Villas which evoke such a feeling of calm, aesthetic harmony, beauty, sheer perfection are rare – Villa Jolie is one of those villas.

It sits on a hillside amidst pretty landscaped gardens overlooking woodland, with views up to the ancient village of Châteauneuf de Grasse, and just above its sister villa, Villa Zen. Each villa has been designed to feel quite private and independent from the other, and larger parties benefit from the possibility of booking both villas together and sharing the whole estate (Villas Jolie and Zen).

The magic is everywhere you look, whether indoors or outdoors furnishings, meticulous attention to detail, soothing schemes, original artwork…everything has received complete care and attention. This luxurious family home is incredibly spacious and light with plenty of creature comforts like air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, high quality equipment, a gym, a wood-fired pizza oven and a large gas barbecue. The gardens are filled with lavender, rosemary, olive trees and have a lovely children’s play area. The beautiful large pool and terraces complete the perfect picture.

If you can drag yourself away from all the comfort and beauty, everything here is at your doorstep. The village is a 15 minute walk away via country lanes. Markets are held in Valbonne and Mouans Sartoux only minutes away, Antibes (with its Aquapark) and Cannes are only 18-22km away, the pretty village of Saint Paul de Vence is an easy 30-minute drive and Nice is just 35km away.

Villa Jolie is the perfect blend of both natural and man-made beauty with all the best that the French Riviera has to offer.

The hilltop village of Châteauneuf de Grasse is a delightful setting surrounded by many quaint French towns and villages. Throughout the summer months there are many festivities and celebrations taking place including open air cinema screenings, the circus, antique fairs and vintage car rallys, which are all highly recommended and certainly worth exploring.

The neighbouring town of Valbonne boasts a charming market square with narrow streets and boutique shops, perfect for an evening stroll before enjoying the delicious Provençal gastronomy from one of the many restaurants on offer. Visit the local markets offering plenty of fresh and delicious produce, head to Valbonne early on a Friday morning for a coffee and croissant before purchasing lunch from the stallholders or visit Mouans Sartoux on Thursday, Friday or Saturday for more wonderful fruits, vegetables, meats and other delicacies. The famous perfume town of Grasse is also right on your doorstep, so a visit to the Fragonard perfume museum and factory is essential.

The Cote d’Azur possesses endless beaches with many water-sporting activities, water parks and attractions to be enjoyed. The chic town of Cannes with the port bustling with super yachts and the famous Promenade de la Croisette are certainly one of many towns to visit. Similarly, the old towns of Antibes and Nice both possess endless winding streets with market stalls, local delicacies and hand crafted artworks providing hours of exploration for all the family.

Region

Fall in love with Grasse and its surrounding villages as you experience the Côte d’Azur hinterland staying in one of our handpicked villa rentals in and around Grasse. Pass lavender, jasmine, roses and flower farms as you drive into the hills of the Provence-Alpes-Maritime – no wonder Grasse is known as the ‘perfume capital of France’.

As well as the Museé International de la Parfumerie, visit the perfume houses of Galimard, Molinard and Fragonard for guided tours and even perfume-making workshops. Elsewhere, explore the historic winding lanes and come across artisan shops, café terraces and the impressive Rubens frescoes inside Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy de Grasse. There’s a lovely daily flower market at Place aux Aires whilst Place aux Herbes hosts the larger twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning.

A short drive from Grasse, encounter a wealth of picture-perfect villages and beautiful landscapes for walking, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. The perched village of Cabris is especially bucolic with incredible vistas over the Tanneron forest and Lac de Saint-Cassien. There are more glorious views from the small village of Spéracèdes with its pastel-coloured houses and olive trees.

Discover century-old hiking trails through the Siagne valley as well as pretty villages, ancient bridges and idyllic swimming spots. Visit the illuminated caves of stalagmites and stalactites just outside Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne before pottering around the authentic village admiring its fountains, café terraces and inviting food shops showcasing goats cheese, honey, olive oil and other products of the region.

South of Grasse, drive to the charming hilltop village of Opio, also famed for its olive oil, and don’t miss the Friday morning market in Valbonne, a very charming town dating back to the 16th century, home to a wonderful town square with pavement cafes and restaurants.

Golf lovers have a great choice of courses in the region including Golf du Claux Amic, once a 17th century hunting estate with stunning views and Golf Grande Bastide just south of Opio as well as prestigious courses close to Mougins and Cannes. As well as endless hiking trails across Grasse’s surroundings, other activities include a range of land and water-based activities in and around Lac de Saint-Cassien, only 15km from Grasse, as well as tree-top adventures and zip-lines with French Riviera views at Riviera Nature just north of the town.

Owner Profile

How long have you owned the property?
We bought the plot in 2004 when it was used by the previous owner to keep sheep and grow grapes and olives. The first villa was completed in 2008 and the second in 2012.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
It’s a beautiful, large plot of land in a quiet and protected area with lovely views of the village of Chateauneuf.

