Overview
A harmonious location in the heart of the Dordogne countryside makes Maison Perigourdine a truly idyllic retreat. The charming setting consists of two old-stone cottages, each boasting a private pool and large terrace.
Both houses have a cosy living room with a kitchen and dining area designed to make guests feel connected. The traditional homes feature high ceilings finished with old wooden beams, exposed brick walls and characterful decor, creating a cosy ambience. The bedrooms are alluring, with the master bedroom in the second cottage featuring a four-poster bed draped in silky veils.
The outside grounds also exude peacefulness: there are roofed terraces where you can have your morning croissants and two pools and sun loungers for more relaxation in the sun. In addition, the Provençal stone facade, wooden window shutters and vines climbing up the walls further accentuate the magical atmosphere.
Although you’ll love staying in the Dordogne countryside, the local village is just a short stroll away. Here you can find a restaurant, a small shop, and an imposing 16th-century castle which hosts musical and theatre events in the summer months. The backdrop is full of stunning medieval villages and bastide towns, all framed by rolling hills and verdant greenery.
More amenities to make your stay comfortable can be found in Lacapelle-Biron or Monpazier, which has been classed as one of the Les Plus Beaux Villages.
A bit further afield, you can discover the old town of Bergerac, with a pretty quay and a maze of medieval streets made for wandering around.
Larger towns worth visiting include Villeneuve-sur-Lot – a historic bastide town with a centre between two old gateways featuring great architecture and a solid dining scene. Agen is a city on the east bank of the River Garonne, with verdant parks, historic bridges and museums.
Bordeaux can also be reached in just over two hours by car, so early birds can comfortably spend a day wandering around its cobbled streets lined with 18th-century buildings, museums, galleries, ambient restaurants and romantic bars showcasing the best of the local wines.

Region
The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.
The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.
