through La Forêt de l'Ospédale or seek out waterfalls and rockpools by the Cavu and Solenzara rivers.

Villa A Spiaggia is located facing the gulf around 7km from the heart of Porto Vecchio. Figari Airport is 24km away whilst Bastia Airport is 133km by car, reached in just over two hours via the main road connecting the north-east and south-east of the island.

Passing neighbouring villas, there is a little beach around 200m below the villa which can be reached on foot. You are also a very short drive to two upmarket hotels with excellent restaurants – book ahead. The closest one features two Michelin stars and there is a separate grill and lounge-bar for more relaxed dining on a panoramic terrace.

You are well positioned for reaching one of the island’s most popular beaches, Plage de Palombaggia, around 7km away. Head there early to grab a parking space in the height of the summer, then enjoy the white sands, beachside restaurant and crystal-clear sea which is wonderful for snorkelling. Plage Santa Giulia (10km) is just a little further whilst there are other picture-perfect bays and coves dotted around this part of Porto Vecchio as well as a range of seasonal watersports.

Other beautiful beaches include Plage de Pinarellu and Plage de Saint Cyprien to the north and bays such as Rondinara Beach and Plage de la Tonnara to the south, towards Bonifacio and the Figari coastline.

The heart of Porto Vecchio is reached in 7km, a delightful town with its natural harbour, marina and historic quarter filled with restaurants, shops and bars. Bonifacio (30km) is another must see, located at the southern tip of Corsica, home to an incredible citadel above the town’s limestone cliffs. Dine in a traditional restaurant, potter around the shops and admire wonderful sea views as you spend the day in exquisite Bonifacio.

Porto Vecchio is also a great base for visiting the wooded landscapes of La Forêt de l'Ospédale, a fantastic area for hiking, and the dramatic scenery of the Col de Bavella. Follow winding roads, come across traditional auberges in pretty villages, discover rock pools and waterfalls by the Cavu or Solenzara rivers and partake in a range of adventure sports such as canyoning, biking and rock-climbing.

Region

From the family-friendly beaches of Porto Vecchio to the dramatic mountain peaks of the Col de Bavella, the southern region of the Mediterranean’s fourth largest island offers you the diverse landscapes, historic towns and iconic coastline that Corsica is so famous for.

Starting in the south-eastern corner of the island, the coastline is truly impressive with turquoise coloured water and soft sand often backed by beachside restaurants and shady trees. Embrace the scent of salt air and pines at Plage de Pinarellu with its crystal-clear sea or spend the day at Plage de Saint Cyprien famed for its gently-shelving shores and summer watersports. On the other side of Porto Vecchio bay are the two famous beaches of Palombaggia and Santa Giulia – head out early to avoid the many visitors who flock to these photogenic beaches in the height of the summer. Further south, Plage de Rondinara is yet another idyllic bay with shallow clear water and fine white sand.

Experience the glamour of Porto Vecchio, once a historic harbour and citadel, now a vibrant town increasingly loved by jet-setters who appreciate its character and natural beauty. It’s a joy to potter around Porto Vecchio’s old town in the evening with boutiques, bars and a range of restaurants for every taste (seafood, pizzas, salads as well as more traditional Corsican dishes).

The jewel of southern Corsica is arguably the exquisite town of Bonifacio with its historic citadel perched above dramatic limestone cliffs and the most incredible vistas of the sea. The citadel’s warren of medieval lanes will enchant you and there is a wealth of restaurants to choose from showcasing some of Corsica’s delicious cuisine – imagine lamb and rosemary, wild boar casserole with chestnuts, cannelloni au brocciu and Mediterranean seafood. Boats from the marina whisk you away to the Lavezzi Islands for more serene beauty. Meanwhile, keen golfers will already be familiar with the prestigious Golf de Spérone in a spectacular setting with views towards Sardinia.

Heading towards the south-west of the island, pass the wilder shores of the Figari coastline (Plage de la Tonnara is a  favourite) and venture through the mountainous landscapes of forest, vineyards and olive groves towards the mountain village of Sartène with its charming squares, restaurant terraces and wonderful market on a Saturday morning. Don’t miss pristine bays along the Valinco Gulf such as Campomoro and Porto Pollo as well as the pre-historic menhirs of Filitosa, before eventually arriving into the handsome city of Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The rugged interiors of southern Corsica are also not to missed from the pine and beech forests of the Forêt de l'Ospédale near Porto Vecchio to the mountain village of Zonza and the incredible Col de Bavella peaks. Discover walking trails, hiking routes, rock-climbing, canyoning  and other adventures amidst the awe-inspiring scenery of Corse-du-Sud.

Whether you choose a rural bergerie near Porto Vecchio, a more contemporary abode overlooking the sea or a beautiful getaway with mountain views, Oliver’s Travels is proud to offer a range of hand-picked villas in southern Corsica.

Corsica is much-loved by families with children of every age thanks to its idyllic beaches and stunning landscapes offering a wealth of adventures.

One of the island’s most popular beaches, Plage de Palombaggia, is 7km by car. Head there early to secure a car parking space, then enjoy a day snorkelling, swimming or simply paddling in the crystal-clear sea, perhaps followed by lunch in a beachside restaurant (do book ahead!).

Plage Santa Giulia is another picture-perfect spot for families or head further afield to other gorgeous beaches and water-based activities north of Porto Vecchio (Plage de Pinarellu and Plage de Saint Cyprien) or to the south towards Bonifacio and Figari (Rondinara Beach and Plage de la Tonnara, to name just two).

Horse-riding, walking and outdoor adventure tours are other great ways to appreciate Corsica’s incredible scenery. Heading towards the Col de Bavella, look out for high-adrenaline activities such as hiking, zip-lines and rock-climbing.

Closer to home, enjoy a family trip to Parc Aventure de Porto-Vecchio for tree-top trails amongst the eucalyptus trees as well as go-karting, trampolining and an inflatable play area.
