Spend glorious summer holidays in the relaxed surroundings of Villa Beauvoir with its spacious garden and private swimming pool, perfectly placed close to both riverside Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the idyllic perched village of Pujols.

This bright holiday villa sleeps up to 8 adults and 2 children across three attractive doubles, one with an en suite shower room with massage jets, and a fourth bedroom with bunk-beds plus there is the added flexibility of a sofa-bed. Set over two floors, guests will love the open-plan style of the lounge, dining area and well-equipped kitchen whilst there are two sets of doors leading to a terrace both at the front and rear of the house.

Outside, a large garden offers plenty of space to relax in the sun followed by a cooling dip in the 9m long swimming pool. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities to dine al-fresco and families will adore the billiard, table football and ping-pong which can be found in the garage.

The villa is perfectly positioned near the outskirts of the picturesque riverside town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot with its attractive historic centre, inviting shops and twice-weekly market. Hilltop Pujols is also very close by – admire the 16th century houses, flower-filled gardens and gorgeous valley views of this tiny village which has been classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.

Discover the beauty of the Lot River by canoe or kayak or drive to other riverside villages such as idyllic Penne-d'Agenais and Puy-l'Évêque. Don’t miss the markets in picture-perfect Monflanquin, Villeréal and the Dordogne’s Issigeac before venturing to the historic town of Cahors surrounded by some of France’s finest Malbec-producing vineyards.

Villa Beauvoir is a short drive from the picturesque riverside town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot in the Lot-et-Garonne department and close to hilltop Pujols, a pretty village classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.

You can reach the heart of Villeneuve-sur-Lot’s old quarter in just over 3km with its medieval buildings, bustling shops and its twice-weekly market which takes place beneath the 19th century covered hall. Admire the attractive Lot River views as you cross over the 13th century bridge and look out for the art exhibitions taking place at the historic Musée de Gajac. In the outskirts of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, close to the villa, there are practical amenities such as a large supermarket and a sports complex with tennis courts.

The perched village of Pujols is also easily reached (4km by car but even closer as the crow flies) – it’s small centre won’t take long to explore but it’s full of charm with its historic houses, some dating back to the 16th century, and colourful summer gardens. Enjoy the glorious views of the river and countryside below before stopping off for something to eat in a village restaurant.

Other highlights nearby include the tiny riverside village of Penne-d'Agenais (11km) and its Notre-Dâme de Peyragude basilica as well as the gorgeous bastide village of Monflanquin (23km), yet another of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Villeréal (35km) is a must on market day with its medieval market hall and atmospheric night markets usually take place on Monday evenings in the height of the summer.

Heading further east along the Lot River, Puy-l'Évêque (44km) is yet another idyllic village of the region whilst Cahors (70km), just over an hour away, is worthy of a visit with its beautiful historic centre, fine restaurants, wonderful markets and surrounding vineyards producing some of the best Malbec in the world.

In the Dordogne, the pretty village of Issigeac (48km) hosts a famous Sunday morning market whilst Bergerac, on the banks of the Dordogne River, can be easily reached in around an hour by car. Heading south instead, medieval Agen (28km) is another fantastic day out – don’t miss trying Agen prunes steeped in Armagnac, after all you aren’t far from the gorgeous villages and towns of the Gers; Fourcès, Larressingle and Condom are just over an hours drive away.

Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

Water-lovers note that there are canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Lot River in and around Villeneuve-sur-Lot and other summer watersports near Castelmoron-sur-Lot further west.

Just half an hour to the north, Lac de Lougratte is a popular spot in the summer holidays for supervised swimming, lakeside picnics and other activities such as pedalo and canoe hire, volleyball and a play area.

Even closer, Z'Animoland and Grottes de Fontirou are two further attractions reached within a 15-minute drive. A little further afield, Parc en Ciel offers tree-top trails and yet more summer water-based activities on its lake or, heading south, the theme park Walygator Sud-Ouest is another fun family day out within half an hour.

Reviews

  • A Very Warm Holiday

    on 11/09/2023

We have been back home since Saturday evening. We like to keep you informed of our stays every time. You know by now that we always try to do this honestly and as objectively as possible.

The welcome from Astrid was warm, we were welcomed by her and her daughter (we assume) in a correct and friendly manner, with a bottle of wine.

Villa Garonne is a beautiful house, with a good layout and well equipped with comfortable furniture.

We had a nice (very warm) holiday.

  • Fantastic accommodation

    on 29/07/2023

Our stay was great. We were pleasantly surprised by our house! The house was equipped with all useful things such as kitchen utensils, coffee machine, barbecue...

The pool was large and clean, the garden was immense so we had a lot of privacy. In short, a fantastic accommodation.

  • A wonderful relaxing holiday!

We have spent two excellent weeks at Villa Beauvoir. The house fine, pool fine, everything worked well. We are very pleased that you advised us so well.

The reception and the state of affairs upon departure were also well organized.

In short, a wonderful relaxing holiday, as we had hoped.

  • We will definitely come back!

    on 14/08/2022

We are now a few weeks back from our wonderful holiday! Thank you!

A beautiful villa with a fantastic pool which we made great use of! The villa is comfortably furnished with excellent beds! The owners gave us a warm welcome and were also present when we left for the Netherlands at 5 am! We could always contact them with questions, but we didn't need to.

A beautiful area for us with picturesque villages, of which we have visited a number of again.

We will undoubtedly come back if we want to go to beautiful France again!
