Overview
This warm, friendly, and extremely comfortable village Manor House in South West France is an ideal base from which to explore the Dordogne, Cele and Lot river valleys and the beautiful villages and countryside in-between!
Ideally suited for both families and friends, and designed with the enjoyment of the kids in mind, between the stone walls you’ll find entertainment aplenty - from the billiards room to books, toys and games. Outside, the large lawned garden offers space for the little ones to roam, and the swimming pool offers a cool respite for the whole family. With a large gas grill located on the sunny, south facing terrace, family dinner time can easily move outside into the fresh country air.
Adults with a culinary interest will take pleasure in the gorgeous custom kitchen with high-end appliances and rich butcher block counter-tops, adjoining the wine cellar and beautiful vaulted dining room, the collective heart of the home. This substantial family villa offers multiple venues where you can enjoy that perfect glass of Cahors wine - two dining areas, a quiet east facing deck with view of the village church, a large sunny, south facing terrace overlooking the pool, or one of three casual yet extremely comfortable sitting rooms.
Situated in the small hamlet of Le Bourg, conveniently located between the historic towns of Figeac (15km) and Rocamadour (20km), this family villa is nestled on the edge of the verdant 180,000 hectare Causses National Park. Enjoy walking or cycling the local country lanes, or drive across the Causses to Cahors (60km), a dramatic town surrounded by the River Lot, to discover the eponymous style of wine produced there. An adventurous spirit will find plenty to do - exploring the medieval villages and castles of the region, the caves of the Gouffre de Padirac and Le Pech Merle, horseriding, canoeing, or simply going to one of the many weekly farmers markets in the local towns and villages.

Region
The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.
The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

Truly beautiful house
What a wonderful and truly beautiful house that has been just perfect for our multi-generational family. Whilst the weather could have been better at the start of our stay, we still found plenty to do, with visits to Rocamadour, the Gouffre de Padirac (amazing) and a peaceful and relaxing paddle down the Cele river one afternoon (again - amazing!). Lots of bbq’s and games in the evenings! My husband and I ate out on our last evening at the Château Restaurant in Rocamadour - very romantic and lovely to see the city all lit up at night. It’s been a wonderful week and enjoyed by all. And thank you so much, Nicola, for all your help and tips - it’s been a real pleasure meeting you.

Absolutely sensational
Maison Bourg is one of the best places we've ever stayed. Our family had the pleasure of visiting Le Bourg and stayed in this amazing home for a week at the start of August. The photos do not do the house justice and certainly don't show the scale of the property. It is vast and extremely well decorated. Everything about this house is absolutely sensational and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting France. Nick (the owner) and Nicola (the property manager) were both fantastic and couldn't have done more to help. The location is brilliant and Nick's recommendations for 'things to do' and 'places to visit' were well received and saved us a load of time and hassle.
I can't speak highly enough of Maison Bourg, it's owner and property manager.

A wonderful time
We've had a wonderful time at Maison Bourg, and the house is absolutely amazing. It's really rare that all 4 generations of our family get away together, and even rarer we find somewhere to stay that suites all ages....but Maison Bourg has absolutely hit the spot with everyone! Thank you again for the loan of your beautiful house, we hope to return at some point in the future.

Our stay was amazing!
Our stay was amazing! The house is lovely and has everything you need for kids and parents entertainment. The swimming pool is great for the kids with lots of toys at their disposal. The snooker and dart room with music is great for the parents! Rooms and bathrooms are very spacious, you have multiple living rooms and the kitchen in front of the swimming pool is very large and super convenient when you are eating outside. Nick is very responsible and super flexible. I can not recommend more this listing. It was an absolute dream for us!!! Thanks again for hosting us Nick!

Excellent villa
We are a Spanish family who have spent nine days in this absolutely magnificent mansion - a really beautiful house with all the required home comforts. The surroundings and nearby towns are all fairytale medieval towns. We have visited many medieval villages, towns and historic sites. The host has been very detailed. We will undoubtedly repeat our stay for another Christmas soon - even Santa Claus visited us and left gifts for our children! Everything has worked correctly and perfectly. The house was beautiful and the service from Oliver's Travels was very good.

The most relaxing place for our family holiday
Wow! What a beautiful home - it has truly been the most relaxing place for our family holiday. We are very sad to be going home - a big thank you for looking after us so well.
-
Beautiful old house
Nine individuals, aged 20 to 79, from Suffolk, Kent, Wiltshire, Oxford and the Ribble Valley, all of whom were related and knew each other very well, had a most enjoyable but sadly too brief a time in this beautiful old house. Excellent weather, if at times a little too hot, so the pool was much used by the four younger members of the party. Many expeditions and scenery - stunning! Thank you again for a wonderful holiday.
-
Amazing stay
Thank you so, so much - we had an amazing stay. What a beautiful house.
-
Did not disappoint
When we failed to get tickets for our annual pilgrimage to Glastonbury we decided to treat ourselves to two weeks in luxury, and this wonderful house did not disappoint. Thank you for looking after us so well, we have had a brilliant time.
-

-
Superb!
Great place for a family holiday! Beautiful house with large spaces that allowed us to spend a superb week without suffering from the heat wave (swimming pool + stone house that keeps it cool). The pool is great for kids with large steps and shallow water at first. We did not miss anything, the house really offers everything you need (bbq, super functional kitchen, dishes, baby chair, entertainment …). Superb!
-
Thank you.
A big thank you for such a lovely holiday. We have loved the house as well as exploring the region - above all we have all been able to relax and enjoy time as a family. Thank you.
-

The house is super!
Maison Bourg is exactly as described - very well appointed with lots and lots of style. Communication with the owner was easy throughout and he provided all the necessary information throughout. The house is super, with suitable space for both adults and children.

