Overview
This stunning 17th century château, found just 80km south of Limoges in picturesque rolling countryside, is the ideal base to explore the beautiful region of the Dordogne.
Château Tessyière is set within 15 acres of spacious grounds, gardens and orchards that open out onto to a lake with private woodland paths that lend themselves to leisurely strolls. The château had been in the same family for over 300 years – the Comtes de Tessyiere military family – and is the epitome of 17th century manor living.
Now restored, all the rooms in Château Tessyière are individually furnished to an exceedingly high standard and are full of authentic French fabrics, antiques and silks.
Château Tessyière is a truly magical holiday destination for kids, particularly those with a love for the outdoors, set within 11 acres of mixed woodland that will be sure to excite the imagination and adventurous spirit in kids of all ages.
Further exploration of the grounds will reveal a number of deer, a fantastic local birdlife, a thriving world of creepy crawlies and a lake with many resident fish. There is also golf, canoeing and horse riding a short distance from the property.
For those who prefer to stay within the comfort of the château there is no shortage of indoor entertainment including table football, badminton, and an extensive movie library for older kids, as well as a dolls house and toys for the younger ones.

Region
The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.
The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

A beautiful home with stunning grounds
My extended family and I had a wonderful week staying at this property. It was very spacious but also homely for our party of 10 and the grounds were perfect for our small children to run around in with lots of different areas to explore. Richard was a fantastic host, giving us lots of great recommendations for what to do in the local area and at the property itself (including a chef and some wine tasting at the property).

Great Stay!
Overall, the accommodations were excellent. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless. The lounges and dining areas were well equipped. The swimming pool was a huge relief because we were in France during the middle of the heat wave, with temperatures in the mid-909's.

Spectacular Property
We have recently had our annual trip to Chateau De La Guerinche. We love the chateau and the location. It is something special to wake up to the spectacular views from the bedrooms both in Summer and Winter. The property is well maintained and it’s size makes accommodating a party of 8 - 12 work well. Activity wise great area for cycling, walking and horse riding and for those less active a good book by the pool or sitting on the terrace is hard to beat.

Utter luxury in a perfect location
Just back from a blissful few days at this gorgeous, authentic chateau in the heart of Perigord. The ancient building is exquisite and so romantic, with a tower, beautiful terraces and gardens, stunning unspoiled views and simple, chic interiors. So calm and peaceful, yet only 5 mins from the nearest town where everything is available. Lovely pool with a shady pergola perfect for an afternoon siesta followed by a glass or two of rose as the sun goes down! The owners have really thought of everything to make their guests comfortable and we are already looking forward to a return visit...

Our holiday at the Chateau was wonderful
Our holiday at the Chateau was wonderful, the chateau itself was very nice
just as you would expect it was been updated but you still felt as if you were back in time in a very grand house. The grounds were exceptional very well kept, the grandchildren loved the swimming pool. The whole house was very accommodating for our four grandchildren and six adults, very spacious as you would expect so we could all have our free space if wanted. Although not within walking distance to the closest village this did not stop us going in the car. Perfect holiday and a lovely way to spend a special birthday. -
