Mas Du Duc is undoubtedly a place of true beauty with its elegant style and exquisite views as you will soon discover when you step through its private gates, greeted with the scent of citrus trees, rosemary and lavender. Close to Grasse and a short drive from the beaches of Cannes and the French Riviera, this remarkable maison provençale will amaze you in every way.

Experience the sophisticated ambience throughout this high-end home, which dates back to the 1920s - it is said that it was built by a noble duke to give to his mistress. Nowadays guests can expect stylish interiors, fine furnishings, luxurious en suite bathrooms and high-tech features such as Apple TV, a Sonos music system, a wine-fridge and air-conditioning in every room.

The panoramic views are outstanding whether you are gazing out from the open-plan living room or creating family feasts in the smart kitchen-diner, both with beautiful arched doors leading out to the vast terraces looking out towards the French Riviera and surrounding landscapes. Upstairs, step on to your balcony from one of the three sumptuous bedrooms for yet more dazzling vistas with a glass of rosé from the owner’s Provençal winery.

The sun rises above the southern Alps to the east and sets over the Esterel mountains to the west, meaning you are blessed with sun all day across the magnificent terraces and gardens. Seek shade under one of the grand palms or soak up the warmth as you unwind by the olive and eucalyptus trees so typical of this part of southern France. Whether relaxing by the swimming pool or dining al-fresco with family and friends, this is a Mediterranean-inspired paradise.

Woodland walks are on your doorstep and Grasse is just a few minutes by car, following the winding lane down the hill to the incredibly picturesque town with its medieval lanes, charming restaurants, atmospheric weekly market and famous perfume factories and museums.

Food-lovers should also head to Valbonne on a Friday morning for its bustling market or book a table at one of the Michelin starred restaurants in nearby Cabris. Other idyllic hilltop villages scattered across the beautiful landscapes of olive groves, pines and cyprus trees include Opio, Mougins and Biot, not forgetting the artistic villages of Vence and St Paul de Vence.

Spend time in Cannes, wandering along La Croisette and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere before discovering glorious beaches, watersports and boat trips. From Nice to Antibes and perhaps even as far as Saint-Tropez, Mas Du Duc enjoys such a great location for exploring the very best of the glistening Côte d'Azur.

With panoramic views of the Côte d'Azur and Esterel mountains, Mas Du Duc is a brilliant and beautiful base for exploring all that the French Riviera and Alpes-Maritimes has to offer, just over half an hour from Nice Airport.

Set on a small quiet road, in an elevated position above Grasse (2km), follow the hilly lane behind the villa which leads to wonderful woodland walks and jogs with more spectacular views. Grasse itself is also so close, just a few minutes in the car, where you can soak up the enchanting atmosphere as you explore its medieval lanes, coming across picturesque squares, charming restaurants and a wealth of pretty shops. As well as the little daily flower market, don’t miss the main market on a Wednesday morning. Grasse also has a fine reputation for being the ‘perfume capital of France’ and you can visit some of the famous perfume factories and museums dotted across the town.

You are also within easy reach of many other idyllic villages and market towns such as Opio (8km), Valbonne (13km) and Mougins (15km) as well as the famous art villages of Saint-Paul de Vence and neighbouring Vence (23km). Food-lovers can dine at one of the Michelin starred restaurants in Cabris (8km) or enjoy lunch with a view down towards the coast at the idyllic hilltop town of Èze (58km), not far from Monaco.

Cannes (20km) and the French Riviera are calling you, after all the Grasse-Cannes highway is just a 10-minute drive from the villa. Experience the ambience of the promenade, La Croisette, spend the day on the glorious beach and admire the breathtaking views around you. Hop on a boat to the exquisite Lérins Islands, perfect for swimming and scenery, explore the coastline by private yacht or stay by the Cannes coastline for a great range of watersports.

Beyond Cannes, head east towards Nice passing some lovely beaches around Antibes (30km) – make sure you stop off in one of the bustling bars of vibrant Juan-les-Pins and explore the old town and Picasso museum in historic Antibes. Continue past Nice to the timeless resorts of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat, just over an hour away, whilst closer to home you can relax on the cliff-backed beaches around Théoule-sur-Mer (28km).

Find yet more watersports, hiking and other outdoor summer activities around the stunning Lac de Saint-Cassien (25km), or drive further inland to discover rock pools, waterfalls and dramatic mountain scenery around Gourdon (13km) and the Gorges du Loup. You could even drive as far as the Verdon Gorge, one of France’s most well-known natural wonders, about 100km away.

There are numerous golf courses across this part of southern France, including the prestigious Royal Mougins Golf Resort (16km) or, even closer, Golf Grande Bastide and Golf du Claux Amic Sa, both set in picturesque surroundings.

Region

Fall in love with Grasse and its surrounding villages as you experience the Côte d’Azur hinterland staying in one of our handpicked villa rentals in and around Grasse. Pass lavender, jasmine, roses and flower farms as you drive into the hills of the Provence-Alpes-Maritime – no wonder Grasse is known as the ‘perfume capital of France’.

As well as the Museé International de la Parfumerie, visit the perfume houses of Galimard, Molinard and Fragonard for guided tours and even perfume-making workshops. Elsewhere, explore the historic winding lanes and come across artisan shops, café terraces and the impressive Rubens frescoes inside Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy de Grasse. There’s a lovely daily flower market at Place aux Aires whilst Place aux Herbes hosts the larger twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning.