An extremely pleasant stay
Lovely manoir, decorated very tastefully. Very well equipped, absolutely nothing missing. An extremely pleasant stay, and ideal for gathering with several people (11 people for us). The owner has plenty of games and entertainment.
-
Even better than the photos
It has been a perfect stay, the house was even better than the photos, the host and the services have been fantastic. The house is totally recommended and the surroundings are beautiful, for excursions and visiting charming towns.
-
We loved it and will return!
Very good three-day stay for 12 people. Good explanations before and at check-in. Large, well heated and very nice rooms. Shops and walks nearby. We loved it and will return!
-
Excellent!
Maison Bourg is beautiful and welcoming. Everything is so well thought out and designed for the comfort of its guests down to the last detail. The listing and photo details are completely accurate. The added bonus - we came to spend Christmas with the family and a tree was installed and decorated, it was illuminated when we arrived. Excellent! We had a great time.
-
Perfect stay
Perfect stay, this is our second time at Maison Bourg. Motocross fans find relaxation (billiards and the pool) and the other members of the group can take full advantage of the geographical location to go sightseeing. Recommended without hesitation. Thank you to the owners for hosting us and for their kindness. The manoir itself is very spacious, both young or older can find their corner (games, reading , music or TV) without disturbing the other. Excellent!
-
Super Weekend
We would recommend Mason Bourg without any hesitation. A beautiful, spacious, comfortable property in a lovely region. We were able to spend a great long weekend with friends and family of varying ages, all of whom were so well accommodated at Maison Bourg. We will certainly come back again in the future.
-
Fabulous house, charming area, great host
Our stay was perfect, the house is stunning, we experienced it in winter so we could enjoy the 3 fireplaces! Communication with Nick (our host) was excellent and our local contact (Philippe) was very kind and always available. When we ran out of wood for the fireplaces, Nick/Philippe managed to have some more delivered on New Year's Eve and in a short notice. Thank you for this great stay, we can only recommend this house!
-
Great house for family Christmas
We were able to enjoy a wonderful few days as a family in the days before Christmas, soaking in the ambience of this beautiful property and warmed by the
lovely log burning fires – all in all a wonderful home, and some fantastic family days together. Thank you! -
A Great Place
A really great place both for groups of friends and for the whole family. The house is amazing, like a castle, very comfortable and very welcoming. We would highly
recommend Maison Bourg and look forward to returning again. -
Great holiday in super house
A great family holiday - thoroughly enjoyed by all who stayed. Lovely character house with great pool and indoor sports facilities – and so much to see and do in this beautiful area, We loved it! The host Nick and property manager Philippe could not have been more helpful throughout the process. Many thanks.
-
A True Experience
Maison Bourg is truly an experience. It is a lovely stone manor house with all the amenities of a fine property. We were five women from three countries who made
this our vacation home for one week. Each of us was pleased to have our own bedroom, and the bathroom facilities were excellent. We often found ourselves in the warm and well-appointed kitchen....breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea, and an evening glass of wine. We cooked a couple of evenings and ate in the vaulted dining room...super fun. The immediate grounds and the area surrounding the house are really lovely and interesting to explore. This is a quiet French hamlet with a tourist free atmosphere. Although a market is nearby, a car is necessary to make the most of this location. We made several day trips including Rocamadour, Cahors, Figeac, and St. Cirq Lapopie. Last but not least, the property caretaker Philippe was
extremely nice and very helpful. Merveilleux! -
Stunning house
We had a fantastic stay at Maison Bourg. We ended up arriving so late, but this was no problem at all. The house and facilities were fantastic. Very well equipped! Beds very comfortable and clean. Wonderful area with lots to see and do. I would recommend without any hesitation.
-
A Stunning House
An absolutely stunning house with amazing amenities and a fantastic house manager in Philippe. The house was perfect for us and our family. It kept us cool in
what has been the hottest June/July on record in France. Enough space for 8 adults to not feel on top of each other and a safe garden for our dogs. The pool was lovely. Thanks again for accommodating us and our needs! -
We will be back!
A sumptuous property in the heart of the Lot countryside, it is large, elegant, very tastefully furnished and particularly well equipped. The owner Nick and his local property manager Philippe were always available and happy to provide recommendations for the best restaurants and local producers. We will definitely be back!
-
Stunning!
Great stay in a beautiful house. The equipment is top notch. The welcome perfect from both Nick and Philippe!!
-
Superb house
It was a great pleasure to stay in this beautiful old house so tastefully renovated. The charm of the stone, the beams, the dimensions of the rooms and their refined layout, all contributed to making our stay extremely pleasant and truly memorable. Not
forgetting the good times spent around the pool under a summer sun. The welcome from owner Nick and property manager Philippe was warm and courteous. Thank you. -
Spectacular!
A beautiful house and surroundings.