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
As well as previously being used to grow grapes (and still produces a modest olive harvest for oil) the land was previously used to grow flowers for the perfume industry in Grasse.

Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Of course! Being discrete for the individuals, we have had Saudi royalty and famous musicians stay in the properties

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
Have a drink (or a meal) in the square in Valbonne.

Really eat?
La Place de Mougins in Mougins village.

Really see?
The view of the French Riviera from Gourdon village.

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Bring a comfortable pair of shoes and walk, walk, walk – through the narrow streets of the local villages; around the local markets and brocantes; on the country walks in the hills; through the renowned artist villages of Vallauris, St Paul de Vence and Mougins…

  • Exquisite Property

    on 06/11/2023

We loved our stay at Villa Jolie! So beautifully furnished and great indoor and outdoor kitchen! Everything you could need was there. All of the outdoor spaces were so beautiful it was hard to decide where we wanted to hang out that day. We would sight see during the day and then just hunker down in the house or outside and enjoy our friends.
We used a cooking service to come in and cook in the evening so we didn't have to go out at night. We used a company called Dineindulge. I would definitely recommend a car as nothing is in walking distance and the taxis are expensive. 5 star rating in my book!

  • Stunning

    on 15/05/2023

This is the most amazing property with everything you could possibly want and more. The house and spectacular outdoor areas are truly fabulous. Thank you to the owner who’s attention to detail and thoughtful extras provided us with the most wonderful holiday accommodation imaginable.

  • Perfect balance of beauty and convenience!

    on 27/06/2019

We had a lovely friends/family vacation in Villa Jolie. We can't recommend it highly enough. The house is stunning, perfectly appointed, spacious and new bedrooms and baths. The outdoor area was really special; huge outdoor kitchen with grill and pizza oven, shaded seating which overlooks the valley. We used the pool every day (and could adjust the temp). All the little details were attended to.
We had little gifts waiting for our toddler, a crib was already set up in a room with black out shades, and all the bathrooms had fresh, luxurious soaps and products. Any questions we had were answered right away. We felt really fortunate for finding this gem.

  • Very Nice!

    on 18/08/2018

We as a family had a wonderful holiday. Villa Jolie was beautiful!

  • Wow!

    on 18/08/2016

Beyond our expectations as pictures and words don't prepare you for this villa WOW location and fantastic amenities. Our age group was from 10 to 80 and everyone wanted to stay two more relaxing weeks. The lucky owner was the perfect host. Near enough to the Riviera far enough for peace and quiet. In summary we ate too much we drank too much and have many happy memories to bring home. First class.

  • Simply perfection

    on 02/08/2016

We enjoyed the most relaxing and peaceful holiday at this villa in a delightful part of France. On arrival we received the warmest of welcomes from the owner to a very well considered and comfortable family home which was nothing less than stunning and this theme continued for the duration of our stay. An excellently constructed information guide provided us with all we needed to know and more, including contact details for the friendliest and most reliable taxi service we have ever used. We visited a selection of the restaurants recommended and were never disappointed, but we especially enjoyed the Auberge Provencale in Valbonne. The highlight of this glorious property is undoubtedly the outside space which includes a gas BBQ that doesn't require the purchase of gas bottles, a pizza oven, large pool and lounger area and, an amazing garden. To laze around the pool surrounded by the scents of Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme was a unique experience for us and one we shall definitely return to.

  • Absolutely stunning! A perfect property, highly recommended

    on 26/07/2016

This property is amazing! It strikes a perfect balance of being luxurious and beautiful and yet comfortable and homely. Set in stunning surroundings, the house has everything you could possibly need and we felt instantly relaxed. The owner is charming, incredibly helpful and understanding to your needs. The house is wonderful for families. Parents with young children will be instantly reassured that the house is safe and there's lots to keep the little ones occupied. A truly wonderful house set in the most beautiful location. My boyfriend, a journalist who has edited many leading magazines, said that the best recommendation he could give it is that within 24 hours he was on the phone already recommending it to his friends.
We will definitely be booking again and highly recommend it!

  • Stunning villa with excellent facilities and beautiful pool

    on 09/07/2016

We have just enjoyed a fabulous week in this luxurious villa. It was wonderful to wake up each morning to views towards the village of Chateauneuf in the distance and hear nothing but the sounds of birds and insects. The villa is very well equipped and designed with attention to detail. There are a variety of comfortable outdoor seating areas to choose from and the pizza oven was a huge success. The pool is large and salt water (no nasty chlorine) and sun loungers very comfortable with two huge sun parasols. Everything was so great that it was difficult to tear ourselves away. When we did, we enjoyed several visits to Valbonne (approx 15 minute car journey) to eat and wander round the Friday market. We did the walk from Le Bar-sur-Loup to Gourdon which has stunning views but was hard work in the July heat. Michelle (owner) was really helpful providing restaurant recommendations and very responsive if we had any queries during the week. Our only disappointment was that there are no restaurants or cafes in Chateauneuf itself. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa - it lived up to our expectations and more!