A short drive from Grasse, encounter a wealth of picture-perfect villages and beautiful landscapes for walking, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. The perched village of Cabris is especially bucolic with incredible vistas over the Tanneron forest and Lac de Saint-Cassien. There are more glorious views from the small village of Spéracèdes with its pastel-coloured houses and olive trees.

Discover century-old hiking trails through the Siagne valley as well as pretty villages, ancient bridges and idyllic swimming spots. Visit the illuminated caves of stalagmites and stalactites just outside Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne before pottering around the authentic village admiring its fountains, café terraces and inviting food shops showcasing goats cheese, honey, olive oil and other products of the region.

South of Grasse, drive to the charming hilltop village of Opio, also famed for its olive oil, and don’t miss the Friday morning market in Valbonne, a very charming town dating back to the 16th century, home to a wonderful town square with pavement cafes and restaurants.

Golf lovers have a great choice of courses in the region including Golf du Claux Amic, once a 17th century hunting estate with stunning views and Golf Grande Bastide just south of Opio as well as prestigious courses close to Mougins and Cannes. As well as endless hiking trails across Grasse’s surroundings, other activities include a range of land and water-based activities in and around Lac de Saint-Cassien, only 15km from Grasse, as well as tree-top adventures and zip-lines with French Riviera views at Riviera Nature just north of the town.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Being so close to both the mountains and beaches of the Alpes-Maritimes means there is a great choice of activities for children of all ages across this brilliant part of southern France.

Start off with some walks straight from your villa up into the forests – perfect for adventurous children who don’t mind the occasionally steep terrain. There’s also paint-balling and go-karting just a little further north, about 10km away, and a tree-top adventure park at Riviera Nature, just a few minutes by car. Families may also enjoy the wonderful perfume museums and factories in the town itself.

Heading south, children will adore Cannes with its glorious beaches, watersports, volleyball, tennis and petanque courts as well as beautiful scenery and great walks along the famous promenade, La Croisette. Take a boat trip out to the scenic Îles de Lérins for a relaxing day out or look out for boat excursions, some even taking you as far as Monaco or Saint-Tropez.

The area about Antibes and Cagnes-sur-mer also offers a variety of family-friendly activities such as waterparks, summer evening fairground rides, farms and yet more beaches and watersports. Look out for Le Bois Des Lutins theme park near Villeneuve-Loubet, an enchanting place for younger children, and a zoo close to Fréjus, about an hour away.

Of course there are also plenty of places for cycling, mountain biking and horse-riding and don’t forget about the beautiful Lac de Saint-Cassien for paddle-boats, canoeing, windsurfing and lake swimming. The Valmasque forest is another wonderful area for childhood adventures with woodland walks, bird-watching, picnic spots and play areas.

  • Height of luxury, amazing views

    Created on 05/10/2020

The photos do not properly do this villa justice. From the second you arrive you realise you are somewhere stylish and amazing. Beautifully decorated throughout with a super hi tech specification (Sonos, Apple TV, etc) without doubt the highlight is the pool area and views. Amazing!! Although you are minutes from the pretty town of Grasse and about 30 minutes from Cannes you won't want to leave the villa! We didn't! There is also a lovely walk right from the door up into the woods for more spectacular views and exercise (there are steps but it is steep at times). Eating on the huge patio overlooking the French Riviera at this property is truly what life is all about. The choice of which area to sit in is the only problem you'll have! Can't recommend this place highly enough.

  • Amazing!

    Created on 05/10/2020

What a fantastic Villa! We loved every bit of this fabulous house and location. As soon as we walked in we realized it would be hard to leave each day to explore France! The house itself is beautiful and at the same time very comfortable. The pool and outside area may be the best part when you factor in the fantastic views. We were looking for a central location so that we could explore Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Eze, etc. and Grasse was a great choice. My only regret is that we didn't get to spend enough time in the house and in Grasse. We'll be back to spend a week just for that! I fully recommend this home. You won't be disappointed.

  • Beautiful house with a great view

We spent a perfect week here. The house is beautifully decorated and particularly spacious. From the pool, the pool house and the terraces with various seating areas you have a wonderful view.

  • Absolutely spectacular

    Created on 05/10/2020

There is no question that this is one of the finest houses in Grasse- nearly every window or seating area provides a vista of the French Riviera like no other. The house is finished to an incredibly high standard and the fact that a push of one button electronically closed all shutters meant it was safe at night and when we were out. Of course being so high means that it's a little walk to the shops, but the fact that it backed onto a state forest meant there were awesome trails for walks with the family or a lovely jog for my wife and I. Ideal for 6 to 8 people. We'll definitely be back!

  • Outstanding views!

Great property, stunning decor with superb views!

  • Classic

    Created on 05/10/2020

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home. The property was amazing, the views spectacular. The home is beautiful and the outdoor spaces are perfect. We found this home to be extremely comfortable. Each room has a unique style. We just happened to be there during one of the weekends of the international fireworks competition in Cannes and enjoyed the show from the outdoor patio. Grasse is a lovely town and this home was a great jumping point to visit Cannes, Monaco, Eze and many other places in the French Rivera. The property manager was so very helpful and very accommodating. We loved our time in Grasse!

  • We will be back!

    Created on 05/10/2020

The owner has been a wonderful and very discreet host. Her house is beautiful, nicely decorated, very functional and very spacious. Everything is being thought carefully and a few final touches are helping to make you feel home. Perfect house to rent with a family or with a few friends. We will be back!

  • Exceptional

This place has a fantastic aesthetic - the furniture and decor is exceptional. The place is up a mountain and has amazing views of the surrounds. We travelled with our daughter and the place was perfect for a family.
