Overview
Just south of the Dordogne, near the pretty village of Siorac, Maison Sable is a charming holiday home in wonderful surroundings. With beautiful valley views and vast gardens, this is the most relaxing way to spend your time in this captivating region.
Maison Sable has many guests that keep returning year after year. This is no doubt because of its welcoming atmosphere and homely appeal with many of the owner’s own quirky and charming decorations dotted around the house. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of space to warm up by the grand fireplace after an evening feast on cooler evenings whilst the breakfast room is a most relaxing spot for your morning coffee and pastries, overlooking the glorious grounds. In the summer, open the original French windows from the living room out to the wooden balcony where you can hear the birds sing and you may even catch glimpse of a deer wandering through the gardens.
The five bedrooms are all individual in style and character; bright twins perfect for children and charming French doubles with a more romantic ambience. The fifth bedroom is on a mezzanine in a separate cottage, complete with its own garden and al-fresco dining terrace and a charming little living-dining room with a sofa-bed which can be made-up for guests requiring accessible accommodation.
As you wander around the vast gardens you will find quiet places to sit and think whether it’s by the large pond watching the frogs leap or under a tree seeking shade from the warm summer sun. The swimming pool, set away from the house, has more wonderful countryside vistas around and plenty of space to lounge on the poolside terrace. The summer colours in the garden will awaken your senses as you relax in this charming abode.
This is a great location near the Vézère and Dordogne rivers, an area full of pretty medieval villages, fine wines, truffles, vibrant local markets and unspoilt views of stunning countryside. The quiet and pretty village of Siorac is just a five minutes drive away where you will find restaurants and a lovely market on a Wednesday. Head down to the Dordogne riverside and hire canoes for leisurely paddling along the Dordogne. The beautiful old town of St Cyprien is just a little further over the river with a fantastic market on a Sunday morning.
Other magical trips out should include sampling the delicious black truffle in the city of Périgueux, heading east to the exquisite town of Sarlat or simply exploring some of France’s Plus Beaux Villages along the Dordogne such as La Roque Gageac, Beynac and Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. Not forgetting the beautiful city of Bergerac with its unmissable Maisons de Vins.
As you return to your delightful holiday home, you will feel you are in the heart of the Dordogne with such wonderful character surrounding you.

Region
The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.
The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.
