Ideally situated just 3km away from the charming town of Martel is Maison Des Sept Tours, a captivating holiday villa designed in the local architectural style. Positioned on higher ground, Maison Des Sept Tours boasts stunning vistas overlooking Martel and its surroundings, a feature cherished by its original owners who cleverly crafted the house to capitalise on its prime location.

The ground floor hosts most of the bedrooms and bathrooms, ensuring ease of access for guests. On the first floor, you'll be welcomed by an expansive open-plan living/dining space, which makes use of the entire level. Large French doors enlighten the space, opening out onto the outdoor dining terrace, which is perfect for a real al-fresco experience. Modern bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas and underfloor heating ensure your home from home comforts have not been forgotten. You can also sit and read your book in the quaint window seat in the kitchen, or give company to the chef! Just a few steps down, you'll find the private pool and lower terrace, where you can bask in the warm glow of the evening sun. On the second floor, a spacious mezzanine room with two single beds overlooks the living area, which adds to the unique layout of the house.

Venturing outdoors, the pool terrace beckons with its built-in barbecue and ample space for relaxing with friends or family. A private car park ensures convenience, and the sprawling 0.5-hectare grounds, comprising both forested areas and manicured garden, is a playground for kids. The private swimming pool, appointed with Roman corner steps, is perfect for refreshing dips on summer days.

Beyond the expansive grounds and rural route leading to the picturesque village of Baladou, nearby attractions such as canoeing on the Dordogne River or horse riding await exploration. Surrounded by the Dordogne valley, Martel exudes Gallic charm with its historic stone buildings and bustling squares. What's more, an array of famous attractions including the enchanting village of Rocamadour, the captivating caves of Padirac, and the renowned town of Sarlat-la-Canéda ensure that there's plenty to explore.

Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

From its spacious layout and expansive open-plan living/dining area to its array of child-friendly amenities, Maison Des Sept Tours offers the perfect retreat for families with children amidst the scenic wonders of the Dordogne valley.

But it's the outdoor spaces that truly set this villa apart as a family-friendly destination. The pool terrace, complete with a built-in barbecue, invites families to grill and relax under the sun, while the sprawling grounds offer endless opportunities for exploration - a playground for children. And with a private swimming pool at their disposal, children and adults alike can cool off in the summer months.

Take the kids to Reptiland, where you can learn about and get close to crocodiles, cobras or simple chameleons and enjoy the beautiful, the quiet and the strange attributes of these poorly known animals. Or for something a little different, head to Parc Durandal in Rocamadour to see an equestrian show full of stunts, fights, atypical characters and offbeat humour. Afterwards, take a stroll in the village, which is perched high on the cliffs with interesting medieval streets and awe-inspiring views.

And for those with a thirst for exploration, the caves of Padirac promise an underground adventure like no other, with mysterious depths and breathtaking rock formations waiting to be discovered. There's something for everyone at Maison Des Sept Tours.

Reviews

  • Fully worth the 5 stars

    Created on 28/08/2023

We thoroughly enjoyed Maison Des Sept Tours, a house that is fully worth the 5 stars. The large living room with open kitchen is especially a pleasure to stay in, especially when the weather is bad. The heated swimming pool is of course wonderful. Thanks for the wine, cheese and baguette on arrival, a welcome surprise. We did not spoken to the house manager, only via text message. It wasn't necessary because everything was as you wish.

  • In a word, 'amazing'!

    on 18/08/2023

Back from our holiday in Maison Des Sept Tours, here are our experiences. What a beautiful house! Before we left, my son, when he saw photos, thought that we had rented a château. Well, according to a definition, Maison Des Sept Tours will not achieve that, but what a wonderfully beautiful (holiday) home. Situated a bit higher, so if there is wind you will get a nice breeze. And what a lovely swimming pool and space in and especially around the house. The rural environment naturally offers peace and quiet, which further enhances the spatial feeling.
And wonderfully close to the beautiful medieval city of Martel. Good for everything else you need. Varied restaurants around the beautiful market hall in the center, a large supermarket but just as many small shops, where regional products are widely available. Market two days a week, some events (even though it was already September) and of course the unmissable steam train. We enjoyed this house and the surroundings, really beautiful. As far as we are concerned, the photos we sent speak for themselves.
It was, in a word, 'amazing'!

In the most literal sense of the word, 'au revoir'.

  • Exceeded expectations

    on 05/08/2023

We would like to let you know that our stay at Maison Des Sept Tours exceeded expectations. A beautiful, spacious clean house, huge garden and a beautiful swimming pool. Everything else was good to drive.
