This charming yet stylish holiday home is in the beautiful Lot region of southern France, ideal for visiting the likes of Domme, Sarlat and Rocamadour.
Newly renovated, Maison Palazat welcomes up to 8 guests across its four en suite double bedrooms. With three bedrooms on the garden level and one double room upstairs, the villa would suit a small group of friends or family with each bedroom featuring its own shower or bath. On the upper level there is also large living and dining space open plan to a contemporary and fully-equipped kitchen. Watch TV on the armchairs, play table football with your kids and prepare Périgord meals to enjoy together overlooking the garden and pool.
Sunbathe beside the private swimming pool, dine al-fresco near the barbecue and soak up the pretty ambience of the poolside garden. A few steps away is a converted barn housing an indoor jacuzzi, sauna and shower room for pure moments of relaxation. Meanwhile, children will be delighted with the other part of the grounds – a superb garden area with a trampoline, little swing and slide as well as plenty of green space. Enjoy your coffee in peace as you watch on from the picnic table or challenge a loved one to a game of boules.
Located in a hamlet of houses, it is just a short 2km drive to the local village’s auberge or a little further to Salviac (4.5km) for fresh bread and groceries. For larger supermarkets and restaurants, head to historic Gourdon and take time to wander along the narrow lanes of honey coloured houses.
Within a 10-minute drive, cross the Dordogne border and continue to Domme and La Roque Gageac, both by the Dordogne River and classified as two of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. The exquisite architecture and fine gastronomy of Sarlat-la-Canéda is only 30km away whilst some of the region’s famous grand castles such as Château de Fénelon and Château de Beynac are also easily reached.
In the other direction is Rocamadour, Cahors and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, all great days out across the wonderful landscapes of the Lot. Closer to home, discover horse-riding, cycling routes, hiking and walking trails and of course plenty of opportunities for summer canoeing and kayaking along the Dordogne, one of France’s most famous and captivating rivers.

- Each of the four doubles has its own bath/shower room - some are open-plan to the bedrooms. There is also a shower room in the sauna/jacuzzi annexe.
- There are two main parts of the lovely garden - one with the swimming pool and dining terrace, the other around 10m from the house with a children's play area.

Location
About the surrounding area of Maison PalazatIn the Lot department close to the Dordogne border, Maison Palazat enjoys a great location for exploring many highlights of this wonderful part of southern France. Domme, one of the Dordogne’s most famous riverside villages, is only 20km away whilst Rocamadour, a UNESCO World Heritage site, can be reached within an hour.
The villa is located on the edge of a hamlet, around 2km by car from a charming small village with a post office and traditional auberge. In the other direction, Salviac (4.5km) is home to a bakery, small supermarket, pharmacy and a couple of restaurants. There is a larger supermarket and further amenities in Gourdon (12km), a delightful historic town on a hill loved for its honey coloured stone houses.
The Dordogne border is merely a 10-minute drive away – continue on towards Domme (20km) perched above the Dordogne River and riverside La Roque-Gageac (22km), both officially classified as two of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Visit iconic Dordogne châteaux such as Château de Fénelon, Château de Beynac and Château des Milandes or simply board a boat for a trip along one of France’s most famous rivers. There are ample opportunities for summer canoeing and kayaking along the Dordogne.
Experience the fine gastronomy of Sarlat-la-Canéda (30km) at its markets and restaurants - this region is of course known for its foie-gras and truffles. Families will appreciate the animal park and tree-top adventure centre located near Sarlat-la-Canéda and Carsac-Aillac (24km).
There is also so much to discover across the captivating Lot region of southern France including Rocamadour (41km), a UNESCO World Heritage site, the handsome wine town of Cahors (35km) and the picture-perfect riverside village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (55km) which has inspired artists over the years.
Closer to home, make the most of wonderful walking, hiking and cycling trails across the Dordogne and Lot countryside. There is a horse-riding centre a very short distance away and a choice of golf courses within a 40-minute drive.

Region
The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.
The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

Best Suited For: All AgesMaison Palazat is a lovely family holiday home. As well as the inviting swimming pool, on the other side of the grounds you will find a large garden with a boules court, trampoline, a play area for youngsters and lots of space to kick a football around. Inside the villa slightly older children will appreciate the table football upstairs. A cot, highchair and baby bath can be requested.
The Dordogne River is only 20km away – there are summer canoeing and kayaking opportunities near Domme, Carsac and Veyrignac whilst seasonal boat trips depart from the beautiful riverside village of La Roque-Gageac.
Visit pre-historic caves across the region including Grottes de Cougnac (14km), Grottes de Lacave (37km) and the famous Gouffre de Padirac (60km) where you can explore the iconic caves by foot and boat.
Within half an hour is the much-loved Réserve Zoologique de Calviac, not far from the tree-top activity centre near Sarlat, I Feel Wood Accrobranche.
Dinosaur lovers may enjoy a trip to Préhisto Dino Park (40km), perhaps combined with a trip to Rocamadour (41km), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Also close to Rocamadour are Rocher des Aigles for falconry displays, Rocamadour Aventure for more tree-top trails and La Forêt des Singes where you can spot monkeys roaming through the trees. Meanwhile, Parc Animalier de Gramat is around 45 minutes by car.

Can't say enough good things about it!
First of all, the location was perfect, close to the main tourist attractions. This made our travels extremely convenient and allowed us to easily discover all the treasures of the region. As for the accommodation itself, I can't say enough good things about it. The amenities were also excellent. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the utensils needed to prepare our meals. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.