Lovely Stay!
Sumptuous home ideal for holidays with large family or friends in a beautiful region!

Everything we needed for a fabulous stay
Maison Bourg offered everything we needed for a fabulous stay in the Le Lot region of France. The house is spacious and well-appointed, and accommodated our family of nine, including three children, and six adults. The perfect place to celebrate a family milestone. We cooked here every night, and the kitchen is well-stocked to produce wonderful meals from the many local food products available at the farmers' markets and artisanal groceries. Great wine, and the house offered a fine dining atmosphere with big tables for seating all of us to share our meals. The beds were amazingly comfortable. Plenty of room for all of us, and all the various ages of our family.
-
A first-class property
Before our stay, we had exchanged various emails with Nick the owner who was more than willing to answer any queries we had prior to our arrival. Phillipe, the property manager, greeted us at the property as arranged, showed us around the beautiful house and its many, wonderful features and explained everything we needed to know for our stay. The property itself is truly first class. The pictures really do not do justice to the sheer size and space available for our family of 12. There are so many thoughtful features to accommodate all sorts of ages and interests from the games room for our teenagers to the vast collection of DVDs for our younger children when they needed a rest from the pool! All of the bedrooms are extremely spacious and comfortable with en-suites and bathrooms that easily accommodated our large party. The many different living areas were perfect for people to find their own quiet space, including a wonderful outside terrace with numerous seating, parasols and loungers. Details such as a filled 'beer fridge', which you were simply asked to re-fill like for like, was a super idea and enabled us to settle in and enjoy the property straight away. The area itself has so many things to offer. Our family, ranging from 10 to 71, spend a wonderful day canoeing along the Dordogne and we visited many attractions and local towns. We found a great pizzeria in Figeac and lovely restaurants in Gramat and Martel. There is also a fantastic pizzeria take-away just down the road from the house which provided us with a break from cooking on a couple of occasions! All in all, we had a wonderful stay and were very sorry to leave. The house is superb for a large party and we couldn't recommend it enough.
-
An excellent property
Nick and his French representative Phillipe were wonderful people to deal with. The house was very comfortable. The pool was excellent for the grandchildren. The surrounding area fascinating. The home was very comfortable for our party of 7 adults and 2 children. The bedrooms large, the beds comfortable, abundant dining areas inside and out. The nearby villages have good supermarkets etc with a good pizza place about 1 km away.
-
A memorable time!
Dear Nick and Philippe, my family and I have enjoyed the house very much. It is so well set up for relaxation and enjoyment for the whole family. We have explored the region by car, had meals out and also loved being by the pool, playing chess, pool, watching movies, soccer, cooking and eating in the 'cave '. All in all a memorable time in this beautiful part of the world. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your beautiful home away from home. Cheers Renea

A house full of surprise
We had a fabulous stay! The house was superbly catered for both our young children (6 months and 3 years old), our friends (in their 30s) and my parents (in the their 70s). The fabulous pool was the hub of our day times and the games room the hub of our evenings, the older generation still had 3 sitting rooms to choose from for quiet reading and chatting. Each room has been cleverly and lovingly furnished, you cannot imagine waking in a more beautiful bedroom. We were a short drive from canoeing and rock climbing which was great fun. The only negative of this place is having to go home!

A great house!
We have stayed at Maison Bourg with another couple of friends during a round trip through the south of France. The house has been renovated and combines the charm of the old building with what you find as the best in modern comforts. All done with great taste. It added a great deal to our experience in the region. The grounds around the property, the spaces inside, all help creating a great ambiance. Le Bourg is a very small village, but an easy drive to the attractions within the area, like Rocamadour, Padirac caves (don't miss it!), Figeac and Sarlat.

A special house
We have all been so busy just absorbing your fabulous home and all that it has to offer. Our friends are thrilled and over the top on it's charm, location and surroundings. From the lovely pool, which we have used every day, to the pool/dart room and the luxury of the kitchen when preparing meals, it is in a word "gracious"! And the one fabulous touch that I have to comment on is finding not one but two containers of HP sauce in the fridge. Lol. That really was quite special. Thank you also Nick, for your complete and thorough list of information and recommendations. It has been so helpful as we follow your guidance when we decide on places to go or restaurants to visit.

Beautifully renovated stone manor
Met by the informative and charming Phillipe and toured through the house. Very tastefully and lavishly renovated and updated. Modern kitchen complete with every top of the line appliance. Large fireplaces with comfy couches and chairs, lots of Chinese antiques and curios. Beautiful game room, with new large pool table. Great patio and swimming pool. It was an absolute treat to spend 5 days here with friends, I highly recommend Maison Bourg!
